Good looking Corvair! -
Greetings All, After a brief pause to visit family in Florida, I thought posting one of my older 'works' would be interesting. This is at least 27 years old. I built this from an old Pyro kit for a VW model contest that was part of a big Volkswagen car show held in central Florida. The show has been going on for about 35 years. I believe they only had the 'VW model contest' for one year and it was stopped. I anticipated a lot of really good, well detailed entries, so I wanted to do something really unique. I've always been a fan of 'cut-away' display cars, so I gave it a shot. Of course, my detailing skills have gotten a little better over time and if I remember correctly,....I didn't give myself a lot of time before I decided to enter the contest. I did a VW bus a few years later that came out slightly better. That one never went into a contest. Hope you enjoy the photos!

Really nice job LM! The chrome trim, and all the lettering and emblems are sharp. Under hood details are super!

Kurt, What's the name of his website?

Thank you fellows for the comments!

Terry, you may like 'Speedway Decals'. It's under the Fotki website. Check under the 'Misc. Decals'. 'It has the Caution-Fan decal too! I use their decals all the time.

Since I've been messing with my background scenery, I thought I might put out another of my older 1/32 pieces. This is a 'Revell of Great Britain' kit dated from 1963, but it seems the original issue goes back to the early 1950's! Quite a few of these little boogers were not meant to be detailed very much. The bodies were molded in left and right sides so........the interiors were very bare and putting in window glazing was a challenge. Then there was the issue of filling in the seam that ran front to back! I cut the roof off this one and built it, then attached the finished roof section. Hope you like the pics!

Great '50s/'60s street rod, Al. Looks like something right out of American Graffiti!

Thanks, guys, for the great comments!

Thanks Ray, wasn't too sure what you meant by 'Donk' until I looked it up! (No, I don't think so). However, in some 'pick-up truck circles', it is considered the Grand Dad of the pick-up truck. IH started building it as the 'Auto Buggy' in 1907. It could be had with 2 or 3 rows of seats or just a front seat with a flat bed section in the rear. In 1912 IH decided to build just the truck version and renamed it the 'Auto Wagon' and continued it until 1917. I'm not really a truck/pick-up truck enthusiast, but I think of it as a very important part of automotive history.

Thanks Hanjo, The model was made originally by 'Highway Pioneers', (Revell), here in the U.S. It's an older 1/32 scale kit. It is a model of a 1910/11 International Harvester Auto Wagon. International Harvester is an Illinois, (U.S.A.), based company. You can still find them on Ebay. Not to expensive.

Thanks Alan, It is a 'Highway Pioneers' 1/32 scale kit. It's an older kit but they do pop up on Ebay occasionally. Not too pricey. Check out my reply to 'Mittagskind' and 'cobraman'.

Built this kit while in the middle of a more tedious model I was working on. I found it's sometimes helpful to 'unfocus' from a big project for a while. This is when I grab a 1/43 white metal kit or a 1/32 kit. Hope you like the pictures!

Great job Hanjo! Looking forward to seeing some engine pics when you have time. I have both 1/16 Revell VW kits sitting on my shelf since the 90's. This Ghia and the 1951/52 Kafer. Just waiting to find the right color combination for them. Your's is great.

Thanks for comments guys!

Thank you, Phil. Just checked out the website for the campground. Really liked the 'Restored Vintage' trailers!

Hey Pete, After posting 3 of my wagons on H.A.K.'s post, I noticed your Nova wagon you posted on 5/30. Can you tell me where you got that green?

Thanks for all the good words!

Thanks for the comments, guys!

Thanks Hanjo, it must be another one of those pesky UFOs! Haven't heard of a sighting in years. Thought 'they' gave up on us. (I believe it's on the inside of the lens. I'll check it out today.) Thanks!

Thanks Bruce, It's a 1/32 scale Airfix kit. They pop up once in a while on Ebay. I bought this one from an old hobby store in Florida when I lived down there.

Thanks Ray. Seems I'm getting better results with my indoor photos than my outdoor ones.

This is one of my better Rust-oleum paint jobs from years ago. For some reason, I have always had better luck with Rust-oleum reds, browns, and greens. It's 'box stock' except I used brass wire in the convertible tops where they attach to the body. The hood was painted with Rust-oleum 'Chrome' silver spray paint. Lots of thin coats. Hope you like the pics.

The Curtiss Aerocar is a 1/43 resin kit I purchased from a British model car magazine back in the '90s called Model Auto Review, (M.A.R.). I stopped subscribing to them when they went 'fully on-line' about 2013. I don't know if they even sell anything anymore. The kit was extremely crude. Not a smooth surface anywhere and quite a bit of warpage. Oh yea,...included in the box was a full-page photocopy, (internet), of the history of the Curtiss Aerocar Company but........NO Instructions! The Packard is a 'Super 8 convertible' from Solido diecast that I disassembled, stripped the paint from, and cut out the trunk lid. Added the 'post' in the trunk section and painted both pieces Dupli-Color 'Pewter Metallic'. Hope you enjoy the photos!
