Howdy, I’ve been following this forum for a few months now and finally decided to make an account. This forum has been immensely helpful to me, whether it be upcoming kit news, tips and pointers I learned from WIPs, or the inspiration I’ve gotten from seeing completed projects under glass. Needless to say, I’m grateful to be modeling in a day and age where this forum exists.
I got into the hobby about 10 months ago, after coming across videos on youtube from Hpiguys Workshop. From the looks of it I’m on the younger side of the hobby. While I’m not gonna share my exact age online, let’s just say I’ve got a few months to go before I can legally buy certain things. I primarily build pickups and class 8 trucks. I only have two completed models so far, and they were done last year. When life got busy I had to put a couple hobbies on the back burner, but I’ve got some spare time now. I’ll clean the dust off of them and put them up once I figure out how to post photos on here. They’re nothin’ special, just the snap Revell 1:25 KW W900 Aerodyne, and the Revell 1:24 1980 F-150. I have an AMT KW log truck and trailer that I’ll be posting in the WIP section soon as well. I’m looking forward to future discussions and contributing to this fun hobby.
This is my first completed model, I built it in the fall of last year. I built it loosely based off of my 1:1, an ‘80 F-150 Ranger. In hindsight, I understand pretty clearly now why many people don’t like these old 1/24 monogram pickups. After owning and studying a real one for almost 5 years, the inaccuracies with the kit had me shaking my head. Regardless, it was a fun build, and what better of a kit to practice on? I think I’ll make another attempt of replicating my 1:1 later on by kitbashing an AMT long bed 1992 F-150, and an ‘80-81 MPC Bronco.
