Thank you, and no kidding, a lot of folks happy to share helpful info.

Thanks everybody, the encouragement and kind comments mean a lot! Just a wee bit more than Petercar I was thinking black for the frame, light brown for the cab and hood, and integrating the use of gold stripe decals from the reissued Chevy Rescue Van. You got that right, I have memories of being (quite literally) tossed around in the back of the family Suburban on the times in the summer when my mom would rally up log roads to take my stepdad a lunch. Log roads are fun to put around on in a 4x4 though, but you’d wanna make sure you’re on an old road that’s not being used. Otherwise you’d take the chance of becoming a fashionable hood ornament for an Ireland truck.

Two tone can get tricky, especially if they’re different types of paints. I’d run tests on scrap sprue or white plastic spoons to see if the clear you use reacts with the color layer.

Howdy. This truck started as the reissued AMT Challenge mixer truck, the mixer itself will be going on a modified Ford Louisville truck later on, and this W-923 will be paired with the AMT Peerless logging trailer. I had to slightly modify the Peerless parts to fit on the KW frame, the frame was a sliver too narrow, my guess is that the Peerless parts were designed to go with the Mack R model, given the Peerless box art. I decided to make a stinger for the rear of the frame, as most trucks here have them to aid in cornering on tight logging roads. I went with a tapered design on the stinger. Most sub-assemblies are done, so it’ll be seeing some paint soon.

Thank you. I was originally going to do blue as the base color, but the dark red laid down nice. (For a rattle can) -

That looks just like the real one! Must’ve been an eruption of masking tape after the last paint had dried. Well worth it though! -
Thank you, no kidding. Thank you. This is a great hobby.

I’ve heard that BMF has been a bit less adhesive lately for lots of folks. Your idea with the glue stick is a good one Mike, it worked out great from the looks of it. I dig the shag carpet and actual cloth seats as well.

Thank you. Thank you, happy to be here. Thank you. I’ve got the hang of it now and got those posted. The WIP I mentioned will be going up later today as well.

That’s unfortunate about the chrome paint, but it looks like you pulled the BMF of well all things considered. That’s a nice two-tone as well.

That’s an interesting concept. A simple pinstripe job would really set this off.

Thank you, that means a lot. I’m currently getting started on an AMT W900 log truck build, I’ll be putting that in the WIP section soon. -
Thank you. Thank you. Yup, those panels that slope downwards from the cowl to the core support were a hallmark of the older clamshell hood trucks. It looks way out of place on an ‘80-86. Being my first kit and having owned the real truck for some time, it definitely left me scratching my head, lol. Another thing that annoys me is that these old monogram 1/24 trucks don’t have accurate floor pans for the cabs, just the bottom of the interior tub. They got the interior itself more or less accurate though.

Thank you. Happy to be involved

Do you think they’ll send burritos down in vacuum tubes like you’d find at a drive-thru bank?

At a previous job last year, I was about ready to start a new job, and as a parting present I drew my boss a picture of his truck that he had just bought not too long before. He and his wife were showing it off to customers for a few days afterwards lol.

Thanks Larry!

I have considered that as a starting point, but I think I’ll start with an AMT ‘92 F-150 kit that I already have, and I’ll keep an eye out for an MPC Bronco. Kitbashing those two would achieve my desired effect, and it’ll be 1:25. Who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky and Moebius will announce a series of 1980-1996 Ford truck kits as well.

This is my second completed model kit, and my first completed semi tractor. This was built around November of last year. Being the snap kit, it was good practice to develop skills and techniques to use on future builds. Built box stock, the only things I had to scratch-build were a new windshield (after I had gotten a spot of super glue right in the middle of the kit windshield on the driver side ?) and the windshield wipers and fifth wheel release handle, made out of metal wire. I used black and brown sharpies to make the blanket in the sleeper look like a Southwestern-style saddle blanket. The main body color is Rustoleum Colonial Red, with rustoleum gray and white for the stripe job, and silver sharpie used on the smallest stripe of the three. Unfortunately the paint did a little bit of cracking on the stripes (too many layers of paint is my guess). Any comments and criticism are highly welcomed.

Those renderings got me smiling, particularly the 4x4 pickup with the roll bar and brush guard, although I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be a factory highboy or not. That wrecker looks great too. Thanks for sharing ?
