I am in on this build i love the movie but here is my problem i have a choice of 4 kits i need some input from you guys, The mustang and the Fiero are both 1985 kits no problem there, the Ford exp was produced from 1982 to 1988 this one has a tubo making it a 1984 and the Coyote was in the tv show from 1983 to 86. Let me know what you think. great paint job on that Trans Am nick awsome shine.

outstanding just like all of your builds, your like the Picaso of plastic.
-
Your work is outstanding i look for your updates every day on this build, i have a question about using alcad i have been using the chrome and i really like it but it doesn't take to any kind of handeling i know they make a clear flat and semi gloss but not for the chrome i assume it would kill the chrome effect what do you think?

Your catalina looks awsome nice interior and very impresive engine details.

Pontiac 400 heater hose question
rv1963 replied to rhs856's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I owned both a 1967 and 68 and by brother had a 69 bird the rear heater hose goes from the heater core in the fire wall to the passenger rear cyclinder head just behind and a little below the rear intake runner there was a nipple on the head, the only coolent passage on the intake manifold was at the front for the upper rad hose, the other heater hose goes from the water pump to the firewall. I hope this helps. -
Great review Jairus i was curious about these kits looks decent i like the steel chassis don't like the guide flag setup.
-
Revell 68 firebird on the crappy parma edge chassis which i cut the center section out and replaced it with wire and the big Al thunderbird on a wire frame chassis.
-
Yep they all look very good
-
Great work on a modern style altered.

I assume you mean the coil springs the stock ones were thick blobs of chrome with very little detail so i replaced them with some wire i wrapped around a small piece of brass rod several times then i cut them to size and painted chrome before installing them i put a small piece of brass wire painted white centered in the coil spring mount because it's load bareing.

The rat rod looks great i like the weld bead detail around the roof.
-
Wow that looks awsome, the paint and decals are very well done as are all those engine details.
-
That's a good question joseph i have several pics of the car but you can't see the inside frame rails with the engine in the car and the body on it, i think from the factory these early model t cars had open frame rails and a lot of hot rod guys would box them in for added strength because of the high powered motors and it looks better maybe some one else has an anwser.

A little update i got the front and rear wheels installed just had to see what it would look like i made the white wall tires using very thin vinyl tape, this is a very small car almost looks like 1/32 scale but i like it, next i work on the body parts.

Thanks guys for the paint i used createx acrylic aqua with about 30% pearl blue mixed in for the engine and interior, the blue areas on the frame are decals.
-
I like it very well done i like the color of the engine matching the interior it looks better this way than the factory blue they came in.
-
I finished the frame and most of the suspension just have to add the shocks front and rear and do some touchup, the frame was prepped with tamiya white primer than sprayed with Tamiya gloss white and 2 airbrused coats of iridescent white and 3 coats of clear gloss i wish you could see the iridescent paint it looks a lot like pearl.
-
I love these old drag cars they have so much personality and those machined parts lookk great.
-
One pic of the interior painted to match the engine, i gave the steering wheel a coat of tamiya white lacquer than a coat of iridescent white so it would have that pearl look still needs a second coat and a final clear coat kind of an experiment to see if this will work on the entire body.

rv1963 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Model Cars
