  1. Time for an update. The first 2 pics are of the engine with many changes and details added, scratch built magneto, pulleys and belts, fuel lines plug wires and a few others. The third pic shows the body with 2 large plastic bulges on the radiator support and the 2 straps of plastic I think to hold up the hood, both have to go, these items are removed in the last pic and I added some strip plastic on the lip of the fender wells to hold up the hood. The engine still needs to have the paint touched up in a few spots than I think it will be done.
  2. Thanks for your reply, I will post an update on the engine in a day or 2, working on the fuel lines and plug wires now.
  3. Outstanding work, over the past 2 days I went through every page of this thread to see your awesome work, can't wait for your next update.
  4. Hi guys it's been a long time since I posted any of my builds, you know how it is life gets in the way. A few pics I of my Iowa Shaker build, the first is just the box art for those who don't know the kit, the second is a pic of the raw engine showing the big gaps in between the intake and heads and the lack of a decent water pump, the third pic shows the scratch built water pump and some of the work filling the gaps, any and all comments welcome.
  5. A few pics from a book on stock cars maybe they can help first one is from 1964 than 69 and 70.
  6. Interesting build i have several pictures of engines with intake setups very much like this i will post them maybe they will help.
  7. My first update on the 57 Belair just the basic engine work needs lots more detailing.
  8. A perfect hot rod i really like the roof never seen that done before.
  9. Nice brass work Romell, kind of a question comment i hope you are wearing a mask with a charcoal filter in it solder fumes are very bad.
  10. Those paint jobs are awsome as is all of his work, he needs a photo bucket account it's free.
  11. Great work i really like it those whells are perfect for this car.
  12. Yep that paint is amazing.
  13. Yep Romell i thought it was something like that i wonder if they do freelance work the pay sucks but they get free beer and chips.
  14. Bill how did you secure those thin wires to the rim ?
  15. Once again outstanding work, just to clear things up i wasn't trying to hint for you to make wheels for me it's way to much work just to do your own machining i know i have a vintage unimat lathe from the 1960's that i like to play with and make my own stuff it's fun but i am not even close to your skill level, can't wait to see what you make next.
  16. Great work on your Super bee nice paint and i love those engine details, i have one question the raised scoop you added on the rear quarters was this an option because i have seen this on some cars and others are missing it.
  17. Ok thanks for the info just rechecked the front page missed that on the first read, i will have a post in a few days thanks again.
  18. You guys have some awsome builds going here, is it to late to join i have the Revell 1957 black widow kit that should work well as a retired stock car repainted of course for street duty.
  19. Awsome work on those machined parts, cheap lathe depends what you call cheap looks like it works really good to me, you could make parts for a few guys on the forum and cover the cost on that lathe very quickly, once again outstanding.
  20. This is a very cool project i like the tubo's in the trunk area, there maybe several reasons for putting them in the trunk far away from the engine (i am just guessing here not an expert) heat may be one issue the further away from the exhaust manifold or headers reduces the heat going into the turbo's and you also keep the heat from the turbo's out of the engine compartment, this may also move some weight over the rear wheels aiding traction, one other small thing no holes cut in the front of the car for the tubo's messing with the aero on the car, space may also be a problem that's a lot of plumbing to put under the hood. I will keep watching very cool project.
  21. Great to see these late 80's pocket rockets being built these little cars really did have some power, nice work on those engine details.
  22. Since i got very little input on which kit to use i am going with the Mustang SVO below are 2 pics of the engine work i started lots more to do like some custom intake plumbing for the turbo and a vintage style cold air intake and some steel braded lines, all comments welcome.
  23. Looks pretty darn good to me and the pics are really good to, always a good idea to have one shot of the finished model's chassis, be proud you have done well.
  24. Thanks for your input Jim i agree on the escort not known to be a good car in the first generation and i read that the coyote was so cramped the stars had trouble getting in and out of it i am leaning to the Mustang svo because it has the best performance by far i read in one of the car mags that the svo turned in better times in the quater mile than a v8 gt that year, i still have plenty of time to make a decision.
