And if 1991 was a building year for the big names in hot rods, 1992 was when those builds were shown off. None better than this rendition of the '37 coupe The names associated with this build - incredible! Ken Fenical of Posies Street Rods putting together a Thom Taylor design and handmade body. HRM April 1992

So yes, I like weird! This one is the AREX sports car by David Stollery and Gale Banks. HRM April 1992 I like this shot from elsewhere too

Apparently the green Lincoln was heavily chopped, and there is a good article on it at https://www.whichcar.com.au/features/chopped-custom-lincoln-premiere Beyond that, I could not find much on the purple Lincoln It seems John D'Agostino really liked Lincolns and did some cool things with them. Here is one called Cadinental

Having gone through all the 1991 issues of HRM, I find myself confused about one thing; whatever happened to the 1991 Hot Rod Magazine Model Car Nationals they had advertised would be happening in March of that year? Look as I might - there is no mention of it in April - December 1991 as might be expected. I tried to get an answer by googling it, but again found nothing. Does anyone have any insight on it? Hopefully, it didn't just go away. HRM November 1991 had this little blurb which almost made it sound like the competition was being melded with others in the scale modeling world.

On a totally different front was an ad for the "Patriot" kit car by Corbett Automotive Design. HRM November 1991 Based on the Fiero, it had some interesting innovations and a look all its own.

Another subtle beauty from the same issue was an article on the build of this Pro-Street Studebaker ("subtle" and "Pro-Street"; two words you don't usually hear together ) HRM November 1991

1991 seemed to be a "building year" for a lot of hot rod makers. Occasionally though there was an interesting new car that caught my attention. From HRM November 1991 was this '56 Lincoln done by John D'Agostino In color, it is even more impressive D'Agostino also did a '57 Lincoln that too came out awesome

I agree Scott. I wish there was a kit of Cadzzilla, and of Hemisfear. As it is we have to make do with the diecasts of these cars. Also personally, my number biggest wish would have been for a kit of Impostor.

An up-and-coming Chip Foose got a little write-up in HRM April 1991 with a concept he modeled in college. This project was, of course, the genesis of what later became known as the "Hemisfear".

Likewise, an article about Ron Fournier and his stunning 1/4 scale cars. HRM December 1990 If you do a search of his scale models, the results are incredible!

And speaking of finding inspiration in various places, check out this pedal car done by Dick King! HRM December 1990 Apparently this was what he was doing when not busy making beautiful roadsters, such as the '29 Roaster below: You can see more of this reclaimed classic at https://www.hagerty.com/media/car-profiles/dick-king-roadster/

It's so fascinating the places where we can get inspiration. I myself see '30 Bentley Speed when I look at this car.

Speaking of the "California Kid", I was browsing online and came across the following kit: It seemed a reasonable price at $20, and would make a pretty good facsimile of the "California Kid". It would also save a lot of time and effort for someone - especially if they were like me, and challenged by two left thumbs where it comes to painting bodies. Has anyone tried this kit (or one from this series)? I'm just curious how good they are.

Roger, do we know if anyone made a diecast or scale model of Cole Cutler's '34 Ford? I would love to own it. (Also, just to give you a giggle, I had to look up "IIRC" because I thought it was a specific racing series I was unaware of! )
