  1. LOL, wiser words were never written.
  2. Wrong question. The right question is, what takes others so long? What are they waiting for? And the best question: Why are they waiting?
  3. I hope it's not good for the economy! If there is one thing I have learned in life, then it's that whenever they say it's good for the economy, I know exactly that it's bad for me. And this Olympiade, you know, the trouble with these international affairs is, that they attract those foreign types.
  4. My taste never changed. Only the most beautiful and best will do for me.
  5. How I'm coping with heat??? Well, I switched it back on!
  6. This may out-obscure them all. I did not know it exists until today. No, I don't have it (yet), no, I have never seen one in real live, no, please don't ask, because I don't know it either. All I know is the following: - It is a 1:20 scale kit of a French Berliet truck made by a company called Pistora. - It was ONLY ever available through Berliet dealerships. - Apparently, it can be built into a very attractive model: Must I have one? Let me put it this way: Is the bear a catholic?
  7. Replica stock full-sized American cars.
  8. I played with Lego for as long as I can remember. When I was 15 or so, my mother destroyed it all by putting it into a pillow case and stucking it in the washmachine at 60 Celsius. Nothing fit together anymore after that. About 10 years ago, I started buying Lego for my children so I can play with it again.
  9. Why was everything nicer and better in them good old times?
  10. Even better if I'm wrong. One thing less to worry about. So they are a perfect fit. Yes, I managed to develop the technique to near perfection. But the colours are all wrong. Maybe I could bring this one back to life, but you haven't seen the driver's side. The front clip became unattached, i.e. the glue seam split. Also, the joins behind the doors are visible. I hadn't yet developed the art of filling back then.
  11. Those series seem to attract a fair number of contestants. I bet the racing is fierce.
  12. Interestingly, the old Revell multipiece '60 Corvette is in fact a '59 Corvette. The wheel covers from the AMT '59 Corvette, which interestingly is a '60 Corvette, fit the Babymoon wheels in the Revell kit perfectly. Strip the chrome off the Revell wheels, paint them red, and glue on the wheel covers from the AMT. The only thing thats inaccurate after the operation is that the orientation of the 'flags' in the centre of the caps is wrong now. On a '59 Corvette, they should be perpendicular to the simulated knock-off indentaion, whereas on a '60 they are parallel to it. Few people, if any, will ever notice the difference, though. Gosh, I was hoping I could forever keep stuff like this hidden from you guys. This is a Revell "1960" (really a 1959) Corvette built from the Kandy Kiss issue way back when I was still in my brush painting phase. But wheel-wise, I did exactly what I described above - put the AMT wheelcovers on the Revell wheels. I kept this wreck only for the purpose to re-use the wheels on a new build.
  13. I'm convinced that list is not complete. The Fujimi Daihatsu Midget II and the Aoshima Datsun and Toyota pick up kits with surfboards are never listed in those lists, and I'm convinced a lot more is out there in Obscurekitland.
  14. there is my first problem. What's a custom doing in a hot rod magazine???
  15. Is no one making aftermarket light bars?
  16. Oh aye. No matter where you go, there are always a few normal people doing that kind of thing. Argentine in particular has a long tradition in motorsports. They have a series called 'Turismo Carreterra'. It is the oldest still active race formula in the world. None other than Juan Manuel Fangio got his first merits in it.
  17. What's the hold up?
  18. Yeah, and if they'd leave away those dizzy blondes, one could even see the hot rods.
  19. Don't drink it. Styrene is a toxic liquid. Model kits are not made from Styrene, but Polystyrene, which is a non-harmful plastic.
  20. Shall I repeat once more my opinion about what oafs run the model kit industry? They mean Polystyrene. Model kits are made from Polystyrene. But what do they know about anything?
  21. 'styrene to make the product'. I concluded with 'product' model kits are meant. And model kits aren't made from Styrene. They never were made from Styrene.
  22. Good thing then that model kits aren't made of Styrene. Even better that they aren't liquid.
  23. If that stuff was harmful, I'd be dead by now. The link to Wikipedia previously posted is misleading, since it is referring to Styrene, a toxic liquid more commonly known as Vinyl Benzene. However, as you may have noticed, model kits aren't liquid. This is due to the fact, that they aren't made of Styrene at all, but Polystyrene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polystyrene), which is a totally harmless plastic with no known health hazards.
  24. Thank you for providing the historic background of the car! That Opala sure is interesting too, and those race transporters! Are they Brazilian Fords?
  25. On one of my internet surf sprees, I came across this Maverick racer: Now here is a Maverick that actually can turn a corner after going straight for a quarter mile. It was raced in Argentine in the 1970s. I think it would just be a different thing to make from a Jo-Han Maverick. Hence I wanted to share it with you.
