where's GREG lost in ohio
Bill Coulter replied to Rick Forrester's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
He seemed in fine shape at lunch today, though there was something about reprogramming his GPS. BC -
I don't know about making home-made but I did learn a valuable lesson about the OTC brand. It will take automotive lacquer off. I was repairing a hood hinge this last week on a finished model. Somehow, somewhere along the way, a tiny drop of "bug juice" got onto the hood finish. I didn't notice it until a bit later. I thought it was just a water mark etc. Wrong. When I used a damp tissue to wipe it away, suddenly I could see the light gray primer. Just a perfect little circle where the automotive paint was gone. They say there isn't a day when we don't learn something. Sometimes I'd just a well stay ignorant. BC

Juha Airio came to town.
Bill Coulter replied to Modellpularn's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Certainly this is stated with no disrespect to any of the other great builders in this hobby we all love so much but Juha's replica stock work remains, in my opinion, the absolute best I've ever seen in print or in person. When you see him next time thank him for me. His building continues to amaze me with every new model I see. I'm a life-long confirmed car nut with a design degree. I just can't seem see some of the cars Juha builds in some of the stuff he starts with. Who would ever have guessed there was a mid-50's Studebaker hiding out inside a mid-50's Chevy. Just keep setting the bar higher and higher Juha! Bill Coulter -
Upcoming Shows for MCM
Bill Coulter replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Should I tell Shelton to set the table? BC -
Thanks Tim for the kind comments. What's the old adage about a blind hog finding an acorn once in a while? I am only traveling in well-worn footsteps in doing material for publication. I've got way too many projects going for an old man of 67. So many models to build, do little time. I have a few more things coming for Gregg and I'm looking at trying something interactive on this board. BC

Hi Robert... The answer is yes. But without digging out the ancient early copies of SAE I can't tell you for sure what issue it was in. I believe in was in issue No. 4 maybe. It was titled "Tale of Two Chevys", that much I know for sure. It was an article not so much about the AMT 72 Nova in particular but about building two models at the same time and swapping parts back and forth between them. Thanks for asking... BC

1980 David Pearson Hawaiin Tropic Chevy DONE!
Bill Coulter replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in WIP: NASCAR
Unless I missed it tell me something about the chassis etc. What color red did you use? I inherited one another guy built but it's not quite finished. Looks like No. 3 red which doesn't look dark enough to me based on reference photos I have. Another nicely done piece of vintage stock car work. Thanks... BC -
How old are you??
Bill Coulter replied to KT EASTMAN's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Peter... Please contact me. BC -
Thanks Dave... I thought I had some of those on hand. Though I have a box full of wheels and tires of all description I don't have those. I've got the smaller 19s I believe but no 23s. Very nice Mustang. I always judge a model by one simple rule. Would I like to display that model and proudly say, "I built that"? Always works for me. BC

Hi Dave... What's the product number on those Pegasus T's? Thanks... BC

Bill Coulter replied to KT EASTMAN's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Peter... Where ya' been bro? Did you get a new email address? Please contact me off-Forum when you get a chance. Thanks... BC -
That surely would have been one really looong post...70 plus pictures! Thanks... BC

I am so humbled and flattered to have received comments from someone of the status of Zoom Zoom that it leaves me almost speechless. Thank you Mr. ZZ... BC

For me to get that can of Testors paint is a 50 mile round trip so I went with what was available here in town. $4/gallon gas makes that local automotive paint look like an even bigger bargain. BC

Shot it with exactly what you see in the first photo, Plasti-kote white primer and Dupli-color yellow. BC

Gregg, Lyle... Man! I was scared I'd somehow slipped the space/time continum and accidently drifted into a telephonic convergence of The History channel meets Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone. Thanks for helping me get back into the present realm. I was really worried that if this is Ground Hog Day we are all in for a rough ride...over and over and over and... BC

Thanks Bill for the kind comments. I know how sensitive many builders are to the whole diecast thing but these two Mopars just blew me away. At my age I saw these cars when they were new and on the streets. Being an old industrial designer my designer's eye saw perfection in these two pieces that is rare even in the finest diecast models. Though MCM makes every effort to present the best in plastic, I told Gregg these two cars deserved a place in the magazine. BC

I would like to get in touch with Tom Anderson from Alabama. Tom has been known in the past for some of the best stock car models I had seen at the time. If you know how to reach Tom these days either contact me or have Tom contact me. Thanks... Bill Coulter

Thanks Jeff for the heads-up. Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. BC
