  3. Hello, Good question. Below is the point from page 1 regarding suspension changes. In my opinion, fitting modern suspension would most likely entail some believable modification to the original chassis/frame. However, this would still fit within the "modern upgrade" parameters; so you should be fine. Suspension: Modern upgrades permitted (i.e.: independent suspension) Circuit-only, extreme performance-type suspension is not permitted. Also, from page 1: Important: The builder should use their best judgment of what is within the spirit of the theme and guidelines. This year's build has a certain degree of subjectivity, therefore, it is up to the builder to decide if their modifications are within the guidelines and in keeping with the spirit of the theme and guidelines.

  5. Hello. If I'm understanding correctly, you made a separate build page for your entry. That build page is separate from the actual Cannonball thread. So, it's your choice if you wish to add to that page or start a finished page in °Under Glass." However, to be entered in the final vote, your finished entry must be posted in the Cannonball Official Build thread that will be opened on November 14th. I hope this helps!
  6. Hello! I hope everyone is well and that your builds are progressing. As we are nearing the final two months of the build, I would like to remind everyone of the important upcoming dates. 8. There's still just under three months of build time left. I say, grab a kit and join in on the greatest (scale) outlaw race!
  9. A brief update on the RX3: I made a new wheel set for the car that I've been thinking about for a while: the Techno Racing Yayoi wheels (also known as Sakura, or Cherry Blossom, in Japanese).
  10. Hello everyone! I hope your builds are progressing well. Indeed, we’re just three-and-half months away from the build finish. Cannonball History I would like to continue with some Cannonball history by taking a look at the four winners of the original Cannonball Run (1971-1979). 1971: 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB Daytona; Drivers: Brock Yates and Dan Gurney; Time: 35h 54m (-53min ahead) Image link 1972: 1972 Cadillac Coupe De Ville; Drivers: Steve “Yogi” Behr, Bill Canfield, and Fred Olds; Time: 37h 16m (-10min ahead) Image link 1975: 1973 Ferrari Dino 246GTS; Drivers: Jack May and Rick Cline; Time: 35h 53m (-1h 57min ahead) Image link 1979: 1978 Jaguar XJS; Drivers: Dave Heinz and Dave Yarborough; Time: 32h 51m (-8min ahead) Image link Just a reminder, next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the 1975 running. I've already got some theme ideas to commemorate the anniversary!
  11. Hello everyone! As we enter August, we are now four months away from the finish. There's still plenty of time to build, or even enter this year's Run. If you have any updates, we would certainly enjoy seeing them! Updated entry list: 1990 Ford Mustang (Fat Brian) 1974 Plymouth GTX (Lunajammer) VW Corrado Magnum (stitchdup) 1975 AMC Gremlin (Tim08) Nissan 240ZG (Spottedlaurel) 1957 Ford Fairlane (MeatMan) 1965 Buick Riveira (Keef) 1990 Ford Mustang LX (53gmc) ? 1967 Pontiac GTO (Pat Minarick) 1966 Ford Mustang (beans) 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS (Disconovaman) 1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (Westrods) 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Wagon (atomicholiday) 1974 Pontiac TransAm (Can-Con) 1967 Chevrolet Camaro (Camaro lover) 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz (Kermn8r) 1997 Ford Expedition (oldcarfan) Ferrari 512BB (avidinha) ? 1970 Chevrolet Malibu (KWT) 1972 Mazda RX3 (White Rabbit) 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee (slusher) 1971 Plymouth GTX (Bills72sj) VW Vanagon LLE (tooltime-fan) 2003 Chevrolet SSR (xbazzarex) 1984 Porsche 911 Turbo (Mattilacken) ? 1967 Chevrolet Impala (Jantrix) 1966 Chevrolet El Camino (NOBLNG) 1967 Ford Mustang GT (JimmyRiggens)
  12. Thank you! Yes, it's essentially a tablet, like an iPad. Like today's cars, it's for audio, GPS, phone, additional gauges, etc. It also functions as a design element that visually connects the dash to the center console; which references the original dash. My goal is to modernize while still staying true to the original design. Image reference
  13. Since I'm in so deep with this project now, I figured I might as well go flat-out on it. So, onto the dash it was. I converted the car to left-hand drive which also gave me the opportunity to modernize the dash. My goal is to modernize the interior, while still referencing the original design. For the dash, I removed the molded-in center stack and went for a floating dash design. The layout is similar, but where the stock dash flows into the center console, mine has a small break to a tablet that then flows into the console. The top of the dash will use the kit piece while the A/C panel will use the kit decal over the 3D surfaces. Gauge faces will be from the kit as well. Next is to redo the door panels so that their design blends with the remainder of the interior. A few details and adjustments, and the interior should be complete.
  14. Interior update: I made some adjustments to the front seats, particularly, the bolsters; and to the center console to better align the shifter with the seats.
  15. Hello all! I hope everyone's builds are going well. We've already passed the halfway point in this year's build. But, there are still four months and three weeks of build time. As for my entry, I've been spending time ideating the rear seats. The original idea was to have a rear seat delete option with luggage space in place of the seats. However, proportionally, I wasn't happy with the look. So, some rear seats have been tried. Below is the second design whereby the stock bench is replaced with a 2+2 set up. The design of the seats will match the front Recaro seats.
  16. Welcome to the forum and to the Cannonball Run! Current entry list. 1990 Ford Mustang (Fat Brian) 1974 Plymouth GTX (Lunajammer) VW Corrado Magnum (stitchdup) 1975 AMC Gremlin (Tim08) Nissan 240ZG (Spottedlaurel) 1957 Ford Fairlane (MeatMan) 1965 Buick Riveira (Keef) 1990 Ford Mustang LX (53gmc) ? 1967 Pontiac GTO (Pat Minarick) 1966 Ford Mustang (beans) 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS (Disconovaman) 1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (Westrods) 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Wagon (atomicholiday) 1974 Pontiac TransAm (Can-Con) 1967 Chevrolet Camaro (Camaro lover) 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz (Kermn8r) 1997 Ford Expedition (oldcarfan) Ferrari 512BB (avidinha) ? 1970 Chevrolet Malibu (KWT) 1972 Mazda RX3 (White Rabbit) 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee (slusher) 1971 Plymouth GTX (Bills72sj) VW Vanagon LLE (tooltime-fan) 2003 Chevrolet SSR (xbazzarex) 1984 Porsche 911 Turbo (Mattilacken) ? 1967 Chevrolet Impala (Jantrix) 1966 Chevrolet El Camino (NOBLNG) 1955 Ford F100 (JimmyRiggens)
  17. That reminded me of some photos in the Cannonball! book; particularly, those on pages 88 and 89. Safety was questionable, at best!
  18. Current entry list. 1990 Ford Mustang (Fat Brian) 1974 Plymouth GTX (Lunajammer) VW Corrado Magnum (stitchdup) 1975 AMC Gremlin (Tim08) Nissan 240ZG (Spottedlaurel) 1957 Ford Fairlane (MeatMan) 1965 Buick Riveira (Keef) 1990 Ford Mustang LX (53gmc) ? 1967 Pontiac GTO (Pat Minarick) 1966 Ford Mustang (beans) 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS (Disconovaman) 1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (Westrods) 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Wagon (atomicholiday) 1974 Pontiac TransAm (Can-Con) 1967 Chevrolet Camaro (Camaro lover) 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz (Kermn8r) 1997 Ford Expedition (oldcarfan) Ferrari 512BB (avidinha) ? 1970 Chevrolet Malibu (KWT) 1972 Mazda RX3 (White Rabbit) 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee (slusher) 1971 Plymouth GTX (Bills72sj) VW Vanagon LLE (tooltime-fan) 2003 Chevrolet SSR (xbazzarex) 1984 Porsche 911 Turbo (Mattilacken) ? 1967 Chevrolet Impala (Jantrix) 1966 Chevrolet El Camino (NOBLNG)
  19. Congratulations on completing your entry! It looks great!
  20. Interior modeling continues. I had the idea of removing the rear seats and replacing them with a luggage shelf; similar classic GTs. Here, I've blocked in the area and added two "suitcases." I would also add straps to hold everything down.
  21. Good idea! I've been sketching some ideas for a modified dash and may have an area to integrate some auxiliary power ports.
  22. Great updates, everyone! I've been working on the center console. Again, in the style of Singer, but adapted to the RX3. As of now, I'm thinking of running it directly between the rear seats; though, that may change when I get there. There is a phone charger up front, and power window switches behind the shift area. Next, the shift boot and knob.
  23. Current entry list. 1990 Ford Mustang (Fat Brian) 1974 Plymouth GTX (Lunajammer) VW Corrado Magnum (stitchdup) 1975 AMC Gremlin (Tim08) Nissan 240ZG (Spottedlaurel) 1957 Ford Fairlane (MeatMan) 1965 Buick Riveira (Keef) 1990 Ford Mustang LX (53gmc) ? 1967 Pontiac GTO (Pat Minarick) 1966 Ford Mustang (beans) 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS (Disconovaman) 1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (Westrods) 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Wagon (atomicholiday) 1974 Pontiac TransAm (Can-Con) 1967 Chevrolet Camaro (Camaro lover) 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz (Kermn8r) 1997 Ford Expedition (oldcarfan) Ferrari 512BB (avidinha) 1970 Chevrolet Malibu (KWT) 1972 Mazda RX3 (White Rabbit) 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee (slusher) 1971 Plymouth GTX (Bills72sj) VW Vanagon LLE (tooltime-fan) 2003 Chevrolet SSR (xbazzarex) 1984 Porsche 911 Turbo (Mattilacken) ? 1967 Chevrolet Impala (Jantrix) 1966 Chevrolet El Camino (NOBLNG)
  24. What I like about these companies is that, even though the cars are modified, the designers respect the original design. It's not a reimagining of what the car should be, rather an homage and modernization what the car is. In the Singer instance, every part is touched, but it's done so carefully and holistically, that it becomes seamless. Let me know if you start that company, 'cause I'm definitely in!
