  1. sorry to bring a old post up from the dead but my neighbor was up to his death was the #1 guy to go to for original parts for ford cammers. the 427 cammers started out as 427 side oiler blocks with aluminum sohc heads. there is a stub shaft where the cam would be in a standard 427 that turns the distrubutor and the oil pump. which is why it uses a 8 ft timing chain. these old cammers were and are very powerful engines. i've had the chance to drive a 484ci stroker cammer in a custom 34 ford coupe plus a 70 mustang with a 427 ci cammer and a top loader 4spd. jeckle and hyde is the best description for these monsters. easy going while cruising with just the sound of the exhaust and timing chain purring along till you hammer it and you jump 6 or 7 cars ahead side ways wondering if your gonna live and can i pay for this. now if i can just ever get behind a boss 429! which is a 385 series ford big block hemi! maybe one day since john kasse has started developing street boss heads for the 429 - 460 engines!
  2. 77mgb? sweet! my pop an his brother both have 72 mg midgets. my uncles is all original while my pop has a turbo dohc 4g64 out of a mitsu galant in it. both are very fun cars
  3. i want to say the 73 chassis is the same its longer than the 72 down chassis. i do know you can use the rear control arms fron a 70 chevelle in a 75 laguna from personal experince.
  4. if not a starion how about the first car mitsu called evolution......the AWD Starion! funny how that works
  5. thinking about it i wonder if it would have used a exhaust system like a t-bolt had. open headers but with the stock single exhaust hooked to the side of one header. true t-bolts have thestock muffler in the stock location an since it is hooked up to one header a lil exhaust does go through it.
  6. http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/feat...t/photo_04.html most def a ponch ohc 6
  7. looks good! i remember seeing this car at his shop here in hueytown.
  8. got hooked up by a buddy who works at the thrift store of all places! i got 2 94 gt stang kits with enought to build one good one an a body to play with! also picked up a 69 mach1 and another 93 cobra at hobby lobby.
  9. Fords and drag cars. love the stangs and t-bolts an torinos. the ocassional bow tie (ie 70-81 camaro) mopars when i can find em. and the ocasional japanese oddball import.
  10. http://www.houstonmopars.org/2004sr/picsbe...cturesbena.html scroll down through these pics as there is a side profile plus a engine pic of the 67 S&M GTX
  11. what makes this special is while ford showed some pics of a very early 71 boss 302 car it was always accepted that the car was destroyed till this guy bought this particular car from a elderly lady on ebay of all places. what makes it so cool is the car is pretty much all there except of course the boss 302 engine! its rough but in very sound shape. there are only two pics of this car back in 71 as a boss 302 car but what is very interesting is there is a pic of a guy standing next to a early 71 boss 351 that is setup identical to this car (ie non ram air with mach 1 style hockey stripes) with what looks to be a very homade boss 351 decal.
  12. i promise i didn't mean to offend but making an asumption about someone soley based on outward apperances is just as ignorant as judging someone by their skin color. i'm sorry you took offence and i do apologize for that.
  13. true but in the same vein it could be said your just as much a racist by labeling everyone who has a battle flag (historical or not) in to the same group much the same as the old cliches of nascar and budweiser for the south. but those who do not live here do not get to see the dual nature of what we call down here the 'southern thing' to give an eample through all the bs we went through with george wallace he still won his last run for office with 99% of the black vote. thats fact and knowing the history of george wallace and who he was it does go to show the duality of the "southern thing"
  14. ok folks its official there was and is a 1971 boss 302 mustang! sooooo whos gonna whip up the needed decals for a 71kit? for that matter who makes a correct 71 stang?
  15. suffice it to say the battle flag brings with it a ton of baggage. there are those who fly it or show it off out of respect to those who died for it or for historical purposes and yes there are those who show it off out of disrespect to others. and while its really easy and convenient to group everyone into one group and tout that they are all backwoods racists this is simply not the case.....not even close. there is two sides to every coin and a whole lot of gray in between. just how everyone swears southerners love nascar and budweiser its just not the case.
  16. as far as i can remember the tails are all the same for the 78-84 but on the quad head light 'bu's they had the front turn singnal moved to the side of the fender. i've got a 78 an 80 camino an my pop has a 79 bu and a 82 camino while a budy of has a 78 bu and a 81 camino. lol so we got those covered

    79 Camaro

    sweet Z28! i had a1:1 80 4spd Z28 that i let get away!
  18. some that i would pay cash for would be a 78 ford ltd2 a 87-89 widebody conquest / starion a 93 daytona iroc a 85-86 mustang and a correct 71 mustang. oh an a note on the 78-81 malibu each year has a unique grill and head light trim setup. just try to find the 80 grill for a 1:1! it was a 1 year deal and there are no repos or replacements left!
  19. 7 years old and the first kit i built was a amt 40 ford coupe. it originally had a flathead but i got a boss 429 mill from a guy at school and i swedged it in. i took the kit to school once and some dude stole it. it was about 4 years later when i got the poor ford back in the mail with a note saying he was sorry. so i still got my first kit
  20. the original document that was presented to the federal government states the higher taxes that were placed on textiles at the time to be the main cause of the civil war. this is what one of the curators of the smithonian intsitute told us when our high school class went for a visit. i guess i can see the flag in a funny kinda of light as i had family that fought for the confederates and also for the union. they were brothers and one had found the others body in shilo and brought him home. personally i belive the moronic groups who have adopted and twisted the meaning of the flag should have been stopped before it got out of hand. but its true we have as many blacks that fly the flag as whites in birmingham alabama. but to say everyone who flies it is a hate monger is a lil bit of a blanket opinion. never judge a book just by its cover only. an if you want to know when i see the flag i get a lil pain in my heart because of what my family might have been if that flag nor the war came to be.
  21. thats cool! on a side note i have a 1/32 revell/amt modern car kit 1956 mercury montclair 4dr sport sedan that is unassembled and in the original 1956 issue box. my pop gave it to me as it used to be his.
  22. thats one sweet 40! my very first kit was a ol amt 40 ford that i massaged a boss 429 in it. still got it!
  23. those are sweet! who makes that kit? its that chassis that would later in 82 become the starion/ conquest chassis.

    Bronco

thats a wicked bronco!! since my personal tuck is a bright red F-150 4X4 Ranger i'm just a wee bit bias to big red 78-79 ford trucks! i wish out LHS had one of those kits in stock!
  25. the first car i fell in love with was a..........72 ford maverick. but it was powered by a highriser 427 8v with a set of custom 180% headers. it was music! and made one heck of a lasting impression.
