Is this how a supercharger is supposed to look? I can't find a decent pic of the real thing that looks anything like this. I guess we are going with it.

Let's say I wanted to replace the alternator...any tips? If I cut of the cylinder thingy, the diameter of the pulley covers all the front detail of the add on piece. I really do not want to reconstruct the belts.

I first notice a significant amount of flash throughout the sprues. Choosing race car wheels. No BMF on this baby. The side molding's gotsta go. A rare chance to get out the Dremel.

Did your kit have the backseat in the tub? If so, did you cut it out? Do you have pics of your interior?

Gonna build me a Mercury! Inspirational pic. I see this rendition posted on the forum. I can only hope to do gami8630's version justice.

Random question: Having not looked at one in years, are modern "Snap-togethers" any more technical than than those years past?

I have a random can of purple paint that's been starring at me for a while. I look at my stash and nothing was saying purple, so why not a Caddy.

Then what size to choose? There are multiple options. I could not get a snapshot. These are close to what I want but not quite. Sorry my 1:1 car knowledge is lacking. -
How might I run a search for these type of wheels? They are for a '64 Mercury Marauder - AMT 1:25 scale. Do we have favorite vendors for this type of product? Ebay, etc. can be such a rabbit hole. I particularly like the protruding lugs and valve stem. Oh, and tires too. Thanks, Cal

Hi Len, fabulous build. I'm just starting the AMT 1294/12 kit. I don't know any history of the original, but I'm digging the color scheme. Not that I could ever get close to this level of detail, I would like to ask what kit you started with. You mentioned the AMT Ford chassis. Does that include the the suspension and exhaust? My kit does not have the side protruding pipes (way cool). And I love the detail on the steelie wheels. I would welcome any tips you can offer. Thanks, Cal

Kit purchasing questions.
CA Whitecloud replied to CA Whitecloud's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Gosh! Now I may consider dishing out some dough. In full disclosure, I am not any bit the aficionado in model kit history or the engineering of the real thing as many of you. All these insights are very interesting. As far as the building goes, I welcome a challenge but don't want to bite off too much. I mostly build for myself...and my shelf. I love all the loud colorful decals (not the patience for Rally of NASCAR decals). Also, agreed on the price of the Caddy. Unless it is an actual collectable that may appreciate. PS. When did they start calling them Funny Cars? -
Are these good/decent deals? I know a lot of variables. If I do plan on building them are they that nice? I hear so much about Jo-Han kits, but is that just for collecting? Thanks.

Listen to me all cocky, "Put it to Bed". Ha, sill lots of opportunity to FUBAR. What I meant was it seems like this build has drawn on due to weather constraints, I just want to be done. Mostly, I wanted to spend more time on the finish. I recently added a moisture extraction device to my painting regime. But it's just too wet to spray outside to even give it a good try.

Time to put this one to bed. I'm still sad the decals didn't work out. Especially the little NISSANs on the hood and boot.

A belated Christmas post. I saw a few of you show these type of kits. I think my family heard me crying about not be able to paint outside in the winter. Any insights on wood models? The large Chevy box is a Kg+.

Wow! I've never heard of ABARTH. I'll go ahead and ask where that make is from before Ace tells me to google it.
