I literally just replaced every picture at the top of this posting. I think it has come out much better now.

Well, I lied. The final pictures of the Revell 1962 Volkswagen Samba Bus were not final. I found several issues my OCD just could not live with. I redid the deluxe stainless trim that goes around the entire body fixed some other smaller issues and decided I couldn’t live with the canvas samba roof. I decided to make one from scratch from cotton cloth. I will be taking new photos later today. kit top scratch made top real vintage bus picture

Yeah, the multi-piece body did take some work to get to fit together well. I would certainly recommend not following the instructions and assembly it ahead of paint.

I actually thought this one took me quite awhile at just over 6 weeks. 😀 I can’t actually take credit for the color combination, this was my daughter’s choice to go with blue-white over Teal Green. I would have gone with Ivory over Seal Wax red. The whole build was her idea. She slipped the kit in my cart a while back when we were picking up supplies at my local hobby shop and said I had to build it, SOON! 😁 The license plate is actually her nickname and favorite number.

Just completed the build on the Revell 1962 Volkswagen 23 Window Samba Bus. Paint is Scale Finishes correct Blue-White over Teal Green topped off with Splash paints 2K clear. The multi-piece body was quite a chore to get to fit together well and I did assemble the body and modify the chassis before painting. I could never have gotten it to fit afterwards per the instructions. I also made a match surfboard to go with it. UPDATE: I have replaced all of the pictures for this post today. Thank You! Should be finishing up this evening. Just a couple of things left. I was finally able to get the rear door to close well, that was frustrating. Will likely be doing a final polish and Under glass photos by tomorrow.

Quite a bit more assembly work done on the Revell 1962 VW Samba Bus. Finished up the lighting, added a few windows, bumpers, etc. I installed the side doors and even though I trial fit before paint it gave me some issues to get the to align well. Still quite a bit more assembly and some things that are not quite up to par to attempt to correct.

Thank You. Getting the wiring to the speedo and headlights was a chore this time around. No space really between the inner wall and front face of the bus. had to cut in channels. Thank you! Thank You!

Making progress on the Revell 1962 Volkswagen Samba. Made a stand for the surfboard, added diorama sand. Wet Sanded and polished the body panels and started final assembly.

Got the 2K clear on the VW Samba Bus, some detail painting and separated the painted parts for assembly. 2K clear coated the matching surfboard I created for it too. Plug wires, vacuum lines and battery cables.

Finally getting back to the Samba Bus. Got base coat of much of the parts painted. I still need to 2k clear the body and chassis. Probably tomorrow. I am making a matching surfboard to go with it.
