I was quite impressed with the Revell chrome spray but yes, it ain't cheap! Painted the wheels and bumpers on my Ram 50 with it.
-
The paint is Montana Cans Montana Effect Champaign, and I just realized I did a stupid. I completely forgot I also bought a can of their primer to use on plastic before using their paint, I was never planning to use the Tamiya primer. Stuff happens when you get old...

Working on a NH state police car using the Lindberg Charger kit, I primed the hood and laid down 3 coats of metallic Champaign for the roof and hood but I ended up with this odd line on the hood. There is another line in the same spot on the underside. The metallic flake looks like it's laying differently on either side of the line. This line was visible in the plastic before I painted as well. I thought the Tamiya primer might take care of it but apparently not. Best way to fix it?

The Ram is coming along, bed is mounted to the frame and the rear bumper is on. As expensive as it is the Revell chrome spray is the best option for those of us without an air brush. I could have used a Molotow chrome pen but they don't come out nearly as smooth on large surfaces.

Been working on the Impala, did some sanding and another couple coats of black paint, it's not perfect but it'll do. Working on getting the body trimmed out now.
-
Got the chassis completed, test fit the bed, looks much better than the stock wheels and tires that stuck out way too far and these wheels are more accurate to what I had.

My DD in the early 90's was a '72 Gran Torino, unfortunately a reasonably priced model kit doesn't exist for that one.

I was happy with the paint as is but thought I'd do a bit of polishing of the roof and hood. My 3 Tamiya polishing compounds are kept together with an elastic. Did the course on the roof, grabbed what I thought was the fine, turned out to be my Tamiya filler putty. Tried to get it off but just ended up smearing it around, and that stuff goes off almost instantly when its really thin. So had to sand it down, now waiting on a warm day to respray. This is what happens when you're not paying attention. The next project is gonna be the car I had before this, an '81 Dodge Omni 024 which was my first car, bought that not long after getting to Norfolk fresh out of boot camp, the MPC Silver Bullet arrived today from eBay for that one.

Currently building a replica of the 86 Ram 50 I had in the late 80's while in the Navy. Will be mostly stock, wheels and bumpers are sprayed with Revell Chrome, wheels are from the Wild Hoss Bronco, tires are from the Country Charger. Tonneau cover is a piece of craft cardboard sprayed with plasti-dip. I had the quad headlight version, have a resin grill on order from spencer1984 on Shapeways, that will also be painted red, my truck had a silver grill when I purchased it but I painted it red soon after. I seem to remember the air cleaner being that odd green color but not 100%, so that's what I painted it. Gonna do a bit of paint polishing and detailing before final assembly.

Still looks good despite all the trouble it gave you. -
I'd be going to corporate with that, charge you for bags, bags break and you lose $60 in groceries, they'd be getting an earful.

Those 20 year old appliances would have probably outlasted the new ones!

Damn scammers are everywhere nowadays (even at McD's it seems), gotta always be on your toes.

We bought a matched set of GE appliance 5 years ago, so far the dish washer and stove have been fine but the plastics on the fridge and microwave seem to be breaking down. The bottom shelf of the fridge that holds the crisper drawers broke twice. Replaced it the first time for $80, 2nd time I just created some brackets out of flat metal stock and bolted the broken plastic back together. About a year ago the plastic vent cover behind the microwave door fell apart, still worked without it. Then the display lost a couple segments. Then it blew its internal fuse, replaced that (clips on plastic control panel broke apart while removing the 2 screws holding it on) and it started tripping the breaker. The interwebs said it was likely 1 or more bad door switches. We're trying whirlpool this time around, no more GE for us.

Nice! I'm still waiting on my pre-order to ship.
-
Ahh, ok, makes sense.
-
I have some Tamiya polishing compound coming (course, fine, and finish), I might try that first before I attack it by sanding.
-
Much thanks, and correct on the white flecks. As was said, worst case is strip and start over as a last resort.
-
That makes sense. This is the best pic I could get, which makes it look more textured than it actually is. Think I'll wait a couple days for it to fully cure then try a bit of sanding and put another coat of black down.

One of my first models after not building for 30 years is the Supernatural Impala. With it warming up outside I got started on spraying the body. I did the hood today (Tamiya gloss black rattle can), even though the primer looked good and I sanded that with I think 8000 grit I still got a small section that looks dull/scuffed. Should I sand that again and respray or will the clear (gonna use floor polish) make it disappear?

Is there anyone on here that designs and sells resin prints? I'm wanting the quad headlight grill for the Dodge D50 pickup. It used to be available on shapeways but has since disappeared. -
Looks awesome! I have a soft spot for Torino's, I had a 72 as a DD back in the early 90's. Would love to model it but alas there are no reasonably priced options.
-
Gonna put one on my to do list!

A test fit of the weapons box on the Supernatural Impala after getting the trunk base installed to make sure everything fits. -
Awesome detail, and that's a serious red
