The Supernatural Impala is my first attempt at cutting the trunk, kind of a must do on this car for the sigil decal and all the goodies that are kept there. Have it mostly cut out and the hinges in place.

These are currently my only 2 diecast, was a big fan of the show and watched it back in its first run and watch it today, one of the main reasons I became a volunteer FF/EMT. These are by Iconic Replicas, 1:50 scale 50th anniversary.

Thanks, not super happy with the seats in the charger, still perfecting brush painting Tamiya acrylic paints, may go over them with some semi gloss enamel to see if they'll look better, not that you'll notice once it's assembled.
-
The Charger is also progressing, most of the chassis and interior is done. Took a chance on the open box but so far no major issues.
-
Time for an update. The Supernatural Impala is coming along, chassis is together and engine is in, front & rear is detailed. This is the first time I've tried opening a trunk, got it mostly cut out but wanted to get the hinges made before completely removing it, waiting for some brass to arrive.

Brush painting Tamiya acrylics?
DaveB replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I was researching this very issue yesterday as I've experienced the same thing with Tamiya acrylics. From what I found a possible solution is to mix in some Tamiya thinner as it contains a retarder to slow the drying time. Even though I just spent a decent chunk of money on Tamiya acrylics (just got back into modelling) I'm seriously considering replacing them all with lacquer even though they stink and it's harder to clean the brushes. I just bought a jar of Tamiya acrylic flat aluminum and the coverage is awful, must have 2 coats which ends up with the 1st paint layer being pulled. -

I've looked over all the settings I could find but can't find a way to enable the option to automatically follow a new thread I create? I've been manually going back to them and clicking the follow button, is there an easier way?

All that detail would be cool, but no one but me would know that stuff is there, and it's money better spent on modeling supplies!
-
I'm not a fan of black interiors but sometimes it can't be helped for accuracy if that's a concern, any good ways to restore some of that detail? I was thinking a medium or dark gray panel line accent like the Tamiya black? Any better options?

? I suspect that number will go higher, I get bored easily!
-
I may forgo the sunroof, none of my current stock has a piece to donate for it. It's not gonna be 100% accurate but it'll be close, keeping an eye on ebay for a set of wheels/tires so I can have a spare on the back rather than the tire cover. Gonna 3D print the Jerry cans.

I will usually work on a few models at once so I don't get bored trying to get one finished, plus I gotta wait for it to warm up so I can spray my bodies outside. Current works are the Supernatural Impala in show form (wife and I are fans), so far only the interior is finished, working up the courage to cut open the trunk after watching some YT vids. The Wild Hoss Bronco is going to be built as a Paramedic Bronco from the 240 Robert TV show (you old guys should remember that), it's the only one that's getting close to completion. The 3rd is the AMT Charger police car that I'm doing in NH State Police livery, I also have the 2021 Charger pursuit on pre order to do the same with. This one was purchased open box on ebay for cheap money, has hard minimal assembly done, but it was done poorly/incorrectly, luckily what ever glue they used was either older than my grandmother or just bad as the parts I needed to remove and redo came off with little hassle or damage. I plan on keeping this thread updated with my progress if all goes well, I have a habit of forgetting to take progress photos. These are my first models in 30 years, so feel free to offer any tips or constructive criticism.

Michaels getting rid of models?
DaveB replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I stopped by our local Michaels over the weekend as I'm getting back into building, they had a rather limited supply, but I found a clearance section which had 3 of Dom's Charger and 3 of the GMC plow truck for $2.98 each, all 6 went home with me. -
Hello all, I've decided to get back into modeling after 30 years or so. I was doing RC cars but enjoyed building more than running them, plus they take up too much room, looking forward to getting some tips from you all and seeing your builds. I've already started a couple kits (I work on a few at a time so as not to get bored with one) and the collection of kits seems to be growing at an alarming rate.
