  1. Thanks guys! I have another combo plus one Earnhardt one because I liked them so much. I'm planning on a #29 Tim Richmond and a #90 Jody Ridley at some point. I saw a picture of a #21 Valvoline one Buddy Baker ran briefly in 83 that looked super cool too!
  2. It's been over 25 years since I last touched a model kit. After hours of lurking here and YouTube I jumped back in. My first build is this Monogram Thunderbird from the Legends Combo, building as Benny Parsons' #15 Bud Moore car. I'm a little rusty, but it looks OK. No major details except paint and opening up the wheels, which I did swap out with some from a Wrangler Grand Prix since I need 5-hole Welds for that build. Now time for the body, just need a little warmer and drier weather for paint...
  3. Kinda went a little wild on ebay lately. Sadly I don't have a hobby shop within 100 miles. I sold a bunch of old Tonka projects and bought these.
  4. Going though my photos, found some Hot Wheels restorations and customs I did. I planned on doing a whole "Sweet 16" set but kinda lost interest. I was spending up to $40 a car! They were definitely a learning experience though, got experience with plating and airbrushing, and very tiny waterslides!
  5. Thought I would share some Tonka, Nylint, and Structo builds I did a couple years ago. I built a few customs for friends and restored some for my kids. Alot of sandblasting and powdercoating, but unfortunately I was in my barely heated shop so it got old.
  6. I love the Square Birds. I've got five on the shelf, starting one this weekend after seeing this awesome example!
  7. This body. I'm not skilled enough to modify a Salvinos Lemans, and I need it in 1/24 to fit the Monogram Chassis, I don't think the 1/25 version out there will work for me.
  8. Hoss Ellington and Terry Link tried both the Grand Prix and Can AM around 1977-78, Ellington actually withdrew the GP for a Cutlass at Daytona that year.
  9. Wow, that place is awesome! Thanks again for the recommendation!
  10. Thanks, I'll check them out!
  11. I'm on the lookout for two sets of 1/24 decals, both 1983 NASCAR cars, one is Ronnie Thomas' #41 Advance Auto, and I'd like to do a #05 Bruce Jacobi at some point, if anyone ever tried to make a set, I realize most photos of that car are not from the best circumstances. Thanks in advance!
  12. Has anyone ever made an early 80s NASCAR Chevy Malibu body, in 1/24? I can find every early 80s Cup body but this one. Is or was it ever made?
  13. Thanks. I might have to do some custom work. I'm looking for a NASCAR version, like was ran a few times. It's funny that every stock car body from the early 80s is available except this one.
  14. Unless they were undercoated they were usually body color I believe.
  15. After life got busy, I decided to return, especially to share this hobby with my 8 and 11 year Olds, get them off the tablets and working with their hands. I built a lot in the 90s, then life took over. In the last few years I restored some redline Hot Wheels, and 60's Tonkas, now back to these when not racing my dirt track fwd car (building a Neon atm). I love 80s NASCAR, so that will be my focus, along with helping my boys with what they choose. I've been lurking the last few days, alot of very talented builders! Hopefully I can shake the rust and keep up!
  16. Has anyone ever made a resin, or modified a body to recreate the 80-82 Malibu Cup car, like the one Dave Marcis won in? I've looked all over with little luck, I'd love to find or possibly make a 1:24 version that fits the Monogram Chassis. Has anyone maybe merged a Salvino LeMans with a R-M ElCamino nose? Just getting back into it and want to start building some obscure early 80s Cup rides. Thanks in advance for any help!
