This kit is definitely unfamiliar to some of the members of this forum. This is one of the only 2 kits made for Lindberg’s “Super Car Series”, a detailed 1/32 kit series, which otherwise has the Porsche 911, which seems to be even rarer. This was a kit I sought after for some time, and I’ve now finally got the opportunity to build and complete it. A definitely unpopular kit in its heyday, it only got 2 unique issues, the regular red sprue version with extra customizing parts, and an unfortunately decontented white sprue IMSA version, which is the one I have. The IMSA version seems to be the cheaper of the 2 versions, as the regular version seems to go around 30 dollars, which seems a bit much for a kit like this, especially since bigger 1/24 or 1/25 C4 kits can be had for 20 dollars in my experience. (I got this for 10 dollars btw) For what it is though, it’s a surprisingly detailed kit at 1/32 scale with a completely separate drivetrain and exhaust, though it seems that it could be a copy of the AMT corvette kit as the sprues seem familiar to the AMT. So starting on the kit, the body seems to be in decent condition, with a shine to the plastic, only hampered by the scratches when you look closer into the body. It has detailed engravings of the backup lights, license plate, and gas cover. Unfortunately the body is noticeably flawed, with the worst being the rear’s parting lines starting to separate from the rest of the body. 😟 The rest of the body seems to just have regular mold lines though, as well as excess flash. This car is absolutely tiny! The chrome sprue tree seems to still have a nice shine, even after over 30 years, probably due to the kit being in a dry climate in its life. The engine, oil pan , and transmission are molded into one, split into 2 halves to be assembled together. The stock wheels are there, as well as the front corner lights and the rest of the engine bits. Unfortunately the taillights seem to just be chrome pieces you glue into the model. 🙁 Overall, the detail isn’t nothing to write home about, and it seems a bit simplified as well, but it may actually be beneficial at this small of a scale. This sprue with the rest of the engine parts seems to be a direct copy of the AMT sprue, just with less fidelity and a set of custom challenge wheels, which fit the IMSA aesthetic. A pretty simplified set up of the rear suspension, with hood hinges and brake discs(?) included. There’s also a roll bar, but it’s too dinky to actually be realistic, so i may consider forgoing that bit. Not much to say here other than that it’s a simple interior with some flash on the parts. There are holes for the dinky roll bar. Airdam seems to be a separate part from the body, as it’s on a sprue away from the body. There’s also a somewhat distorted dashboard, and a hood with cut outs for the non existent hoodscoop. I assume the other regular version has that bit. That kinda sucks. 🙁 Some pretty decent tires are included, with tire lettering on the sides to boot! They seem to be Goodyear Eagle VR50s. Decal sheet seems fine, though it’s just a generic livery. Instructions seem to be serviceable, with a good enough detail to be seen. Interesting that there is Japanese text on there though. Was this sold in Japan at one point? Overall, this kit seems to be just a shrunken down ANT kit, but the detail for its size is worth the 10 bucks for me. I do encourage feedback, as I don’t want to mess up a unique kit like this.

Rebuilt '90s Chevy pickup
dietgilroy replied to Can-Con's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
cool build you have here. this gives me a little inspiration to try build more of these old 90s amt kits in a custom style like this one -
After the 1957 Corvette, are you planning to build the C4 Corvette 1/16?
-
Others may have more detail or more wild customization in their builds, but you’re so good at it the model looks real!

i recommend you build it, since nobody has seemed to build one yet on the internet. -
didn’t know that kit had an lt5. i only knew that the zr1 and boyd’s hauler kits have it. anyways, is the engine any good? (accuracy, detail, etc.)
-
if you do the 1974 cuda, i’d recommend using that cool nose cone front, maybe with a few alterations to make it a little better.
-
rad 1st gen vette you got. tbh maybe you should use parts from that new 1960 corvette by mpc also recommend using an lt5 engine from an amt kit with suspension from it as an option
-
is this engine from the amt kit?
-
cool photoetch detail!
-
pretty nice interior how could i do carpet like that
-
not that many images but it’s a continuation of a stalled project i initially thought this as a street racer, but now i decided to make this more like a custom so i decided to just remove ghe doorhandles and clean up the body a little more to give it that custom look instead

why is it so tall

A question for Mr. Goldman - Re Round 2
dietgilroy replied to iwantmodels's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
i hope you find the toolings for the fiero and other 90s toolings as well. also for reissuing glue kits like the Viper RT and GTS and more, will you resize the wheels to be more accurate? and maybe do some more changes to make the GTS more accurate? and for kits that had different variations (Fiero, C4 Corvette, Silverado, 3rd and 4th gen F Bodies, etc.), why not make it so you can have different bumper variations in the same box? -

Steve, will we get the MPC Fiero, and the majority of the contemporary AMT Ertl model kits made in the 90s (SN95, 4th gen Camaro, Taurus, Explorer, etc.) reissued at some point? (hopefully the SN95 Cobra) -
man you really emphasized what’s good in this old diecast

oh ok i did have a better experience with the Monogram kit, but only because I was better at building it than an AMT kit.
