AMT 1950 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup (Unocal 76)
Sketch1982 replied to Sketch1982's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thank you all very much. I got the rear panel of the cab on & glued in place. Hoping to paint next week, weather permitting. This will probably be the first of my models I share on here. Again, I'm absolutely no professional, but I build them to look good on a shelf LOL -

Man I truly appreciate all of your suggestions! Thank you so much -
Thank you!

I did these about 3 years ago for fun. NASCAR has their throwback race at Darlington every year, and a lot of us nitro junkies wish NHRA would do the same thing. Please note...the Corvette body is based off today's C8. Yes, the real car is mid-engined & funny cars are not (with the exception of the guys that tried it in the 70s i.e. Jim Dunn...) BUT I think since NHRA allows a 2025 Charger 2-DOOR body, then why couldn't Chevrolet run a front-engined C8? Remember, these were all done just for fun. Hope y'all enjoy!

Thank you for your response buddy. I appreciate it. Yeah the builders on here absolutely blow me away. That's exactly how mine looks currently. I'm going to keep trying to work on it, but I hope I don't completely ruin it. -
Has anyone else had fitment issues with this kit or am I just that bad at building models? The lower rear portion of the cab is so ridiculously out of tolerance in comparison to the body that if I cut/file any more out of each, I'm afraid I'm going to ruin it. Even with all of the thick styrene cossmembers on the chassis, it's warped heavily. I've been trying to correct it with a hot water bath. I'm not knocking AMT by any means and I'm by NO MEANS an experienced modeler, but this is the first kit I've came across that I've had pretty massive issues with. I've watched several YouTube videos of people who have built the kit, and they all comment on how "there were no real issues with this kit", so I was wondering if I really am just not good enough yet for this one. I'm building this as a Christmas gift for my mother because she turned 76 this year (hence the Unocal truck). I'm a box stock builder, not an expert whatsoever.

I’m looking for the 3 parts in this picture. I’m building this kit as a gift for my mother. Unfortunately, I knocked the built assembly off my bench & unknowingly stepped on it. I believe all of these AMT 50 3100 kits have the same inline 6 in them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Trying to keep from having to buy another kit for 3 parts. Thanks in advance

Resin or 3D printed funny car body question
Sketch1982 replied to Sketch1982's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you all for the advice. I’ve always drooled over these funny car builds with resin bodies & never knew how folks pulled them off. Again, greatly appreciate the tips! -
I bought a re-issued Don Garlits 1/25 Revell dragster this past weekend.I believe I can get the front wheel pants & side wings from some spare AMT/MPC kits that I have. I'm needing the decals for the '71 Keeling & Clayton rear-engined dragster that Revell produced in the early 70s. I believe Slixx used to produce these several years ago, but they're long gone from their website, ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

Love this! Good looking ride for sure. Been wanting to get one of the Tony Foti LAPD kits for a while to do a tribute to Jeff Waddle's "Wild Bunch" car. Just have to figure out how to do zoomies on it & get someone to make decals for me
