Peterbilt 359 Revell AG
camarobuilder replied to BlackDragon's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very nice build! -
This technique may not be contest quality, but it will give you a cheap and easy representation of braided lines, without having to fumbl with separate hose ends and line. I actually use kite string that I paint with Testors "chrome" for the steel braid and simply paint red and blue bands around the ends to simulate the A/N fittings. I use a small drop of Devcon epoxy to make tees. Frank

Very nice build! How did you get the headlights and turn signals to look so realistic? The kit has it all molded in chrome. Frank

Would anyone else be interested in the new generation of COPO Camaro? These cars are extremely popular in the 1:1 world, but are high dollar. The first 2014 just sold for $700,000 at Barret Jackson. I just sent an e mail to Revell with a kit suggestion.

I see a whole lot of parts I want! Love the 4-link, struts, carbs, and shifter housing... Frank -
What would you like to see made?

How about more drag car kits? Modern Pro Stocks? Pro Mofifieds? Pro Street? Maybe a tube chassis Pro Street Camaro kit? -

A GOOD kit with realistic rod ends, rod material, and pivots for twin carburetor linkage... Not the photoetched stuff. Frank -
I like them all... Very nice work Frank

I haven't forgot about this build. Back in January, I had a brief stay in the hospital. I had an ellergic reaction to some IV antibiotics, which caused some pretty serious vision problems. As you might imagine, it's hard to do the detail work without proper vision...LOL I'm going for vision treatments, and the doc's tell me that it should get back to normal, but I'm gonna need eye surgery. I'm not giving up, and hopefully I'll be back to this by the end of summer. Thanks, Frank

Idea for wheelie bar wheels
camarobuilder replied to jsimmons's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I use rubber 0-rings in the correct diameter of the rubber, itself...Not the ring. I slice the o-ring to the correct thickness, and you've got a real rubber wheel. Frank -
What did you use to makw the spark plug boots? The paint and detail are amazing... Frank

JBOT Surprises
camarobuilder replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
JBOT just did a set of custom stripes for a Pro Street 2010 Camaro I'm building. He took alot of time to get them exactly as I wanted. He even sent me a few samples before he did the whole set. His work is excellent. I also got a set of his "Movin On" stripes for the Kenworth I'm building. I couldn't be happier with them, either. JBOT is definitely my new decal source. Frank -
How radical of a Pro Street? The chassis from the older Monogram 1/24 Pr Stocks fits very well in the AMT "2006" Camaro body. The Reher Morrison camaro, Frank Iaconio Camaro, STP Pontiac, Pennzoil Pontiac, White Lihtning Firebird, and Mean and Nasty Camaro all used this chassis. Frank

...If you cast it, they will come!...LOL Seriously, if you cast this, or provide it as a master for a resin caster, you're sure to sell a boat load, This is one bad ass Chevelle. Frank -
Many of your pictures make mine look like rookie stuff, but here's my contribution Frank

... A work of art so far. Beautiful body mods that just look "right" Frank -
excellent work and detail. Frank

...Just got some resin back ffrom Chrome Tech. Turned out perfect. Frank

That's also a great idea with a very convincing outcome. Great work. Frank

...Also wanted to add this thought. If you notice where I made a "tee" at the fuel line junction, think about how easy that is...A loop for the carb bowls, and another piece glued in the tee. Paint and that's it... I can attest to the fact that working with real braid and fittings is a real PITA...LOL, and it's ALOT more expensive. A roll of kite string, a tube of Krazy glue, some chrome, blue, and red paint is all you need. Remember, these pictures are pretty extreme close ups. It looks much better from normal viewing distance.
