Very cool. If you weren't around then, you'd think funny cars were all nitro, blown, professionally built and engineered. Hardly. Almost ALL were homebuilt amateur rigs made for appearance money as well as fun racing. The average was pretty stock motors, usually injected on maybe 25%. Just enough to make it LOUD and put some fire in the pipes! Unsafe? YEP! there was much talk of outright banning these cars, guys died, spectators died. BUT they were just too popular. Eventually the NHRA and insurance underwriters woke up and set some practical rules. But the were still dangerous as heck. Try Popular Hot Rodding, Drag Racing, Drag strip and some other less" factory" minded mags. LOTS of funny cars and match racers you never saw before. Surf eBay and study the thumbnail descriptions. Google is almost useless these days. As for instruments and layout, if you seen one you seen 'em all, Minimalist at best! Great work, this Corvair would be considered "professional" and super sanitary!

Like the ones resin caster ship their products in....4x4x 9.5 inches or so. Yes, I've found some on the web, but I don't want 100 or 1000 of them. I'd be happy with 12 or 6. Any chance of this without paying 100 bucks! NEVER MIND! Goo do source located. Thanks anyway!

Nice ! I saw Schroeder race many times after he moved to Oregon from LA. He was a regular at Woodburn, taking on newer flip top FC's, altereds, dragsters. Pretty much anything as was the style of the times. He was a real racer with nitro in his blood! I waited for nearly 50 years for the parts and decals to build this car. I remember the Bad Bossa Nova, The Bloomin' Bullet, the Hairy Canary, and a bunch of local NW cars duking it out one hot Sunday in 67 ( I think ) at Woodburn. GREAT DAYS!

Why use such harsh cleaners? I use soap and water. Just cleaning off the release agent, By the way, what release agent do you casters use?

Yes these are niche kits, but so what? The days of million selling kits are long gone, I don't see hoe it's possible to NOT make money on this stuff. Hello.....marketing please ? Package them as what they are. People are buying old, OLD aircraft kits. Think there might be a niche for these? OR the Pyro line? OR.......

I would love to see these old kits reissued!

Great job on a very kool subject, All of my first car models were 1/32 nd scale. It would be great to see cars like this in 1/2th! NICE WORK!!!!

Which are you looking for? The dragster / Foster type or the Logghe box/ ladder type? The Late 60's Logghe type is in several ex MPC, like the Cougar. The same essential type is included in all the Polar Lights kits.

The site George Klass Remembers is unreachable, it has been for a while.. Google ( as usual ) provides no answers, I can't find a thing. I know he is near 80 and the site has gone bad before. To lose the thousands of pictures he has would be TERRIBLE. Anybody know anything?

Looks good man! People don't get that Garlits business in this time was chassis building. There were LOTS of cars that used this same chassis and body. Red Lang Ark Malone Marvin Schwartz Off the top of my head! There were DOZENS of them! Do some research.

The engine instructions appear to indicate the turbo "pressure pots" should be glued to the stock air cleaner .That is parts 6 and 7. OR, does it mean directly to the "manifold" on the God Awful bloborific heads / manifold? Seems like it should mean the latter. THANKS!

Nice! I owned a 66 eons ago, your looks great. I see ( I think ) that you fixed the totally wrong magneto location that this kit has always had. The rear of the block is WRONG, looks like you moved it to front (right side) where it should be. Good going.
