Really nice work, I love it!
-
Absolutely, Build for your own pleasure. Theres really no other reason. I do enjoy the forums as it's my only real way of sharing my work and getting feedback. Everyone builds at their own level and there is never a good reason to put someone down if their work isn't as good as your own. Theres ALWAYS someone better.

Model A Frame, '32 Frame? Need Some Help
FORDSVTPARTS replied to FORDSVTPARTS's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
This ended up being as non issue, I went with a Willys Gasser chassis as there was NO way the motor woudl fit the model A. Heres a link to the finished truck. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11064 -
Real Or Model #32 Finished!
FORDSVTPARTS replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Exactly what I noticed, I vote model. -
Are those th etires and wheels that came with the kit? They actually appear to be proportionate, unlike the Auburn speedster tires and wheels. I might pick up the Cord kit just for those if they are the ones in the kit.

You have my condolences
-
I did say COAT pocket, Geez, You Iowanians are an odd bunch
-
Thanks, I haven't forgotten your wheels btw. I have them in my coat pocket.

I'd just have to say it's a Hot Rod I guess. It is a Willys pickup cab, Willys Gasser chassis Shortened rear frame dropped front suspension '29 Ford pickup bed, shortened grille shell is from the horrible Lindberg Auburn Speedster The engine started out as the Auburn flathead straight 8 but it was so ugly I couldn't use it The only parts left are the block, The middle 1/3 of the head and the oil pan that had to be cut from the one piece Auburn frame. The cam covers are fabbed from parts tree plastic, The cam drives are from an odd scale Offy sprint car as are the headers, The lower fron cover is from the M/T four engine Pontiac LSR car, parts bin blower, carbs from the '53 Vette, parts bin pulleys with fabbed bracket and the blower drive shaft is a Corvette IRS half shaft. The engine was originally meant to go into the '29 pickup but once I got going and had the idea for the blower it wouldn't fit in between the "A" rails so I broke out the part bin and went nuts. Thanks for the kind words guys!

Hmmm, What is that thing, How many cylinders? What the heck IS that thing? I don't think it's really a Ford. What is that by the front door? WTF!! A shaft driven blower on a twin cam straight eight!! Last pic, Anyone want to guess at some of the components? I have a few minor details to finish off but my access to a decent cam is limited to borrowing one. Thanks for looking, comments are welcome.

Nice work, I've got to tell you the title struck me funny though. One of my kids favorite books right now is about "Wodney Wat" The rat that can't pronounce his "R's".

Fantastic aging, The rust looks awesome.

I love it, I really need to find a "T" kit one of these days.

Beautiful work, I've always loved the WRC series and McRaes passing was a sad event indeed.

My Ultra sleeper, And a not so subtle Stude,

Model A Frame, '32 Frame? Need Some Help
FORDSVTPARTS replied to FORDSVTPARTS's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I think I may just have to rework my suspension plans to get it right, I don't want the engine high enough to tip the car over in a turn but it won't sit down in the rails. I think maybe a front suicide mount is in order and I may attempt my first "Z" job on the rear. So far I've been doing nothing but the engine for this one so the car is built around it. -
So I'm working on a '29 Model A pickup and my secret engine project won't fit between the frame rails. Is a Deuce frame wider? Is there any frame of that general era that would work? I was considering going to a '34 Ford, I just don't know if it's the same as the '32. Help please?

That looks great, Nothing beats a Gasser.

No kidding, Over the years I owned 2 '63 Rivs, 1 '68 and 3 '69's. The best was a black '69 with a cammed 430, built th400 and 3.42 posi with L60-15's out back. That car would hook off the line but when you hit 2nd at WOT it would light the tires and start sliding sideways for about 40 feet, Two 16 inch wide stripes of rubber was pretty impressive in a car that size. I still miss that car.

First the '65 Riviera, This is the oldest build in my case at about 16-17 years old. It's the Barris '65 body with an old prostreet T-bird chassis (same chassis used for the '69 Riv). Running an injected Nailhead from the Ivo four engine dragster. The '69 Riviera which in my opinion may be the nastiest looking car I've ever seen, This thing is just plain mean. The 430 big block came with the kit and the blower is from the "Heavy Chevy" Chevelle kit.

This build is about 15 years old and started as the "Double whammy" kit. The Hemi is from the kit but with only one blower (obviously) and the chassis is from an old prostreet Thunderbird.

Thats the car that inspired this build, I thought it would be fun to make it more of a sleeper though. I'm still tempted to build another one more like that.
