  1. Yeah more like 4 coats cuz it was pulling away from the edges Thanks for the words guys
  2. Don't give me any ideas....I have one in the stash
  3. Finished this up last weekend. I'm a bit of a 750 Honda nut, so when I realized that this kit would fit the criteria for our club diorama this year, I jumped at the chance to build it. It's built out of the box and I sprayed some fingernail polish, layed my decals, and followed that with Tamiya clear through the airbrush. My quickest build since I was a kid, finished in about 3 weeks. That's about it. Thanks for dropping by.
  4. It is one great kit, and you got it for a good price. I don't remember running into any problems while building it, but Bill is right about the fragile chrome, I think Alclad might be a bit more durable. I don't think you will get the gap between the hood and grille if you use the kit grille either. I built mine as a replica of my Dad's 66 and used the MCG photoetch set. I liked it so much that I bought 2 more kits and another detail set for myself. Have a nice build:)
  5. I finished this up a couple of years ago but I can't remember if I posted it here before, if so, please accept my sincerest apology. I started with an AMT Annual kit glue bomb. The body cleaned up real nice, so I used it and the kit "glass" and chassis, everything else is from Modelhaus including the interior tub. I had some Nocturne Blue lacquer mixed up for the body and used a combination of Dupli-color blues for the interior. This is where I started Here's where I ended up. I really like detailing these Pontiac interiors Thanks for looking
  6. Me too. I would love to see that going round the track. Nice work.
  7. Nice work. Looks great in black and silver.
  8. Thanks guys. Here's a link to my unorganized build album showing what I started with. Other than the A-pillar and some glue marks in the seats it cleaned up real nice. http://s202.photobucket.com/albums/aa33/burninrob6/62%20Pontiac%20Bonneville/?start=all
  9. Haven't posted here in a year or so. I was posting some progress on this when I disappeared, here's the finished product. AMT 62 annual glue bomb kit with Modelhaus wheels, tires, bumpers, grilles and drivers A-pillar from their convt windshield frame. Factory colors were used on the body and I took liberties on the interior colors. More builds to come as time permits. A link to the progress thread On the workbench topic from 09
  10. Haven't posted much here in more than a year, but I do plan to start posting again so I'll reintroduce myself here. That's me, the little one in the middle rear, spring of '74. In a parade in eastern Iowa with my Dad and friends on the trike that they built(note snow tires) Me and my daughter a few years ago after getting the bike out of storage for the season....Do they make Blizzaks for bikes? Now you should be able to recognize me anywhere, I'll be posting builds soon.
  11. Killer AMX Bruno.
  12. I saw that one there in person and you did a nice job on it, and I bet you had fun building it. Not dumb....just a bit goofy
  13. Thanks for the very good words Nick. Being a member of WAM is the best thing to happen to my modeling. I feel very lucky to be a member, and I am glad they were persistant and drug me into their circle. And you are right, we do work pretty well together. Thanks again.
  14. Wow!! I don't get here very often anymore and didn't expect to see this one pop up again. Glad you guys like it. If you wanna see more of this one and our other club diorama's go to my Photobucket link, scroll down to the WAM folders and check them out. This years dio is in the Milwaukee NNL 18 folder towards the bottom of the list. I haven't had time to organize them into the Shiners Rods folder yet. http://s202.photobucket.com/albums/aa33/burninrob6/ BTW Kyle, we are out of the Fox Valley area. We are also hosting a contest at the Oshkosh Hobbytown on, I believe, May 8th. I should have a flier by tonight and will try to post it this weekend Thanks for lookin' and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
  15. and some more a few old builds and it IS.... all about the engine Hope I didn't over do it....thanks for lookin'
  16. Some more.... pushin it a bit..... some modified muscle....
  17. Gotta be my favorite subject.....you asked for it,here's a bunch of mine
  18. Hey Bill, I see your (incredible) stalled frame and picture a barn find project (THE Z-16 Chevelle convt. comes to mind) with a nearly gone fabric top, tattered interior, faded paint, dents.....the works. Then you could see that beautiful framework operate and not worry too much about the fabric.................. though it would be strange to see one of your projects that wasn't spotless.
  19. Bumpers,Grille, Taillights and interior patterns would probably be the toughest parts.....front fenders are the same but need to add fillerpanels at forward edge on outer sides of headlights, rear 1/4 windows would have to be re-shaped, and vent windows removed but IIRC that's about it. This is a project I plan to do in the future, a resin version would sure simplify things. This is the parts car in my garage getting stripped and then junked. I can't remember if it's a 73 OR 74 but it's a donor for my 71 2door project. The grille and bumper don't look easy to reproduce in scale.
  20. Already made up your mind.....I'll post mine anyway BTW Raul the Raptor Hauler is really sweet, love the green on there.
  21. I did these a couple years ago... put them in an old rim that accepts a steel axle, probably old AMT, chucked them in a drill and spun them, one at a a time of course, then took a fine brush and thinned Tamiya flat or semigloss white, I don't recall which, and touched it to the spinning tire. Took a few tries but turned out nice
  22. Here ya go Harold. I posted this on another board but I didn't take any progress pics of the dash.....hope it helps Ok, first I sprayed the light blue over the whole dash, taped off the dashpad with Tamiya tape and sprayed the dark blue from a distance to give a little texture. Untaped, then brushed in Testers flat black on the gauges, and brown for the woodgrain, tedious foiling follows I made relief cuts over the radio knobs so the foil would slip over, the foiling took a few tries to get right. After it was all finally burnished into place I cut the foil out over gauges but left it in the area with Bonneville script. Dry brushed the numbers and dashes on the gauges testers white and added orange for the needles, then gave them a tamiya black wash to clean them up a little. I then painted the black over the script, touched up area's where the foil split with tester chrome silver and then brushed dullcote over the foil in area's to simulate brushed metal, then painted the knobs chrome silver. Then I took a tooth pick and ran it over the chrome area's and Bonneville script to clean and shine them up a little. Then a few coats of Tamiya clear were flowed into the gauges and script to give them some shine. I think that about covers it, if I missed anything, feel free to question.
  23. Got the dash finished over the weekend, steering wheel and column from AMT 62 Catallina 421 SD, shift lever/turn signal stalk from wire, sitting in unfinished interior in 1st pic.....rest of the interior is done, sans flocking, but I haven't taken any pics of that yet. Thanks for looking
  24. Not much time at my bench recently, and gone from here for a while so I thought it was about time I post my current builds. First up is an AMT annual 62 Bonneville rebuild. Here's where I started..... Cut the A-pillar and replaced with one cut from a Modelhaus resin convt. windshield frame painted the interior with factory code Seafoam Aqua to match the body then taped off and sprayed the white accents.... Taped up to spray the dark blue.... Here's where she's at now....everything sprayed and awaiting Polishing, BMF and detail painting..... And my other project... American LaFrance pumper that I am converting into a hauler...I have started on the rollback structure and plan to widen the rear half of the cab if time permits......... it's part of a club challenge and will haul a custom Cord being built by another member if, I mean, when they get finished. If anyone has a good idea to name the hauler, please speak up. Thanks for stoppin'
