Rodder's Journal
mazlak replied to Duntov's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
Amen to that Duntov! One of the few mags I subscribe to. Always shipped in a heavy gauge cardboard sleeve. Only regret is that it is only available quarterly. Greatest mag in the world! Well... maybe second best. Sorry Gregg. Yours is superior!! Rick in Richmond -

Mr Civic, It's a little ways up the road, but our club, RAMS, meets in west Chesterfield County (Midlothian) twice a month. The 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. We always have a pretty good time. We meet at the Martin's Store in the village of Midlothian at 6:00pm, and hang out till everyone is ready to roll. Like I said it's a bit of a drive but we do have FUN. Rick in Richmond

The Roanoke Valley guys throw a couple of good shows each year also. Both are in the Civic Center. One is IPMS style and the other is conjunction with the MDA CAR SHOW. I usually vend at both, they are great shows put on by a great group of guys. Rick in Richmond

Best Way to Disassemble a Glue Bomb?
mazlak replied to impcon's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Impcon, I spritz the model with a misting water bottle before putting it into a plastic 1 gallon freezer bag. Toss it into the freezer overnight. The water gets into some of the joints and helps to force them apart as it freezes. I generally have a nice bag of fairly loose parts the next day. True 60's, whole tube of glue used builds, won't always come apart though. They require some surgery.LOL. Hope this helps. Rick in Richmond -

Love the build!!! Where did those tires both front and rear come from? They are great. Rick in Richmond

Yeah Ed, That's my ugly mug. I didn't realize George had gotten in that close with his camera. We are liable to scare off potential new victims err I mean new members. Actually I hope that no one looks that close at any of us, we are a motley looking crew. Glue crew that is. Good looking kids though, I wonder who they belong to? Must have a pretty Mama. James (Kitbash) your projects prompted me to start a new rod myself. I found those dirt track tires if you still want to use them. Rick in Richmond

George, You are the MAN. Pics up just minutes after the meeting. Whew! As always they are great. You made my 'Vair look sooo goood. You somehow hid the crappy paint.LOL I hope to have the pair finished by next meeting. It seemed like everyone was digging the idea of 2 meetings now per month. Ed's gas pumps are incredible. looked like mini dios on the table. James's stuff looked promising. his '53 ford pick-up is going to be awesome. Thanks again for the pics. Rick in Richmond

Hey Pat, Thanks for the pics. The picture of the speed boat has a company name at the top of the frame, but can't quite make it out. Are those parts available in resin? I recall seeing some in progress shots of the seats and outboard drive. Is there a way to get these parts? I'm drooling for them. LOL Thanks Rick in Richmond

Hey George, Thanks for posting pics from the meeting. Your snap of my AquaRod sure makes it look better than it does in person. I had fun building it for April Fools! The aluminum sided woody will have to wait a while to get finished. Maybe I'll have it ready for next April 1st. HAH Bob's cuda looked good too. Definite change of pace for him. Ed's Falcon Courier was sweet as well. I have a Flintstone resin of that one to get built someday. Anyway, Thanks for throwing the pics up. Rick in Richmond

Just a reminder that the next RAMS meeting is on April 1st. APRIL FOOLS DAY ! Bring your most rediculous, foolish, funny, or off beat build or work in progress to share. This should prove to be a lot of fun. Hope to see all the regulars and some of the new folks we met at the Richmond IPMS ODO on Feb. 27th. We meet at the gazebo in Sycamore Square Shopping Center in front of the Ukrops/Martins store, time 6:30pm. Rick in Richmond
