Oh man, that's all I need to see is another cool one! Now I want one like that too!!!! LOL No problem on the reply Marc, I was just curious if it made it to you. I did some research and found that Keith Marks is still selling those decals. Thanks for the tip on those!

Wow, your Cobra really looks sharp!!!!!!!! I am currently bouncing back and forth between black with gold stripes and white with blue, like yours! I'm going to try and find another Cobra II kit and do both! LOL I've never bought from Mustang Mike but remember him having a lot of stuff to convert the Mustang kits. I didn't realize they were just copied kit pieces. I was looking at Keith Marks decal site and he shows the King Cobra decal sets in two color schemes. It also shows a picture of the McLaren Mustang kit and states to use the front air dam from that kit and, like you said, the little fender spats from a 78 Trans Am kit. I was thinking Mustang Mike would have those pieces and i'd avoid having to rob them from kits?

Sounds like good news to me! -
Great, thanks guys! So could an accurate King Cobra be built using aftermarket parts and the King Cobra kit? I think Mustang Mike made the conversion parts? I'm still hoping to get ahold of him. Hey MpcMarc, did you get my reply to the email you sent me? I sent you some pics of the Monroe Handler i'm working on. I replied to you email which I think came from here so I didn't know if you'd get it or not?

I just won a couple auctions for two sealed original MPC Mustang II kits. The first is the Cobra II with "The Snake is back!" on the box and the second is the King Cobra kit. I am just curious (it will be a while before I get them in hand) do these two kits share the same basic kit with different add on parts?
-
Nice job! I bought all four of those kits when they first came out back in the eighties. Back then they were really detailed compared to the previous Monogram 1/32 Snap Tite funnies like the Whiplash Camaro and several others.

Where is the best source for photo etch/epoxy lights?
Ben replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Man, that black Cobra is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your right, those MV lenses really make a huge difference. You have to see these other ones that i'm talking about. With the lines etched onto the backing, they REALLY look like real glass headlights!!!! -

The MV Products lights are very close to what i'm refering too but with the type sold by Modell Trucks and Parts, you get a whole fret of lights for the price of two of those MV lights. Also, if you look closely, on the Modell Truck type lights, the photo etch backing has the facets etched into it to give the lens a more realistic appearance. From what I could see on the MV lights, the photo etch backing is smooth? -

Here is a place that carries them but they are in Germany. I was hoping to find them here in the US. If anyone wants to see what they look like, scroll down to "photo etch lights". They are very realistic looking!!!!!! http://modelltrucksandparts.at/shop/ -
Great! Thanks Chris! Now to hit the toy stores to find some!

Cool, thanks for the replies, guys! Now, my next question, does the Silly Putty leave any residue or oil that must be cleaned before painting the area where it was stuck too?
-
I have been reading these articles on masking with Silly Putty but I have yet to read what is done with the putty after paint has been sprayed on it? Do you throw that piece out and buy more or can it be reused over and over?
-
Looks like a great start Mike! I think the baby blue looks good!
-
That's nice! Is it based off a promo?
-
Wow, that is really nice!!!!!!!!!

New Automotive Styling Trend?

Hey Eric, I guess if someone wanted to build a daycab 4070 bad enough they could use a titan kit but i'm thinking if they wanted to build one that bad, they could just buy the 4070B kit on Ebay. They're still on there all the time. This is just my opion, I could be wrong, it just seems like it be that way?
-
Hey Eric, I don't think they would sell very well. Most builders would rather cut the cab they already have (being that they need the whole 4070 kit anyway) than pay additional money for another cab. I'm not sure you would recoupe your time and cost of supplies in this venture. If I were you, I would be searching for things that have not ever been offered in resin as that type of stuff usually sells well.

Do you mean the grill mesh? Are you looking for some photo etch to replicate the grill screen? If you can describe the hole shape or post a picture, I may be able to tell you were to get the right stuff.
-
Hey Steve, thanks for those pics!!!! That does appear to be a Ford 9" in that BB II kit as well! The rear cover is actually more detailed than the one in the Revell 32 Ford kits! I might combine the two. The BBII kits are pretty cheap on Ebay so I think i'll go grab one. I really appreciate the help!
-
LOL, hey George, great minds think alike! I have the Revell 32 coupe right here and your correct, the 9" is really nice!!!! It's a bit narrow for this Mustang but i'll be using it if nothing beter comes along. Thanks!
-
Oooooh, that RnD one looks NICE!!!! Too bad they're not selling anymore! I'll keep an eye out for one that someone might have though! Thanks!
-
Hey Steve, thanks!!!! Do you know what rear axle that kit has? I am in need of a good, detailed Ford 9" rear end as well.

Does anyone know of a kit or a resin source that has a nice Mustang II front suspension setup? I am building the old Revell 78 Mustang II, Monroe Handler and the chassis is really plain with hardly any detail. I am also wondering if the running gear from the AMT 77 Mustang II that is currently out there, will work with this kit? Does anyone have any pics of the AMT kit suspension pieces by chance? Thanks!
