Tell me about your spray booth please...
Ben replied to Yekoms's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Whatever you do, make sure to use an explosion proof motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Using an oven vent hood motor that is not explosion proof can have very bad results!!!! Vaporized paint is VERY flammable and the windings of a regular motor will ignite the fumes causing a huge fireball!! -
Beautiful job!!!!!! Just out of curiosity, why didn't you go with the Drag Lites like in the picture?
-
Oooh, so close!!! The only problem with that Mercedes set is that there's no letter "N" and no lower case letters. Thanks for that link though!!!! Lots of other cool stuff on there!

Great! I look into it, thanks Dan!!!!!! -
I am needing some 3D very tiny letters, approx 3 or 3.5 MM tall in standard block type font. Has anyone everr seen something like this in photo etch, thick self adhesive or other form?

I do have two of the Boss 302 kits. I thought I had the Mach 1 but checked and it was the Boss kits I was thinking of. I thought that newer Revell Mach one kit might share a lot of the same parts as the Boss kit but wasn't sure. -

Hey Dan, i'm building the Revell 1978 Monroe Handler Mustang II kit. I'm just trying to add a bunch of detail and make it correct to the real car. I have been told it came with a 302, a Borg Warner 4 speed and an 8" rear end. I was hoing to find one Ford kit that has these items in it. I -
I am searching for a good kit to rob parts from and I was wondering what transmission and rear end come in the Revell, 2 in 1 Mustang Mach 1 kit? I know it comes with a 351 and a 302 (which I need) so i'm hoping it has the trans and rear end i'm looking for as well.

LOL, I thought I was the only one! I have five cats, er....kids! They love to jump up on the desk while i'm building! Cats hate it when you pay attention to anything but them! I have a rotating Plastruct rack in the main model room and when I open the door, my only male, Smokey, grabs the plastic strips and takes off! I wouldn't trade em for the world though!!!!!

LOL, YEP! I can tell the difference now though!

This is exactly the type of info I was hoping for. I admit, i'm a Chevy guy, all my real vehicles are Chevy but I love building models of Fords! Weird huh! LOL I wonder if Scale Modeling By Chris makes a 302 kit? I checked his site but didn't see one? I really like using the aftermarket engines like his and Ross Gibsons! The more detail, the better!!!!!
-
Ahhhh, I see! I have that Mach 1 kit as well, i'll pop it open and check things out. I was just hoping to use the SMBC 351 because it's so detailed (and it cost me 30.00!, LOL) I guess i'll use it on something else. Thanks for the info guys!

I'm not too familiar with all the Ford engines and i'm wondering, would a 351 Cleveland look the same externally as a 302? I bought a 351 Cleveland resin kit from SMBC and it's really nice! But I found out that the Mustang I am wanting to put it in, came with a 302, not a 351.

My Yellow Monroe Handler comes with those chrome four lug Centerlines as well but I wanted the real aluminum look so I had these made. (see pic) I machined the center caps and had RB Motion make some lug nuts to my specs. There's more pics in my Fotki albums. www.public.fotki.com/lotso http://images47.fotki.com/v1588/photos/3/1602553/8667284/3-vi.jpg

Cool! Thanks Mark!

Oh great! NOW you tell me! LOL I would like to make mine as realistic as possible. I sure hope they had the four lug wheels at least! I just had my little Centerlines machined and drilled to accept four lugs.

On your dinner plate???? What goes well with that, red wine or white? LOL, sorry, couldn't resist! Looks like a really cool kit! Show some pics of what's inside when you tear into it! -
Hello John, first let me say that I am in no way upset with this situation, in fact I think it makes this kit unique. I plan to buy two full sets, one to collect and one to build plus one full set of the upcoming colored body version! I do however understand that you need to rectify the situation. I have a very hard time loading pictures on here so if they all do not show up in this post, please take a look at my Fotki site where I have created a folder with the pics as well. www.public.fotki.com/lotso A huge thanks for bringing back these great little kits!!! You guys are doing a great job!!!!! Thanks John! http://images110.fotki.com/v559/photos/3/1602553/8665073/MVC013F-vi.jpg

Please guys, let's make this a rule!!!

I belong to a couple other groups and I send pictures to them all the time but on here, there's so many steps I have to take just to get a picture to post, i've given up! On every other group I belong to, I can simply send the picture as an attachment in an email to the group. I spent three hours a while back on here trying to get pictures from my Fotki account to show here. I can't even remember all the steps I had to take so I just quit posting pics here. -
If your wanting the spoke type wheels that are on the red Jeep in your picture, the Monogram Ford f-250 has some that are identical to them.

I just bought the whole set of the reissued Zingers kits and noticed that my Super Semi box has the Super Drag bottom? Being that the bar code is on the bottom of the box, i'm puzzled as to what's inside??? Did a Super Semi box top get put on a Super drag kit or did a Super Semi kit get put into a Super Drag bottom box? It's kind of unique so I thought i'd leave it sealed. I plan on getting more and i'll build those but i'm curious as to what's in this box! Anyone else had this happen?
-
Hey Mark, after looking at the red one posted here, your right, it would be best to just scratch build everything to get the right look. I may even send it out to be cast after the body work is done. I'll check on that Cobra Missing Link has. Thanks for the info!

Hey Brandon. You have the later release of the Monroe Handler kit that Revell reissued back in the eighties. I'm building yellow, first version just like the box art. Your correct, the whole chassis and engine are pretty bad in those kits! I bought a Beatnik Bandit II kit to use the whole front suspension and rear axle from, and a resin 351 Cleveland street rod version motor from Scale Modeling By Chris to stuff under the hood. I also had Jim Littekin CNC machine me some Centerline wheels to fit the tires i'm using with it. It should be pretty cool when finished!
