  1. I like to use Easy Off oven cleaner to strip chrome from plastic but was curious if it would harm resin? Any help would be appreciated!
  2. I mastered an Eagle Brougham stand up, big bunk sleeper for the 4300. A resin copy can be bought through Jamie Rahmoeller at jlrahmo@aol.com. The sleeper is a twelve piece kit. The Eagle Brougham decals were available through ModelTruckin.com but i'm not sure if they still are? You can see my sleeper master as it's being built on my Fotki page under "Eagle Brougham models". www.public.fotki.com/lotso
  3. Hey Johnny, very sorry to hear that! I will keep you both in my prayers for sure!!!! Hang in there and try to remain positive buddy!
  4. Cool!! I like the "Reeterbilt"! LOL
  5. Very cool!!!! I like that paint job! My all time favorite cabover!!!! That's the kit I sent over to Howard at KFS to help in designing the 1/24 CL9000 resin kit he sells.
  6. Wow, I bet that is a pretty rare kit!!!! I've never seen that version!!!
  7. You could carve and sand a small block of balsa wood to where it fits the windshield opening from the inside and then ask on the list here if someone has a Mattel Vacuum forming machine and if so, can they make a windshield for you. Get a couple made and i'll buy one too!
  8. I'll be using regular paper to make a template that fits the opening perfectly and then transfer the template to clear acetate. Tape the acetate in place inside the cab and then using a gel type super glue and kicker, place tiny dabs around the perimeter to keep it in place.
  9. Awesome job Eric!!!!!!!! We need to make that day cab now!
  10. That's the best 379 conversion kit that has ever been offered. Clint Freeman used to cast and sell it. Might have to get a couple more!
  11. I guess he realized they didn't know how to cast in clear resin properly. This Coronado doesn't have any "glass" either.
  12. Do like I do, don't eat for days at a time, shower after using the bathroom to save on toilet paper wash you body and teeth with bar soap, but only once a week to save water. Just use lots of cologne the rest of the week! See, thrifty!
  13. I have that T2000 kit from DeElegance. I was one of the first people to purchase one. I was pretty disappointed with the quality for how much the kit cost! My kit has air bubbles in the center of the clear windows! I'd like to know how i'm expected to fix that!? However, I recently purchased a scratch built Double Eagle type sleeper that was built by Les here on the forum. I already had an exact copy of it so I know how nice it really was. I ended up winning the sleeper for about 130.00 which is actually a little less than I paid for my first one. I got the sleeper in two days and noticed a couple minor pieces were missing. No big deal at all as I can copy them from my first kit. I emailed the seller and mentioned the parts were missing and said if he happens to find them, please send them to me. I was happy with my purchase! He tells me how sorry he was and that he wants his customers to be happy (I told him it was ok, I was happy) and he sent me a brand new DeElegance Freightliner Coronado kit.......for free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was blown away!!!!!!
  14. Even at 60.00 or more, I think that's a fair price for an all new modern truck kit! I'll be buying at least four for sure!
  15. Very cool!!!!!! My all time favorite funny cars!
  16. LOL, you'll fit right in here with some of us!!!! LOL I have the same kit that I started probably around the same time frame as yours and it's about as finished as yours! LOL I can't even tell you how many i've "started" since then!
  17. I have made several types of wheels in 1/24 that fit the Italeri/Revell tires specifically. To include two holes, five holes and ten holes. I also mastered Stemco trailer type oiler hubs that can be used with any of them. You can view the different wheels on my Fotki page. www.public.fotki.com/lotso I only make the masters. Jamie Rahmoeller casts and sells them. He can be reached at jlrahmo@aol.com He had a set on Ebay last night but they are gone now. They sell quick! His Ebay ID is MACK3241
  18. Does any aftermarket company offer decals that represent, in 1/25 or 1/24 scale, surface details such as granite or marble counter tops, linoleum flooring and wood flooring?
  19. I try to assemble as much as possible if the parts are to be the same color as well unless the sub assembly ends up having a lot of areas that will be hard to get paint onto. A semi truck chassis for instance. Once assembled, it's hard to get the spray into the corners and such without excessive build up of paint. In this situation, i'll assemble as much as possible while keeping all areas accessible and then scrape the paint from any ajoining areas to complete the assembly.
  20. Thanks guys, I know the tutorial very well but I have a LOT of little parts to mount......oh and i'm lazy too! I guess I could make one rack and send it along with additional parts. That way they could see where I would like the attachment points to be.
  21. Has anyone here sent parts to ChromeTech and had them mount them to plate them? I am worried that they might mount them to where the chrome won't be applied in a visible area once the parts ae mounted. Just curious as to experiences others may have had?
  22. Just wondering how the Lonestar project is going? Any new pics would be awesome!
  23. I take all the parts that are to be painted the same color (not body parts) clean all the mold lines and flash and then take a big piece of cardboard, place a piece of masking tape (sticky side up) across the cardboard and then lightly place each part onto the masking tape. I then spray the first side really well and let everything dry. I then remove the parts, remove the tape, place a new piece of tape. Place the parts on the tape unpainted side up, and spray the final coats.
  24. Cool! I like that paint job!!!
