  1. Hi Wayne, thanks! To replicate the door panels used on the movie truck(s) I cut the diamond tuck upholstery out of the panels and put Evergreen ribbed panel in thier place. I then just painted them with semi gloss black paint. I used gloss, semi gloss and flat black on the interior pieces to break things up.
  2. Thanks! I have bought those filter decals from a few different people. Those in particular are from Dougs Scale Truck Replicas out of Canada. I also have some from Kurt who is a member here and he sells them through the Sourkraut Model Truck web site. They are very nice and he makes all kinds of useful detailing decals for engines, chassis filters, etc.
  3. There was a company in Germany that produced a very nice resin transkit to be used with the 84 GMC pickup kit to build an accurate "Fall Guy" pickup. It came with a long bed, better decals (all of them), a new roll bar, a bench seat, the second fuel tank and photo etch for the side trim strips, the side emblems and the "box" that goes across the front of the bed that was used as a hiding place for Colt? I have one here, bought it last year. I'm not sure if they are still selling it though? They sold the decals by themselves as well for people that wanted to scratch build the bed. They may still have the decals for sale? This is that same company that made that super nice "Eleanor" Mustang trans kit. I'm pretty sure the company is called Scale Productions. The kit part# is SPTK24039
  4. That's not very funny!? LOL Pretty awesome work!
  5. Hey Ryan, it's really lookin great!!! The weathering is awesome!!! I sent you an email yesterday to that mustang (somethin, somethin) address. Did it make it to you?
  6. Thanks for the kind words guys! I'll let everyone know as I add pics to my album.
  7. Hello all, I thought I would post a link (can't get the hang of putting pics on here) of my most current project. I got a wild hair to build a Smokey and the Bandit Kenworth after seeing some really nice 1/25 and 1:1 replicas that were recently built. I started out with plans to build a very mildly detailed version but as I went along, the little gremlins inside me kept saying "no, don't just do that, add this and this!" LOL The primary kit is the AMT Watkins Kenworth W925 with the torsion bar suspension and the second main kit that was bashed together is a Revell Gemany Kenworth W900 dump truck. The chassis is from the AMT KW, the cab is from the Revell KW with the rear wall and air cleaner pass thru's grafted on from the AMT cab, the roof of the AMT cab was used to make the new headliner. The hood and the top, rear, front and bottom of the sleeper are from the AMT kit and the sides of the sleeper are from the Revell kit. I used brass to make new sleeper steps, mudflap hangers and mudflap hanger brakets on the frame. The fuel tanks were machined out of aluminum, to my specs by Jamie Rahmoeller (he did an outstanding job on them!)They are resting on resin Kenworth style fuel tank mounting brackets that I had scratch built and had Jamie Rahmoeller cast for me. The trailer is getting some modifications to it as well to make it more like the one from the movie. I started this project in late October and wanted to have the tractor finished by now but with the holidays, starting a new job and nasty cold rainey weather, I have not progressed much these past few weeks. Theres also another album of one of my next projects, a Don the Snake Prudhomme Dodge funny car hauler. I'll be doing the Mongoose hauler as well but i'm searching for more reference pics. The last album is the Scona oilfield float trailer that Klaus Clever produced the kit of several years ago. The link to my albums is: http://public.fotki.com/lotso/
  8. Thank you dave, coming from you, that's a heck of a compliment!!!!!! I can't get the hang of posting pics on here but i'll start a new topic with the link. Thanks for the kind words!
  9. Hey Dave, I got your PM and sent you the link to my Fotki site. I figured out how to post it so i'll post it here as well in case it doesn't make it to you. http://public.fotki.com/lotso/
  10. Hey Dave, thanks! I have a whole album with pics. That's the motor that's going in my Smokey and the Bandit Kenworth. I wanted to put a 1693 Cat in it but nobody makes one. I just made the Fotki album and don't know the exact link yet but i'll send you a personal message with my email. If you email me, I can send you the link.
  11. Hey Les, i'll take a look at a newer bottle the next time I go to the hobby shop. I think I had splattering with the tan paint I had mixed up when I painted that Cummins as well. It doesn't do it all the time, just when I first start to pull the trigger back. Once the paint is flowing it sprays fine. I'm using a really cheap regulator that keeps the pressure consistant as long as i'm holding the trigger down but as soon as I let off the pressure rises and I have to spray away from the part i'm painting for a second to bleed off the excess pressure. I might get a can of Propel air and see how it works with that.
  12. Man, I never realized they ran so many different cars! I've never seen that blue rail! The one's I have like that are a red Mongoose and the yellow Snake. Thanks for the pic!
  13. Cool! Thanks for that pic!!!!!!
  14. Ohhhhhhhhh thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that's the first time i've actually seen the real car! Any pics of the Mongoose by chance? Or, are they pretty much the same as far as all the colors on the engine go?
  15. Hey Dick, thanks for those pics! I am actually hoping to see some pics of the actual Snake and Mongoose rails themselves to see what color plug wires were used, the type of rear slicks used, etc. Just tryin to throw a little accuracy at them.
  16. Ok, I just painted a couple wheels using the regulator tip that came with the airbrush and got much better results!!!! They actually look chrome! I'm still getting some spitting from my airbrush but I have a feeling it's my air supply. The air regulator i'm using is a cheapy and I have to bleed off the excess air pressure with the gun before I point it at the part and pull the trigger back for paint to flow. I'm going to look into a better air regulator.
  17. I just noticed something when I reassembled my airbrush. I tried to blow air through it where the hose connects (with my mouth) while pressing the trigger down and nothing came out no matter how hard I tried! I took the crown regulator off and the air flows freely? I put the crown regulator bac in and trid moving the needle further back, made no difference? I then compared the center hole with the regulator that came with the gun and the crown hole is smaller? It appears that this crown regulator is for the small or "fine" set up? I know on the needles there are ribs on the back end that tell if its small medium or large but how do you know on the regulator, head and tip?
  18. Really beautiful work!
  19. Wow! Those are stunning!!!!!!!!!!! What parts have the Alclad on them?
  20. Hello all, I am in search of reference pics of the Snake and Mongoose. (the blue and white rails) Since these kits don't have a lot of detail, the engine would really benefit from some after market goodies! Also, i'm not sure on this but I would think a rail of that vintage would have the narrow slicks on the rear as opposed to the fat ones included in the kit? This is another reason I am needing the reference pics. To sort out those types of things. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
  21. Hey Shane, I was thinking there may be a tiny bit of dried paint in the gun so I disasesembled it and the pieces have been soaking in lacquer thinner since last night. I ran a small piece of wire through all the holes as well to make sure all was clear. I'm going to try it again today when it warms up outside.
  22. I had the painter shoot the clear onto the part because I had read somewhere that some were shooting clear over the black base coat to make it as glossy as possible? I was thinking that the black itself could still be seen so the chrome "effect" would still show through. Does the Alclad actually have to have a surface reaction to the black base coat? The wheels i'm going to try next were stripped, primed and the painted with Tamiya spray black and that's it, no clear of any type.
  23. I just disassembled the gun and all the parts (other than the main body with air valve and the small teflon "o" ring) are soaking in lacquer thinner. Where do you get pipe cleaners small enough to slide through the tiny holes in the gun?
  24. Hey David, I disassemble my gun as far as possible and clean everything with lacquer thinner just like you said. I just bought that medium crown regulator as I had been told that the medium setup was the one that is used the most for overall coverage. I'd have to buy the large setup to try it. The Alclad appears to be the consistancy of milk which is what i've always heard is what your wanting when spraying through an airbrush? I'm going to take another shot at it tomorrow and try all the suggestions you guys have given. I really appreciate the help!
