  1. I was hoping it was going to be a very faint, washed out flat gray that I could mist over the parts after dry brushing them to give them that dirty hazed look.
  2. Well, I just test sprayed some. It's just flat tan spray paint!
  3. I was wondering if anyone here has ever used this paint for weathering and how it turns out when applied?
  4. Does Tamiya have laquer and acrylic? I was just at the hobby store and the paint rack listed the spray cans as being acrylic? I didn't look closely at the cans themselves though?
  5. Hello all, I can't remember what base Tamiya spray is and was wondering if Testors regular spray paint and Tamiya spray paint can be applied over one another? Thank you for your help!
  6. I think the Cat 3208 from any AMT Ford L series kit would be a good choice to put in the C cab. I just wish someone would master a nice turbo setup for it! Also, being that we are discussing the C cab, Harold Weber in Germany as made an unbelieveable photo etch set to be used with that cab!!!!! It featrues two piece, overlay vents that go just behind the doors, the dashboard, all the emblems to make a C800, windshield wipers, foot pedals, a drilling template for placing the "F O R D" letters on the front of the cab and the wing window frames. I have posted several pictures on the Yahoo, Model Truck Discussion Group for those interested.
  7. Hey Mark, I understand what your saying and believe me, i've dealt with many forums over the years where certain people will make posts that have certain words mis-spelled (I thought I had typed that incorrectly! LOL) over and over and it does get very annoying but I just look at it in the same respect as when i'm looking at someone's built model. If I have issues with it, I simply don't say anything as I don't want to offend that person. I actually feel sorry for them as I feel everyone is viewing them as illiterate. I'm one of those "hey, can't we all just get along and be buddies that have a common interest" kind of guy. I just try to steer clear clear of anything negative and give lots of praise to others no matter the situation. If it's something beyond my control and I see there nothing good coming from a situation, I simply hit the back button and let sleeping dogs lie. I just want to be happy and build models!
  8. I think that having a dedicated area for off topic posts is a good idea. A dedicated area for 1:1 vehicle reference would be a good idea as well, the "Truck Models" area has one. I come to this forum to view, ask and learn things model car and model truck related. I just don't understand why there are so many on this forum that seem to thrive on jumping in and making a negative comment on someones spelling, punctuation or the topic of the post! I see things that, to me are not "on topic" and if i'm not interested in reading it, I hit the back button and go look at something else! Why is that so hard for some of these members to do? There are people on here from all walks of life and nobody has the right to judge or critisize them just because something that they type isn't up to their "standards". It's getting to where I am too concerned to post anything for fear of accidently misspelling a word or my punctuation is not perfect or, heaven forbid, my post may be a little off topic! All I can say is some people need to realize that when it all comes down to it, we are all here because of some plastic parts that we put together to replicate things, that's it! Oh, and I just tried to use the spell check and get a message stating that "iespell" is not detected. I clicked "ok" to go to the download page and nothing happened?
  9. I laughed! Then I thought hmm, that's a scary thought! LOL
  10. Hey guys, i've seen the posts regarding the embossing powder and faux fabric spray and i'll try them sometime but I was hoping to use this stuff that I already have on hand. It's been sittin here for years! LOL Thanks for the help!
  11. Wow, that interior looks really nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Bill!
  12. Hello all! I am working on an interior that needs to have black carpet but I only have tan and gray flocking. I was wondering if anyone has ever painted over flocking to change the color? I was thinking of spraying the floor flat black, letting it cure, then spraying some 3M adhesive, sift the flocking on and after it's dry, shoot another coat of flat black over it. Will this work? Thanks for your help!
  13. You can get the ones that Jamie Rahmoeller casts in rubber from Sourkraut Models or you can get some vinyl low pro tires from the Testors 1/28 diecast truck kits. If you would like to see how these look, you can see them mounted on the spoke wheels from the AMT lowboy trailer kit on my Picturetrail site. www.picturetrail.com/lotso Look in the folder titled "wheels I make"
  14. Cool, thanks Simon!
  15. Man, that is super cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If theres other builders building better than that then they must be magicians! That is some really awesome work!
  16. That doesn't sound like an unusual request???? 800 lbs of peanut butter, some rubber gloves and some clown shoes............now THAT'S an unusual request!! LOL What about the Yahoo groups? Theres lots of them annd they usually have photo albums.
  17. Whoops, just went back and saw that it was urethane based.
  18. Really cool stuff!!!!! I'd really like to know more about that automotive type clear kit that states it won't harm decals. What base is it? Laquer, urethane? Do you have any pictures of it already applied to a model?
  19. Are the centers of the wheels photo etch or are they milled aluminum?
  20. Do they have a website? Looks like they have some cool stuff!
  21. Cool, glad to see that they made it to you. Thanks again for the tire!
  22. Hey Don, the tire and my decals showed up on Friday. Did your decals make it to you yet? I sent you an email friday but have not heard back?
  23. Future floor wax is great for using as clear coat and it has many other very helpful uses as well! Search the net for "The Complete Future" and it will tell you everything you need to know.
  24. I'll get them eventually, their fairly new so the prices are high right now. They retail for about 4.97 each but i've been seeing some of them listed on Ebay for 15.00 each! Everyones trying to make a buck! I hit WalMart, Toys R Us and Target today. WalMart and Toys R Us had a couple but not the ones I want. The less popular ones can be had for as low as 1.50 before shipping. The problem with me is when I see something this cool, I have to get the entire set! And, I usually try to buy two or three full sets to store away. I need a sign that says "will work for toys". Take a look at my Picturetail site (if your interested) and you'll see what I mean! www.picturetrail.com/lotso
