  1. Thanks! I've had Horst about two years now. He has alot ot the typical high mileage (201+k) Vanagon ailments: "idle hunting", lifter bleed down, a/c doesn't work and needs paint. Splitties and Bays are too pricey for me. I plan on keeping him for a loooong time. He's in semi-retirement as I use my beater Tempo 90% of the time (gotta have my a/c in my old age) plus it saves on wear and tear. I'm just going to fix him up as needed and enjoy him. Also I don't name my cars but Lois Grace wrote in VW Trends that VW's have personalities and should be named. It took me a year to pick his name out. I'll take some more pics after he's had a bath!
  2. "Horst" 1984 VW Vanagon GL 1.9. D/D 1994 Tempo (I know, gag yuck, it was cheap & runs good!).
  3. 40+ years later, I still haven't done one yet. It's one of my favorite models from then.
  4. Ya'll are making me feel OLD ! If you ever find any old magazines, they are great for ideas and cool to look at too!
  5. quote name='Custom Hearse' date='Jun 29 2008, 11:33 AM' post='101908'] I like that! That is really cool! Hmmmm.... 1967. I was 4 years old!!!! AY YI YI!!!! If you can find more on that build, I'd like to see it! Thanks for posting that!!!!
  6. I thought I was adding this to the end if the "Hearse build off" replies. I'm new at posting to this cool site. I wish I had a scanner to scan the article. It's quite an involved build. I would be surprized if the model was still around. This was pre-Plastruct, the chassis was made out of balsa wood and the interior bucket was a single serving cereal box!
  7. This isn't a hearse, but I thought you might find it interesting. It's pretty involved for a 1967 build.
  8. Here are two of my grails that I've scored.
  9. Be well my friend. Don.
  10. Hi, I have some phone calls and e-mails in. I imagine it will be a bit before I hear anything, but I will let ya'll know when I find anything out.
  11. I just got some bad news. Vince Putt was beaten up pretty badly in Georgia. I don't know any details, but the doctors are going to have to wait for the swelling to go down before they can operate. He has some broken bones in his face. Please keep him in your thoughts.
