How many here build "Multiples " of a model ?
Eshaver replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, for the folks who answered my question concerning multiples , the information is very interesting to say the very least . I see where the future demographics of my building resin masters will be ! Thank you , everyone !!!!!!!! Ed Shaver -
In the time I have been here at M C M forum, I see where several of you are always saying you would actually buy a case of a peticular model. Considering some of the Revell kits are retailing at 25.00 and tax, that means I think that translates to about 300.00 and tax . Considering that most of you arent wholesale vendors and so many are barely making ends meet , how many of you are "Blowing smoke " and how many actually have that kind of disposable income ? I have to agree with Mr. Larkin here . The rims do nothing for such a beautiful car such as this was . The overall exicution of such a rare model is indeed flawless ! Please send me the rims as I do have a good use for them , on my 61 Special wagon that will be part of a service station diorama ......... Ed Shaver

what was your first model
Eshaver replied to Curtis v.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have answered this question a couple of times hre on M C M , but here goes for yet, another go round . It was 1961 and A M T had teamed up with Ford to do a national model contest of sorts . You were to go to a Ford dealer with you're folks if you wern't licenced to drive and pick up a FREE A M T model kit . The deal was , you brought it back and then entered it in a Local contest . Each 1st place winner then advanced to a Regional location and so-on. I received a 1961 Ford Thunderbird convertable . It was one of A M T's first "Annnuals " with an engine . heres a scan of the instruction sheet as I lost the origional model during a hurricane in 1973. Ed Shaver -
Hey folks, not meanin to brag, I've received two offers from a meuseuem in California to do exibits for the comming year , one proposal to do a four part article on building the Revell 1949 Custom Mercury for the magazine and then, I'll be producing some new diorama accessories for a noted member here on the forum. I spent waht I had on my son and my wife ,everyone knew I was n't looking for anything except to see the joy from me seeing their joy upon opening some real thought on suprises for them . yes , I spend all year picking out things here an there for folks too. hey, I got coffee and I got most of the use of my body even though I have severe health issues . Life goes on . "See Ya on the Road folks " Ed Shaver

Merry Chirstmas from snowy Southern Ohio.
Eshaver replied to tktom24's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tom, why are you sending yer snow to central Virginia ? I spent enough years towing everything from weenie cars to Tractor trailers . I hate snow and the ijits who act like fools in snow too! Ed Shaver -
The G scale stuff as in window casings could definetly save me some time in scratch building a lot of items . Ed Shaver

Uh Verlinden, a primarily resin company that does 1-35th items geared to military builders might still handle the brass mesh . I also saw some similar stuff in a Michiaels too. I used to do a vent on an A/C unit Ed Shaver

Eshaver replied to BigBlockLyle's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)

Gee Chuck, ya really know how to make a guy feel real good . Iguess I'll go get depressed now.............. Ed Shaver

Are you a "scale snob?"
Eshaver replied to ian ashton's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I work in 124th and 125th scales as it's easier for me to scale out things for and my eye sight isn't getting any better these days . The bigger scales present a storage problem and the smaller stuff is , well, too small.............. Ed Shaver -
Tony , you are a very prolific diorama builder . Always nice to see the old Gowland and Goland kits ! My father built a Ford Model T back I guess about 1955. I still have it from where it sat for years displayed in a glass case in a antique Grandfather Clock. Ed Shaver

Anyone for accurate diorama pieces 1-24th ?
Eshaver replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Donnie, the Fry "Maye West" is doable although R & D Unique actually did one several years ago. The Wayne "Roman " 290, whew........... in all my years as a pump guy , Ive yet to reallly see good enough photographs in which to do all the scroll work off of . Heres one of my Fry #117's I did a few years back , it's a 10 gallon as a Pan-Am , now AmocoBP: Same model as a 5 gallon next to a Butler #62 in the back ground Ed Shaver -
The expedables pick up
Eshaver replied to cazxr2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes an well, yes............ the truck cab is a 53-5 Ford Truck cab with a very modified 56 Ford Truck grille. The Cab on a 56 had a 1 year only top. Take a 56 Ford truck grille , cut out the bottom add the teeth . Ed Shaver -

Eshaver replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank You to everyone that took a moment to the question I proposed yesterday. I actually have several middle to late 1960's pieces ready to be sent to the gentleman to cast . Hopefully , we will all see some results very soon . Ed Shaver -

Anyone for accurate diorama pieces 1-24th ?
Eshaver replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can agree on the overabundence of "50's " memrobillia. I was thinking of doing some 60's period correct items . Shown here is a picture of Bennett 2000 series pumps made from 1959-1966 Ed Shaver -
As most of you know, my actual interest is in building archectural models , doll houses and meuseuem exibits . In all of my dioramas , I have scratch built all of the accessories to portray ACCURATE items found in service stations of a given era. An up and comming resin caster has agreed to do what I send him after years of trying to find someone . My question to you Dear Model Car magazine forum members is this : What gasoline pumps, battery chargers, soda , cigarette, oil cabinet lifts , etc would be interested in . I need at least a Time frame as in what Year would you're diorama be set in ? What year cars/ trucks would you wish to display ? You can answer here , e-mail , send me hate mail or whatever ! Ed Shaver
