I stumbled upon some cool stuff the other day. A built firebird with some wierd 'gull wing' t-tops and some custom items (told it was maybe a barris custom version. Also bought 2 kits, AMT Che' Riviera and AMT Surf Rod. The surf rod box says build 1 of 4 ways and the Riv is a 3n1 with a screw chassis. Now I gotta find out what these are worth before I decide what I'm gonna do with 'em

I was looking at 2 different big rig kits today and wondered what might be the better one? First is the White Road Boss and the Other is the White Freightliner cabover. Are either of these kits worth the $$ or should I wait for the Diamond RIO kit to hit the shelves? I'm looking for a "low line/ no frills truck from the '60's, '70's or early '80's and is currently on store shelves. Hippie6

Excellent!! I wish I could remember how many of these I built as a kid. Vanbulance and Vandal. I seem to remember building one with cop car decals and Mich. state police blue paint.

What is with ebay?
hippie6 replied to car lover 1996's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have seen the same inflated shipping costs. When I sell on ebay I try to ship for as reasonable as possible, usually $7 or $8. And that will get most models anywhere in the US. It really tourques me to see shipping for $20 when I know its alot less. -
Well I know modelhaus's products and their reputation. I don't think I've ever seen a Hendrix resin piece. I've bought wheels and tires from modelhaus and maybe its time for my first resin body from them. Now the question.... buy now or wait a month for the Toledo show/ NNL's??

hippie6 replied to JHDrew's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Exactly, something drag racing. I'll try to contact the D.A.A.M. club and see if they can do something. If not maybe some of us can figure something out. Bud might be gone but lets remember him for years to come! -

NNL Nationals Toledo..... Who's going?
hippie6 replied to PatRedmond's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm sure you guys have a regular place for breakfast, but you really should try the STAR DINER. There is a couple of 'em around Toledo..( one on Dussell , close to the old rec center and at least 2 more in town) excellent food, good prices and the waitstaff basically wears the same thing that the Hooters girls wear!! Is there gonna be any kind of meet and greet for the people from the board?? Name tags to wear or anything like that?? -
NNL Nationals Toledo..... Who's going?
hippie6 replied to PatRedmond's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll be there too!! Hopefully I'll have a couple of other passengers as well. I'm less than 1 hour away so I almost have to go. See everybody there. Brad aka Hippie6 -
I might have been slightly mis-understood. I have no problem with paying for the NNL entry and the toy show entry. My only wish is this. If I remember correctly. In years past I thought it was $14 for the toy show saturday and $7 on sunday. If I'm going to the toy show on saturday why pay for 2 days?? I'm not close enough nor do I have that much money to go to the toy show for 2 days. I don't have several hundred dollars to spend and the extra money spent getting in hurts the pockets. I just think Mr. Carlisle is taking advantage of the situation. I know he has to pay the rent for the building and insurance. Just my 2 cents worth and I might have it all wrong, its just how I remember it. Brad aka Hippie6

Just wondering if anybody knows how much they are gonna charge this year??? How much for the toy show?? Hopefully I don't have to pay double to get in saturday when I know I'm not gonna go on sunday. Just wondering.

Cash for clunkers question..........
hippie6 replied to roadhawg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I work at a Chrysler dealer and this is what I understand: The engines are to be destroyed by draining the oil and running the engine with a compound to seize-up the engine. The salvage yards have a set number of days (90 days I thought) to sell body panels/ parts. Then whatever remains must be destroyed. The salvage yards "buy" the cars from us. If you get caught re-selling the vehicle to the public its a $20,000 fine, per vehicle. I've never heard that at any time are these vehicles government property. I thought the gov. just supplied the $$$ to make the cars more affordable. We only had 50 vehicles left on or lot at the end of the program. We nornally have more than that just in Ram trucks. We moved a BUNCH of cars. Another local Chrysler dealer sold EVERY car they had. We have several cars in good condition. '92 Lincoln Town Car 40k miles. '02 Windstar. '02 Explorer Sport Trac. And I have seen a early '80's Chevy pick-up that didn't have a scratch on it, 30,000 miles in the salvage yard, ready to get shredded. I agree.. its a great program. NOT!!! Almost none of the 60 plus clunkers sitting on our lot has a radio in it. Very few have any fuel left in it. They all have junk tires. See where I'm going with this??.... What is a foreign automaker?? Ford Crown Vic's are assembled in Canada and considered imports. What about the Honda's assemblied in the factories in the U.S. ??? Just my 2 cents worth -
I wish I could say something nice but.... a while back I purchased one off ebay. The difference between his stuff and holthaus or flintstone is like trying to compare picaso with a 5 year olds finger painting.

'61 Falcon Sedan Delivery
hippie6 replied to Bruce Poage's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I'd find Jimmy Flintstone on the web. I also have one of his Falcon sedan deliveries and it is way cool. And his stuff is only $10 if you find him at a show. I'll see him this weekend at the Detroit toy show. Maybe I could pick one up if you want. PM me. -
Where can I get a set of those decals??? Great looking model.
