List of Who makes what
Ayatollah replied to Ayatollah's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
OK. Thanks for the input, sounds like it may be worthwhile then. I'll have the preliminary list up soon. It will take input and many changes, but it will beat searching 60+websites. I just hate when you remember seeing something somewhere and now that you want to buy it you can't remember which one of 71,000 resin casters had it. Thanks again! -
Probably so. AAM didn't produce the quantity that there would be one on FeeBay every other week.
-
I hope it's not a pirated resin glob, it would be nice to see the original artist/s get their credit for it. I know it happens a lot, and it's the main reason i dont send much out to people in the way of parts or masters.
-
Im seriously considering compiling a huge text list, arranged by year, of the car make and year itself, with who makes it right next to it...... so someone could come here and look it up, by scrolling down through the years. If that happens, I'll start with MY list, post it, let people email me with their corrections and all the stuff I don't know about, or what they know of that was discontinued, then revise it and maybe the mods will "sticky" the list. Let me know if you think it's worthwhile or not. I know it wouldn't be accepted on a certain popular other forum, they would consider it advertising, upsetting, racially motivated or whatever the day's excuse is for deleting 37 threads. Thanks!

Last one I saw on FeeBay went for about $300. The AAM is about the closest out there to being worth that much, I have it and it is a GREAT one, probably better than Modelhaus or anyone else.

I have two 70 AMX's he used to make, and his stuff is great. You get it fairly quickly and his glass looks good too. I had one pinhole in the 72 Ranchero, and it was all the way on the bottom edge of a rocker facing down, you would never see it but I filled it in just because I would know it's there. I'm glad someone finally made one of these, and even happier that it's someone that's GOOD at it!

Motor City Resin

The..... uuh, failed casket tables. Oh, I tried! I believe I used that screw to prop the body up enough to have tyhe engine look like it was in the right place. I would strongly recommend one of these resins, even if you aren't into Fords (I'm not). He includes a chassis but I used the 70 Torino for most of the stuff. The chassis is nice and fits.
-
I have to put the mirrors on, antenna, lower valance and tailpipes and it's..... done!
-
It's usually not a problem to fix this stuff, but to send it out to get chrome-plated and wait for it? I never wanted to build that particular kit, but now that I've seen this, I would not be to happy to add parts that should have been decent (at least better than Joe Blow's Resin) to my already huge holding pattern of chrome plating stuff. Anything but chrome parts would be OK with me, I can build nearly anything but I'm not a chrome plater.
-
The Ranchero stuff didn't need ANY prep (I'm not kidding - NONE), just the really thorough cleaning with DuPont 2330. I may have clear-coated it and sanded it with 2000, but I don't remember. A nice break after scratchbuilding and RnR resins for a year or two. The Ranchero is as close to a plastic kit as I ever get, but having used 3 Monogram Torinos as donor kits on my builds, I have to say it would be a great kit to build right from the box. I'm not doing too many more kits, my arthritis is just too bad now. I hope to finish most of the resin kits I have and that will be it. This may or may not be the engine I use. I had a 429 in my 72 GT but it didn't look anything like this Revell engine. I think the revell engine is supposed to be an SCJ with some not-so-accurate heads.... Lizard: There's something in this picture that's right up your (and mine) alley!

Do you have pics? Please? If you're gonna do a build email me....

The Montego is Oval Track body and hood only, the front bumper is usable for stock but you need to fab the rest. The rear bumper is just a flat slab, and the front end pieces are shallow flat oval track trim. I'm using a widened and lengthened interior, dash (close enough to get by) from the '73 Cougar, chassis from the Monogram '71 Torino. The MCW '71 Montego body and '76 Torino are both from MCW. Both are really good castings and seem to be 1/24 and not 1/25. This actually seems to help the 1/25 scale interior tubs fit into the thick castings. The '76 Torino has stock grille, headlights, bumpers and two-piece taillight panel, but no interior parts. There is no correct dash for the '76 torino, so I'm using one from a '72 Torino promo, again close enough to pass. If one got really energetic, take the Ranchero body, the Torino, and make a '76 Torino squire wagon ..... Yeee-Har! EDIT: HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE Thanks to all of you hard working resin guys who make this stuff available through your hard work, even though you all seem to have real full-time jobs! I couldn't enjoy my retirement years like this without you, Jeff Barnes, Steve Kohler, R and R guy (forget your name, sorry), Chris, Brian Nobles, Narimat Peytuun, Mr. and Mrs. Don Holthaus, Mark Porter, Jimmy Flintstone, and all you others who cast molds of your wonderful work so we can all enjoy your creativity in our own unique way.

I'm on this ford kick now....... I used to wholesale these in the late 60's - mid 70's..... many I haven't seen since. When's the last time you saw a 71 Montego GT, or even an MX? Or a clean Ranchero GT sport? I miss the old ones, which we took for granted back then. My first time putting a heather core in a car was that green 72 Ranchero. Oh GOD what a week that was!

3 Big Ford hogs in progress, this one is the only one in which the chrome is back from the plater : The stripes are driving me nuts, one of the things that made me retire was that my hands are so shaky and the arhtritis pain is so bad! Also: 76 torino, 1971 Montego GT (ref pic in background)

My backup lights are even the correct colour  needs a dust off though.....

One of my favorite body styles, and definitely my favorite rims! Nice mill, too. Thanks for the pics.

Thanks Glen! I'm doing the Flintstone '59 Superior hearse (again) and it's always a fun build. The "Ghostbuster" interior tub had to go away to make this one work though

1960 Ford Pick up
Ayatollah replied to Irvin Arter Jr.'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Is that the Modelhaus one or the old annual? I have both and they do look like different lengths. It looks great, though! Popular bodystyle lately! http://cgi.ebay.com/1960-Ford-F100-pick-up...1QQcmdZViewItem
