I edited the new pics into the first reply..... I had to use '56 wheels/tires and steering wheel for this. This gluebomb was fun to build, it's not perfect but I had a blast! I need to put on license plates and mirrors and I'm done with it.

I wish I had looked in on this a while ago. I have the front stripped and smoothed out. The rear actually looks like it's going to need bigger corrections. The taillight isn't even close, regardless of not being translucent etc. It looks like Paul used the AMC wheels too. The interior pattern looks like it's froma '69, but either way it's wrong ......AND: it's also just a model and I reserve the right not to kill myslef putting this together. It's a welcome addition to the already huge selection. Thanks for the pics and the link! He did indeed earn every cent of what he got for that Chrysler AND THEN SOME! More importantly, I hope Mr. R.P. is feeling better soon and gets some joy out of all that the hobby has to offer once again.

I saw the gold one, I think it got about $800 US? It looked really nice. I'm undecided on whether or not (R+R, not Paul H.) he started with an AAM resin (mastered by Juha), but if so there were some changes. The decklid is going to be the only real challenge, .....other than waiting for the chrome to come back. Gremlin/Hornet rally wheels will be close enough to use for this

This one is going to be a chore :? It's an R and R........ most of you can guess the rest. It beats scratchbuilding the car, but not by that much. As you can see, the wheelcovers were excellent candidates for the trashcan..... they wouldn't be correct for a hurst car anyway. The chrome is marginally a notch above ghastly..... but it still beats scratchbuilding this. I may fix the bumpers and get them redone. By the way, this meant isn't to bash the resin caster. I'm thankful for the selection and have the skill to make his stuff turn out really nice. The man has been struggling with his health and so on. I have his Checker Marathon sitting here and it's actully the cleanest R and R I've seen. There is one tiny pinhole in the whole thing, it's arrow straight and the chrome is all excellent. It's a gamble sometimes, but as they tell you up front: "For the advanced modeler with scratchbuilding experience" Big thanks to Steve K and Ray P. for this excellent starting point!

That's the R and R. I'm doing a bone stocker with that, I may turn the other one I have into a Eureka hearse If you want one of the R and R's, try the resin realm.

I've dug this 55 Caddy series 62 ragtop out of mothballs. I need a fifties Cadillac build to keep things cool around here, besides.. .. with the constant rain golfing or riding my '49 pan isn't gonna happen. It's an R and R I had to use '56 wheels/tires and steering wheel for this. This gluebomb was fun to build, it's not perfect but I had a blast! I need to put on license plates and mirrors and I'm done with it.

1968 Ply Cuda Racing off the bench 09-16-06 update

Really nice job on those wheels. I love the look of the beauty ring, more to scale than the original too. -
When I get to where I have everything on the body done, the engine compartment walls perfect, I may have it done in resin. Unfortunately I am traveling about constantly until October. The reason for considering having the 4-DR volare done in resin is that nobody has sense enough to offer anything to the volare fans and the fact that an AMT 71 duster would offer the donor chassis and a nice engine. Also, once I'm done with the interior tub and body, I can do without those pieces while they go on loan to a resin caster (I won't mention names yet).

Amen on the real estate market in Queens, the car looks great!

Thank you Ghost. I'm home for two days, then right back on the plane...... so I finished most of the engine compartment and glued the major assemblies together. The hubcaps I made are at the plater's, if they arrive while I'm in Cyprus my grandson was told he can put them on and see how they look (send me a pic )
-
I attempted to replicate the old 14 inch hubcap that the barracudas and satellites got from 71-74. This has been done with foil, I'm going to cast my best 3 sets and send them to the chromer. I enjoy this project way too much. If any of you are planning this bodystyle, email me please. --> ten_second_2000_crownvic@yahoo.com.

I screwed up a body
Ayatollah replied to Ayatollah's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Like I said those spots are soft, I can move the soft plastic around like putty. I have never heard of this either, let it be a warning to you all! This also warrants some potentially interesting experimentation...... -
I have an unbuilt Heathenly Hearse body gathering dust, and I do stack bodies when the size is similar. I buzzed the roof off of a resin Flinstone Superior and let it sit on the hearse roof for about two months, I took it off (tried to) to begin my 64 Cadillac superior and it was stuck. BAD! I pulled it loose and everywhere the resin rested against styrene it melted the plastic. Now, a week later the styrene isnt hardening. It's like gum in 6 places! I guess that '66 will be getting a superior roof in the distant future...   Oh well, it will look great on there someday. When I get around to ANOTHER hearse roof graft.... UUUGH! Bet nobody has one of those!

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me or I took my medicine twice..... it looks great! Nice to see a "non-bellybutton" model! Gotta admit, that's original. It looks great too! Off to the desert we go!

Thanks Marc! This is what i want to do. looks kind of easy (only really need to do one  ): They used them on barracudas and satellites, so I need at least 8......maybe when i get back from traveling Ill do these......

I'm using the 71 charger for interior, engine compt. and chassis, smallblock from the AMT 71 Duster, I made the flat hood (forgot to photo it). I'm probably using mag 500's with skinny whitewalls, a source for correct hubcaps is non existent unless I master and cast one. I want to do a base model 73 barracuda, so it may be worth it to do a good hubcap and dupe it in resin. It sure is tempting to do a slant six, but only the very stripped ones got those. I saw more sixes in the 4-doors than these. They all seemed to be 318's. That duster is a good parts kit. Im using the chassis for my 4 door volare and soon there will be nothing left but the body. I should build one of those with a slant-six someday.
