How to: Bare Sheetmetal Exposed!
diymirage replied to James W's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
looking great james or not depening on how you look at it i guess however the coockie crumbles, it looks very realistic and it is definatly a nice break from those showroom finish models we so often build -
looking nice allready

looking good man i think i have seen that paint scheme before here is an idea for your hood (not that i dont like yers but just putting it out there) look at this little drawing i made here in the first picture the hood is closed, in the second its open (duh) the bleu line represents the body of the hinge, you can make this as long as you want but keep in mind that how ever tall the vertical part is (in the first picture) that is how far the hood moves past the front of the car in the picture the two red dots represent the actual pivot points so you basically have two hinges

well, here is my whip 2003 VW passat (not a jetta, a PASSAT) it has the famous 1.8 Turbo in it with a speedtuningUSA flash the turbo peaks at 17 and holds at 16 plenty of power to go scare the little hondas aswell and this is the wifeys car (AKA the winterbeater) its an 2008 dodge charger with only one option....AWD oh, and in the winter i scoot around town on this 1988 yamaha DT50LC

what he said just measure your real lif object and build it in MM instead of inches so lets say your door is 8 foot wide, that is 8 X 12 = 96 inches then you build your diodoor 96 mm long (around 4 inches very roughly)

ive been meaning to use this technic on my dioramas workbench basically put the BMF on, paint it and then scuff the paint of to make the top look scuffed and old -
its a DAF 95 XF superspace cab the kit number is 3807 and its an italeri kit
-
that is all you could think of mentioning ? at any rate that was a failed experiment with plug wires i have actually designated that roll of wire as radiator hosing looking forward to seeing some progress or proof that these kits are actually being build

hey walther welcome aboard some of what you have asked for (turbos/intercoolers) are scratchbuild however, there is an australian company (i think it is called the partsbox) that does sell resin cast turbo kits as for most of the the other stuff (engines and go fast goodies) even thought they are sold seperatly most of those can be obtained by buying and building kits that can be build in several ways and saving the extra parts for instance, revell has a 1969 dodge charger that comes with both the stock 440 magnum and a race 426 hemi in it there is also a modified stocker 1953 ford F100 truck that has the stock flathead engine and a desoto firedome hemi the desoto has 2 different intake setups so when i build that kit i slapped the flathead in the truck (the velocity stacks were optional parts from a mustang kit) then i build the desoto with the fuel injection as a display engine and finally i used the log manifold from the desoto on the 426 hemi cuda so in short keep building those models and the parts will show up eventually if your in more of a hurry do "junkyard" searches on ebay that should be your cheapest bet also, there is the wanted area here on the forum where you can trade of those parts for parts you like better one final suggestion look for a 1970 dodge coronet superbee prostreet kit (the green or yellow car on the box) youll find some awesome goodies in there

as soon as you find the right kit let me know the year and model and ill ad you ok ?

DAF 95 XF SSC
diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
allright this is all the progress ive made so far ive started painting the frame its a real pain because so much of it is molded in fuel tanks, fenders, battery box, bottom half of the engine, you name it i also BMFed the checker like plates that go on the back fo the frame behind the cabin why this part did not come chromed ill never know but i think i did allright i also cut out all the cabin sections and cleaned them up as soon as i get the paint booth cleared out ill aplly some primer and shoot a few coats of mettalic silver i will also paint the read fenders and several parts of the trailer to match as you can see i started putting together the cabin spoiler this is the first DAF ive ever build and im having a hard time getting all the right tints and colours figured out so if anyone has any input that would be apreciated -
that would be cool im hardly ever online but there is always the PM on the forum my main issues are with the bottom of the engine (its a curbside kit) and all the little doohickies and thingamabobbers on the frame id like to try and paint them correct
-
as soon as you remind me what it is you are building again i gues with over 40 entries one was bound to slip through

the wife used to have a peeon that was a junker think the highest miles ive ever had on a car was a 94 mitsubishi mirage it was a peppy lil thing and i had worked the engine over a bit and beat the living tar out of it i went through 2 engines and 3 trannies
-

-
i kinda meant the your skillz in general but i guess the car is coming along too
-
your coming along nicely kiddo
-
nice monte brad your way more focused on what your building then i am with the drawings and all so about that charger do you have a problem with the windows fogging up ? cos i just bought the wifey one of those (08 3.5 AWD) and it does it like crazy its managable with only one person in there but with 3 or more its almost impossible to see like driving an iglo

done... ...and done

there is always room for a few more (if i get my ct together i just might build a coronet superbee for this build as my second entry) there are actually two members already with dual entries so there definatly is room in here just let me know the exact make and model and well ad you guys to the list as for a previous question about it being box stock or not...do what you want this is my entry: a 1971 hemi cuda with modified rear suspension, drag slicks, superbird wing, custom 6 inch tall AARC hood and under that a 426 hemi with a desoto firedome custom log intake with 8 seperate carbs make it asmild or wild as you want as long as the body is a 2 door from the correct era
