  1. Great Job Chas!! I have seen the real car at the last two years of the Colorado GoodGuys shows. I believe the owner lives in Lakewood Colorado. KT
  2. Well, its good to meet you Jon!! I was there as well just yesterday!! I remember when it was located on Dublin and Academy in the 80's. They moved to the Chapel Hills mall in the 90's ish and now they are on Woodmen and Academy. But through it all they have survived!!BTW, there is talk about them moving again when they do the Academy/Woodmen overpass. My only gripe is that they have never catered to us as much as the others(R/C-Planes-Military) when it came to aftermarket stuff( Pre-Wired Distributers,Decals,Photo-etch,etc.). The South HobbyTown has more in the way of accessories due to Chuck Springer who works down there. Also if I need P.E. stuff I do travel downtown to Compleat Games and Hobbies even though it is just a shell of what "Great Games & Hobbies" used to be. As for my actual models I usually get them from my buddy. We go once a month to Denver to a Model/collectible swap meet and we have a table( or 4) up there. Mostly what I get at HobbyTown is stuff like paints and glues,etc.,etc. If you want to know more about the swap meet or the local clubs feel free to drop me a line!!! DATZ280T@MSN.COM Mabe we will see you sometime!!! KT
  3. I hear ya!!! I remember back in the day (80's) when there were at least 5 independent local hobby shops in Colorado Springs. Now there is only one left and they merged with a "Gamer" store. Just last week we were up north and stopped by Don's Hobbies in Greely CO. I was a breath of fresh air to see!!! Unfortunately due to "town expansion" they may have to move to a new location just to survive because the downtown area is dead. I hope they can pull through!!! It is sad to see all the independants go away!!! KT
  4. At least around here they are not worth that much unless you can find an awesome example. The earlier Fieros were plagued with problems mechanical/electrical etc. They say if you want a Fiero to drive than the later Fiero Formula is the one to get. Just when Pontiac worked out most of the bugs they pulled the plug. KT
  5. Just finished up the GoodGuys event here in Colorado and we had no problems. I spent the whole weekend watching the cars like a hawk!! I was thinking...someone said to advertise in the GoodGuys flyers. I think that is a good idea. Mabe get something in the website as well??? You may be able to plead with some of the "Hot Rod" type magazines to run a free ad? I sure do hope that it is recovered. KT
  6. I have had a few people ask about what happened to my Indy Fiero??? Well, it still exists though progress is going much slower than originally expected. I should have some updates soon as I am starting on the interior. The bodywork is finished and is awaiting the color. With the recent GoodGuys show here in Colorado I had to put the Fiero away and get a few older builds back in shape to show at the event. Now that its over, I should have a bit more time to devote to the Indy Fiero project and mabe I will have it done before Christmas!!! LOL KT
  7. Theres nothing better than spare parts Ron!!!
  8. I'm sorry I did not respond to your last request Simon. The dates for the '08 GoodGuys season usually is not announced until 2008ish. I would assume that it should be around the first of June 2008 if the previous dates are any indication. Keep checking with the GoodGuys website. They are the first to know!!! WWW.GOOD-GUYS.COM
  9. Well, the show was quite a sucess despite a smaller turnout this year. We had abot 70 model entrys but only about 13 entrants. The Revell Make-N-Take went great and 200 kids got to build and take home '34 Fords!! The weather actually held up with only a bit of rain on Friday. At least it was cooler this year. Hopefully we can rally some more modelers to participate at next years event!! We shall see!!! KT
  10. I sure do miss the PPIR shows!!! I made it the last 3 years it was there. Now that PPIR is closed they moved it to Loveland CO. Lil John, Don, and Myself have been doing the shows and it is fun!!! Hopefully I can get some decent pics. this year and get them in the Mag!!! We will see!!! KT
  11. The show is next weekend folks!!! Look forward to seeing all of you there!!!! KT
  12. One of the biggest Model shows in Colorado. Come one, come all!!!! Being held at the Larimer County Fairgrounds "The Ranch" in Loveland Colorado from June-1 through June-3 2007. There will also be a model Make-n-Take for the kids on Saturday June-2 Sponsered by Revell/Monogram!! For more info. contact John Lunger @ BROCANE5@COMCAST.NET or visit the GoodGuys website @ www.good-guys.com
  13. I seem to remember a time that Resin Casters had to make the molds slightly bigger to make up for shrinkage during curing. Is this really what has to happen if I wanted to say...cast a grille?? Just curious because I do not hear about people oversizing their molds to allow for shrinkage. Any info. would be great!!!! KT
  14. That's what this forum is for Ray!!! Glad it helped! Let us know how it goes! KT
  15. As a person who has always loved cars from a very early age( I am 34) I started out collecting Hot Wheels and evolved into car models. Dont get me wrong, I did build a few planes back in the day. Cars became quite the obsession and as I grew up cars were a hobby until I was 18 when I went into the automotive field. It has its good points and bad as well just like almost any job. So I guess this is the path I have chosen and it feels natural for a guy who lives, breaths, and eats CARS!!! KT
  16. The only person that I know that has an ALPS printer is Keith Marks. I am not sure if he will do a "special order" or not but you can drop him a line. MOFOBOW@HOTMAIL.COM . I do believe he may know of others that own an ALPS and mabe he can put you on to someone that can help you out. Hopefully this will help!! KT
  17. I agree with Steve in that the old MPC kits are the way to go to build one of the Birds. They are kinda getting a bit rarer than they were just a few short years ago but they are still around. The Revell "82 Firebird" seems to bring a large $$ when they come up for auction. Don't forget to research them as Trans Ams and not Firebirds. MPC as opposed to Revellogram had the right to use the Trans Am name. As far as the Chevy truck, It appears that you can use the current issue AMT "ex-Fall Guy" pickup as your base. I hope this helps !! Good Luck!!!
  18. Hey Zman!!!! Have you made any progress with casting those 5 slot mags??? Just curious!!!! KT
  19. So there I was making coffee this morning and guess what.. ..I was looking at the coffee filter and it hit me!!! I wet the filter and molded it on an engine and sure enough after it dried it did keep its shape and was ready to paint your favorite tarp color. Most tarps today are either blue or silver but there are canvas tarps that are tan, brown, or even green. If you are concerned about bleed through just shoot a little clear on the molded tarp before applying the final color!!! KT
  20. Well, all the body work is complete including removing the right side "intake" scoop that was never on the 1:1. There were a few small sink holes close to the nose and on the roof but they were easy to fill. I chose to shoot the first coats of primer in white. I hope it does not bleed or I will end up with a Pink Pace Car!!! LOL!!!! I still need to do some light sanding than it is back to paint to get a final coat of primer than it shold almost be ready for paint!! BTW, I got the Pace Car decals off of a vender on E-Bay. I sure am glad someone make them!!!
  21. OK, I am starting out by using a Revellogram '85 Fiero GT. It is the closest to the look though not 100% accurate is what I have been told. I dug up some wheels that are kinda close from a Dodge Daytona kit. I am hoping to get some wheels from a Galaxie trailer as I was told that those may be closer to the actual wheels except for the holes.
  22. Heres what I hope to achive...I am trying to replicate the 1984 Pontiac Indy Fiero Pace Car. There are two ways I could of gone, building the Actual pace car or a replica production version. I chose to do the actual pace car. Hopefully I will finish this sometime sooner than later!!! LOL!!!
  23. I suppose I am more of a collector than a builder these days!! For every one I build I usually buy at least 10!!
  24. I am glad that the sight is there. I was hoping it would take off better than it has. I think a lot of folk are afraid that they will not get top $$ for their stuff because of the small traffic. I sure do hope that it will take off and become sucessfull. It would be sad to see it go!!! KT
  25. It seems like only the Toyotas had the "Chrome" wheels. I kinda like 'em. Have not seen a chrome wheel in Nascar for quite some time!! KT
