  1. As an alternative to CSC. I use Purple Power. Rumor has it that it doesen't last as long as CSC, but I personally have not noticed. I get it at the local Advance auto parts in 5 Gallon form for about $17.00. I also use it to scrub the oil stains off my driveway. As for chrome, it strips it off in a matter of minuites. It takes a lot longer to strip the laquer coat though. I usually like to leave the laquer coat on if I am going to use something like alcad II because the surface is already smooth. Just a coat of gloss black, than Alcad!!! For removing the laquer coat, it may be best to use oven cleaner if you are in a time crunch!!! KT
  2. Kinda bringing this thread back TTT. I know there are a lot of new folks here!!! Don't be afraid to let us know your age!!! So far I am amazed at the range of age from young to old!! I still think it is kinda weird that I am the only one in my age bracket (33yrs.) around my area. But Mabe thats makes me special...NOT!!! Well, keep em coming!!! I think it is very interesting to know how old everyone is!!! KT
  3. Its been a little while Gregg, so whats the scoop??? Did you find a place yet??? Let us know!!! KT
  4. Last but not least is my most recent "Junker". My '70 Bonneville w/boat. A bit rough and tumble around the edges, but I think it can be restored!!!

  7. I'm game!!!! Heres one of them. I built this '71 Duster a few years back. Its kinda a restoration in progress...well kinda??
  8. I WANT TO MEET EVERYONE!!!!! But if I only had a choice of a few it would have to be Mark Gustavson and Ken Hamilton. Mark (he gets mad when you call him Mr.Gustavson!! ) has been with me from the begining of my building on the pages of varius magazines. You could say I kinda "grew" up with him. I would love to spend some time with Ken Hamilton and see his builds live and in person. His work always leaves me speachless and is a huge inspiration!!! KT
  9. Yea, My local Wal-Mart has those too!!! I picked up a few '65 Chevelle wagons. I have missed out on every issue of them for some weird reason!!! But now I have two!!! 8)

  14. Oh...by the way, here is one of my dioramas inspired by Ken Hamilton!!!
  15. All I can say is Ken Hamilton, Ken Hamilton, Ken Hamilton!!!! He is in my opinion one of the best when it comes to weathering!! If you see an article with his name, it is worth its weight in gold when it comes to techniques!!! There is a product out there called Rustall. www.rustall.com This stuff works great if you are looking for that rusty look!!! Check around and see if you have a railroad hobby store near you. They usually have the paints and supplies for weathering!! I have learned alot from Ken over the years, but I have also done alot of experimenting on my own!!! I will usually study pics. of weathered cars to see where they rust, etc. Heres a good site to see alot of rotting musclecars www.carsinbarns.com I hope this helps!!!! KT
  16. I work in a shop and see that all the time!!! You never really get used to it though!!! At least nobody got hurt!!!! Whipping hoses can put a wallop on your legs!!!!
  17. There are alot of places to get "good" models. Where do you live??? I am sure we can direct you to your local hobby shops!! Also there are quite a few on-line places like E-Bay, Hobby Heaven www.modelcarkits.com . Also they can be found at places like Michaels and Hobby Lobby. Most of my collection I get from swap meets and a personal friend who buys out peoples unwanted collections and splits them up. At over 1200 kits in my collection, I do not need to get more...but I still do!!!
  18. You beat me to it Marc!!! Just a note, A/FX is a bit slow on their shipping, but your patience will pay off in the end!!! KT
  19. You are going to polish the inside too...right Ismael??? Looks Great!!!
  20. Looks like you are on a roll with your collection!!!!

  23. Thanks for all the input! It seems that we have quite a range of age from young to old!!! For all the rest of you out there...don't be shy!!! Let us know your age!!! KT
  24. I would be more than happy to take your model collection off your hands!! LOL!!! I moved to my current location about 3 years ago now. I went from a 2 bedroom one story condo to a 4 bedroom two story house with a full basement and managed to stuff it full!! I still have unopened boxes stuffed in the closets!!! I am still amazed that I had that much stuff in the condo!!! The good thing is that I now have one room just for my models and nothing else!!! How does one move across an ocean?? Boat, Plane??? Either way, it cannot be cheap!!
