Today we have our Montaton(model car build marathon) after 3 years off. We had to build in a period of 8 hours the AMT 1994 ZR-1 Corvette. Even we didn't have a big group, the fun, laughs, and jokes of all the contestans make the event a big and unforgetable blast. The day started with a 45 minutes trip were we were worried because that as early as 7:00 A.M., the rain started to put our event on jeopardy, but, after that the hot 85 degrees sun(sorry guys in the north) resolved all our worries. Some of the guys brought a simple box with a couple of sprays and knives, but, some like me, brought a U-haul full with all the modeling armor you could imagine, but, at the end the result was completly the opposite. Let's see how it ran witht the pictures ahead... The 5 musketeers!..Alex, Mickey, Wilmer, Rubén, and Me, Simón. Alex and Ruben started to set up all their goodies. The action started on time as scheduled right at 9:01 A.M... Alex A moment of history at The Montaton...after a 5 years layoff, Mickey it's officially back! Wilmer...hey, where's is Wilmer? Me to be continued...

Bob Paeth passes.
simonr replied to Jim Keeler model cars's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A real sad day for our modelism community. I remember to have my first contact with Bob when he posted this thread about the upcomong GSL show: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2509 We PM ourself by a couple of days, since he asked me to share a room there, but, I couldn't because I planned to travel with my family. Anyway, as soon as I got there, I look for him, and like he told me, almost the half of the people there already meet him. I wasn't just only a big pleasure to met him, if not, that I had the privilege to see him working in one of the workshops offered in the GSL at the Model Cars Museum in Salt Lake City. Without any doubt, as master using plastic to weld in projects...what logical way, use plastic to fix plastic! I'm real sad also, because, I had a video of that workshop and when I lost my 3 cameras right at the airport here, that video also was lost. My prayers and condolences to all his family...Bob, my friend, you will be miss BIG time! Simón P. Rivera Torres -
Porsche 356a 1500gs Carrera Speedster-Rear brake lines!

jajajajajaja Thanks a lot to all of you guys for you kind comments. Simón P. Rivera Torres -
Again, back on track! It's not much, but, I have something. I had to scratchbuilt the rear brake lines system in order to get it correctly. In this two first closeup pictures we can see some of the components used, like R&B Motion nuts, Plastruct plastic rods, Pro-Tech braided line, wire, and Bare Metal. Here, some overall views of the completed system. This gave me some hard time putting this brake system together, but, at the end I like how it looks. That's all folks for now!....I hope to get this completed in the next two days. Simón Pedro Rivera Torres

Me 2.... This is in 1/43. Simón P. Rivera Torres -
Hey Ismael, a pretty good start for this project. I think that one of the peculiarities of work in such small scales as 1/43, 1/32. or smaller, it's something that you have in big amounts, "slow working pace". Since everything it's smaller, you should work with more caution that in 1/24, for example. I have an advise that I guess you already know, just in case. To kill two birds with the same shoot, you could used lacquer thinner with this hobby enamel paint. It dries faster, can be handle in around an hour or less, and will have the advantage of lacquer properties, were everything it's thinner, something that you will need in all those nice engraved detailing in the underneath were polishing it's almost impossible. Anyway, I seeing the model it's being as the usual quality in all your builds...what else I can said: "Welcome to the little leagues". Va bien conco'...espero verlo el Domingo. Simón P. Rivera Torres

Definetly a show to be at!....Great models, great pictures, great people....someday I'll be there. My congrats to all you guys there who puts together this classic.
