This is the Mercedes Benz 300 SL Cabrio by Italeri in 1/24. I painted the model using original Mercedes Benz lacquer Fire Red with no clear. Several plastic parts from the kit where substitued for metal or aluminum ones, as it was the cooling system plumbing. The model was also built for the 2005 GSL XX. As the BMW 850i, it aldo made it to the model cars publications as Model Cars Mag. Like the BMW 850i, it also received a wash and rust paint detail in the bottom. Simon Rivera

This is the BMW 850i produced by Revell Germany on the early 90's as part of a series of hight detailed european models as some BMW's and Mercedes. My model was built for the 2005 XX GSL intended for the Box Stock class. It was curious that althogh it was well received there and feautured in severl car model publications, as Model Cars Magazine, an error from my part avoid the model to be placed in the right class. I forgot the instruction sheet at home and the model was placed in the hard Factory Stock class. As all you guys know, the instruction sheet is mandatory in this class. The model was painted with a plasti-kote honda silver base, topped with House of Kolors candy apple red and lacquer Gunze Sangyo Super Clear II. As I told, the model was built Box Stock, but, I think this model it's so well made that it doesn't anything else to enhance it. It can be seen specially in the interior tub. I just applied a light wash in the chassis and some rust paint highlights. Simon Rivera

This is a model that took me about one whole year to complete. This the Tameo 1/43 200+ parts and about 100 more I added. This one represents the 1975 Formula One World Champion to Ferrari with Niki Lauda. For those who attend the 2006 Heartland Nationals in Overland Park, Kansas, this one was the one that took the Best Small Scale, Best Foreign, Best Detailed and 2006 Heartland Nationals adult Champion(A.K.A. Best of Show). Simon Rivera

Hey Mike, pretty good job on this one. I like you colors combo. The only dislike to me of this kit are those ugly Fuchs wheels, but, that's not you fault. Simon Rivera

Monoped: a question on the pictures of this model. What set up you used to take them. Did you use one of this comercial small portable studios or did you used your own?. Let me know, I like a lot the quality of your pictures. Simon Rivera

OK, now now it's when the fire starts up. This is the main component of this model as it is on any sports car model. Here I will start with the basic transmision section painting it with a 50/50 mix of Tamiya Gold leaf and Silver leaf acrylic paints. From any angle if represents a real model of the 962C engine despite it's 1/43 size. In this part the only work was with the jack that needed a change of angle, something I did succsesfully with some heat from the hair drier. After the basic painting, I followed it with a light wash and brush detailing of some parts as it is the hydraulic jack and the starter. Here you can see the detail even on this tiny size. The main engine block received the same treatment. Here some of the main components after painting and wash section. Herer the turbos after detailng. As you guys can see hear, this parts look with som broken components, but, I already recived nice parts from Profil 24 and they were already replaced Stacks received an Alclad II Polish Aluminum Finish. The water tank didn't looked real enough to me, so, I scratchbuilt it with some aluminum tubing. Just cut and polish. Remember in the last post I didn't like the shock look either, so I also replaced the rear ones too with Tameo ones. OK time to show something.... Here you guys can see a section of what I done until now...here, the distributor, coil, and water tank are scratchbuilt items, distributor and coil from plastic and water tank from aluminun as I mentioned already. Here the water tank attached to the overflow tank. You can see extra hole for more plumbing. Shocks in place. The middle section. From above. Fom other angles... As always, any comment or suggestions are welcome, this has been a 3 weeks work, mostly because of the size and there still some more work to do on this engine. I think it can be told that I'm in the middle of the engine. To be continued. Simon
