Rennsport Reunion III-Nov 2-4...Who's going?
simonr replied to simonr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's gonna be great to seethose model that you had posted here, and about the display, that's one of my reason to attend to show. I can't wait to see it. Last year, Henry sent me the flyer for the Atlanta show, since it has Porsches like one of the show's themes. I couldn't made it, because, one I already attended the Atlanta Show back in year 2000( I got a top 10 then), and secondly, I had scheduled a trip to the Heartland Nationals in Overland Park, KS. That wasn't no reason to missed that show and I follow the Atlanta's Show throught the ACME club's website that almost cover it in real time. I guess you where there in 2000. That was my second show in the states then. I hope this people will have more updates in the next days. Simon P. Rivera Torres -
Rennsport Reunion III-Nov 2-4...Who's going?
simonr replied to simonr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I received an email from Mr.Henry Trent, cordinator of the Porsche Racing Model car show, and this are the classes there for the show on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007: There will be 10 classes: 1-917 2-956/962 3-small scale 4-Large scale 5-Porsche race support ie:Transporter, pit cart etc. 6-Diorama 7-Pre 1964 8-1965-1975 9-1976-1981 10-1982-present. The top vote getter will be Best of Show. This will not be a full blown IPMS style show, more like a NNL where the public, drivers and the model builders will pick their favorites. Like it can be seen, it'll be real interesting. After all these years modeling, a model car show just with models of my favorite maker,...Porsche....+ real and historical authentic Porsches! Another important message: Only PORSCHE RACING SUBJECTS in keeping with RennSport. I hope this can help better for those that plan to attend. Simon P. Rivera Torres -
Steve, another question, could you find out whast color was used on this one? Thanks! Simon

Hey Steve, what a perfect example of a not so common model! A question, after I had check the link you included about this kind of models, do you guys run this model cars, something like slot car running? Simon Rivera

What camera should I buy?
simonr replied to novadose71's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Before the GSL I was thinking to buy an updated Digital Camera and after I came from there, the cameras were lost at the airport belt. I had been always a photography fan and I have an old Nikon FM from 1981. Actually, in that same trip I lost my DVD Sony camcorder and my "FILM" Nikon N70, remember that one at the GSL Gregg when you, Jairus, and me took a picture together? That situation forced me to buy my new "toy". 2 months after that I ended with one that can be called a "High End" camera for what we do, a 10.2 megapixels Nikon D80. I guess I don't have to say what can do a $1,000(with lens) camera, a 35-105mm Macro zoom, plus a Hoya +1,+2,+4 Close up lens set can do? I'm still practicing with some models and I think it's a great one. Here's something I shooted with it in the first days I bought it. Now, I'm thinking to buy a small table top mini studio like the one Zoom Zomm uses for his great pictures. Simon P. Rivera Torres -

Well Dave, I consider myself lucky enough to get one of this in Yahho Japan auctions. I think if you keep an eye on Ebay could find one, 'cause I had seen them there. If not, you can check with Island Collectibles or anyone else that sells the Tecnomodel or MG edition that Iknow made the car like 5 years ago. Tecnomodel it's the maker of the wheels my model has. They are little bit pricey, but, these are much fine models in resin and I think white metal parts. Good luck! Simon Rivera

....yes,..... .I have to say it!.......You are the man!!!! Simon -
Thanks again for your new comments. I had been tempted for some time to repaint this model with the same paint, but, this time using either white or pink primer. Simon

Very nice model!...You did real justice with this vintage model from Union that we all know they doesn't have the best in parts fittness as Tamiya or Fujimi make today. Keep showing us your good work! Simon Rivera

Puurrrrrrrrfect,....nothing else to say!...And as always; "Porsche, there's no substitute" Simon Rivera

I just got mine yesterday and for my surprise me and my models made it on pages 40, 42, and 44. Nice memories that I still have in my mind from the last GSL! Simon Rivera

Hey Mark, what a hard time you had stripping the paint on this one. I think you could speed it up using Ease-off oven cleaner with the model inside a tight sealed plastic container for a couple of hours. About the model, as always from you, what a perfect build!...even doing somethisng box stock, you're awesome man!...I like a lot the color choice, it's real difference and way different front the so current blue Alpines. I will keep me eyes on this one buddy! Simon Rivera

Like I told Ismael, I guess he's not posting the actual model car pictures,..to me this is the real car, if not, this going to be a real k**# A&% model. Se ve pu*etero Simon Rivera

This is what I consider a perfect model car, a nice looking car, well build with just only with the parts that came in the box. Just to add personal ability and taste....an I haven't seen the model finished! Simon Rivera

Woww, this is an great example of a racing model car. What kit is this one? the Revell? I would like to suggest(if you allow me) for the next time, could you can post this completed model car in the completed projects section, so, we can follow the model in right department? Again, nice model! Simon Rivera

Actually, this projet started out with an original Heller, but, I messed it up trying to open the doors. Then, I bought the 1979 version of the Heller, the 1/25 AMT, but, almost starting the new Heller, I found this rare Italeri Gullwing. What's rare about this one, it's that's named "Gullwing", but, has not opened doors. Because of it's so nice design, I think the made it in order to open the doors if you like. Thanks for looking. Simon Rivera

Thanks to all you guys that took from you time to take a look. Look for more progress on this built this coming week. Simon Rivera

Underside views of the engine and rear. The other atraction, the engine. It was recreated as a factory stock. It even included scaled down copies of the engine original stickers. To me build this classic model car was more a date with automotive histoy trying to recreate one of the famous and classic cars of all time. Simon Rivera

I started this model last year intended to the Heartland Nationals in Overland Park, KS, but, due to problem with the paintjob, I had to stop it and re-start tthe build to get the model ready to the GSL. Talking about the GSL, this was the model that took the Factory Stock 4th place award. For me it was a huge surprize due to the high quality models that enters specially in that class. I hope you guys like this one. General views of the Gullwing. Detail of the wheels. Front of the car. Pay attention to the headlights were I applied a little bit of water down mix of brown and clear yellow to recreate the spotted glass caused by the heat of the light. Views of the interior. A scaled down map of Germany was placed between seats. The main atracttion of this model, the gullwing doors! The aluminum tubing was added instead of the plastic tubing. To be continued! Simon Rivera
