  1. Thanks everyone... Dave, yep, this is the one but I would argue that there were better built Porsches there.
  2. I completed this about 8 months ago (after working on it off and on for a year  ) and I'm finally getting around to taking some pictures of it. Taking pictures of a 12th scale model really makes me realize how much I need a better camera. Thanks to Gregg and Jairus a picture of this car ended up in the Contest Edition of Model Cars Magazine. My intentions with this model were:1) To build a model now that I tried to build years ago and failed miserably at, and 2) To take what Tamiya gives us and try to do the best I could with it with minimal aftermarket items. However, I did add some extra wiring and hoses, I did modify some of the kit parts and I used a lot of dry brushing, washes and texturing of plastic parts and I even made a few parts like the window net and rear window braces, I even made working hood pin latches with a pin and overlapping ring but they are a pain in the A** to put on and take off so they aren't shown in these pictures. I painted with colors/finishes that I thought looked more realistic than the recommended Tamiya paint colors referred to in the instructions. My reference, for the most part, was SMS Photo CD of the 935 along with what I could find on the internet. It's not the most detailed model ever built of this car and there are some things I would do differently if I ever built it again but I must admit, that overall, I'm pretty happy with this build. Thanks for looking... More pictures, if you're interested, are here: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/just...0Porsche%20935/
  3. I saw this same car, maybe 5 years ago, in Vegas. It was in a high-end art gallery featuring sculptures of various sea-life. At that time the Ferrari was for sale and if I remember correctly, it had a BIG price-tag on it for a 348. The sculptures were really amazing....
  4. Those are some great looking Cobra's, Brian. Looking for some more progress from Bob now... LOL, I know this one will be awesome also!
  5. I think Bob's it the original blue metal flake version and mine is the latest release version with the green colored cobra on the box, the Street Burner series, I think is what they call it.
  6. Nope, never did. I think I built it before I joined here but here's a couple pics of it if you don't mind me posting them in your thread.
  7. Thanks guys. I really appreciate the comments.
  8. Thanks folks... Chris, the headlight lenses are the ones that came with the kit. Thankfully, they're nice and clear and when attached to the chrome headlight bucket they look really nice. I wish they had handled the parking/signal lights better.
  9. Finally finished this one up. It's the re-release of the Revell (Monogram) 1970 TransAm. Painted with Tamiya Pure White and cleared/polished. The interior is painted with Testors Lacquer Nassau Blue Metallic and detailed with testors chrome silver and semi-gloss black. The shaker scoop was painted with Tamiya Light Blue Metallic and the decals were masked off (while still on the decal sheet) and re-sprayed with the same Light Blue Metallic so they would more closely match the shaker scoop. I added plug wires, although impossible to see, and I also added window cranks and door locks. I stripped and repainted the wheels and rear bumper. I painted the bumper with alclad and it was my first time using it. Some of the chrome rubbed of the bumper while handling it and it needs to be redone. The Firestone lettering on the tires are left over decals from a Fujimi GT40 kit. This release doesn't include "Transam" scripts for the fenders or rear of the spoiler. Also, the hood doesn't fit great. Here's a few pics... thanks for looking.
  10. For me, I would say it has more to do with influence than advice. People like yourself and a few others in our club, just through your own work, have pushed me to build better models. When you're in a club with Bob Downie, Brian Venable, Matt Wadlinger and more... if you pay the slightest bit of attention to what they do you can't help but improve.
  11. Thanks everybody. It's been brought to my attention (thankfully) that I forgot to finish the exhaust tips...... (I hate making those kinds of simple mistakes, oh well...) Bob, get your mom taken care of and you'll be back in Atlanta and building in no time...... We miss you down here too.
  12. This is Tamiya's AMG Mercedes S600 Coupe, built box stock and painted Tamiya's TS-55 Dark Blue with Testors Camo Grey for the interior. I repainted the kits chrome wheels with Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf. I had a lot of problem with the metal tranfers that came in this kit. I'm not sure if it was just the age of the kit or maybe it had gotten hot but the transfers wouldn't release from the clear backing and stick to the car. Even though I tried to remove them letter by letter and place them on the car with tweezers I still had no luck. So the AMG on the back of the trunk is a decal from another kit and the "V12" emblems on the "C" pillars are missing. Other-wise, this kit went together great without any problems. Thanks for looking...
  13. This is a kit that I finished recently of Tamiya's ARTS NSX. I love the look of the real car and I'm happy with the finished look of the kit but for some reason I didn't really enjoy building it. This is my first build of one of Tamiya's new "diecast chassis / simplified suspension" kits and I have to say, that part of the kit didn't bother me. Truth of the matter is that when it's finshed you can't see the chassis / suspension anyway. What did bother me about this kit? The lack of detail elsewhere!! . I really dissaprove of Tamiya not molding the details into things like the brake disks, the hood pins, etc. in an attempt to force people to buy the PE Upgrage sets to get the same detail they used to and could have molded into the plastic parts. To me, this is the biggest let down of the kit. I can live with the diecast chassis, etc... but don't simplify the molded detail of the plastic parts included in the kit just to force us to spend more money on a kit that already cost as much as these kits do. I'm finished complaining now.... Here are the pic's. A few more pics here: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/just...ars/ARTA%20NSX/
  14. I really miss not being at the meeting and getting the opportunity to meet you Ismael. But I had a good friend, Matt Wadlinder - aka cadguy on some other forums - that's moving away and I wanted to spend some time with him and his family before he left town. I'm glad you had a good time at Petite and I'm glad you enjoyed the ACME meeting. That sure is a bunch of good guys!! Maybe next time!!
  15. That's a beautiful build. Awesome work and the paint is great!!
  16. I'll be there Saturday hanging with Bob and the guys.... Tomorrow is going to seem like a long day at work
  17. That's really a nice looking truck. I like the color choices and the wheels look great!
  18. I will also be at Petite as well as the meeting (of course) and would really like to meet you as well.
  19. Looks great Dave. I have one of those kits but can't decide what to do with it yet.
  20. Welcome the the board, Ray
  21. Hey Craig. I hope things are well with you. I think you'll enjoy this forum and I look forward to seeing some new projects from you.
  22. That's a great looking project. Very nice as a convertible and looks great in silver.
  23. This is coming along very well. The body and roof line look much better. Chassis and engine look great too.
  24. uh..... I'll get right on it!!! . I do appreciate getting the kit and I will build it... someday. The biggest thing stopping me so far is choosing a color. ismaelg: your's is looking great!!
  25. Thanks Guys. This seems like a really good forum to be a part of .
