  1. Looking good Danny. It's good to see this one coming together.
  2. Ken, I bought mine from Strada Sports: http://www.stradasportsstore.com/page163.html
  3. Looks good Chris. Looks great in that color.
  4. Thanks guys. Ken, I didn't do any progress pics at all really. I thought about doing a WIP but honestly, once I started working on this kit I didn't really enjoy the process of building it like I usually enjoy building models. I quickly became interested in just being done with it and worried more about what the final outcome was going to be.
  5. Thanks guys. Curtis, all the carbon fiber I used came with the kit already printed in the correct shape and fit very well. The lettering on the tires was done freehand with a fine-line paint brush and thinned acrylic paint. This was my first attempt at trying it. Overall I'm happy with how the lettering came out but if I could have made the lettering a little smaller I would have been happier. I guess thats what practice is for...
  6. This is the Simil'R Ford GT just finished today. Building this kit was a challenge at times. I'm not going to bash the kit with a bunch of negative comments but I will say there were some fit problems and a lack of molded in detail on the individual parts (even though there are a lot of parts). My doors also didn't fit well and I had to choose opened or closed and I chose closed because that's how I prefer to display my models. The decals in this kit are fantastic! Painted with Tamiya Deep Metallic Blue and cleared with Tamiya clear then polished. Wheels are painted with TS-30 Silver Leaf. Built for the most part out of the box but not completely. I added the antenna from wire and the body latches from some spare PE sets I had and replaced the kit headlights. The Lemans car is supposed to have yellow tinted headlight covers but I preferred clear. I also changed out the kit windshield wiper because the one that came with the kit thick as a brick... Thanks for looking.
  7. Here's mine, moving around the room clockwise. Outside the door is where I have my display cabinets, bookshelves, TV/Surround sound, etc...
  8. Beautiful livery, awesome modeling. Makes me want to build mine...
  9. Mike, I'm not sure I know how to do that but for now I posted a link to my Photobucket album that has the pictures in it. Hopefully that'll work for you. http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/justdande/BMF%20Cobra/
  10. Awesome models. It's all really great but I love the F1 cars...
  11. Here's another TA for the collection:
  12. Thanks everyone. To answer some of the questions about the rub n buff. I didn't have any issues with applying the decals. They went on fine but since this is the first time I've done this I'm not sure what the long term effect will be. There's no clear over the rub n buff. The rub n buff is petroleum based but I've never tried clearing over it. Rub n Buff is a paste that comes in a small tube and is available in various metallic shades. You rub it onto the surface with a soft cloth like you would if you were polishing the paint. At first it looks dull but as you buff it the sheen starts to come out. This was the Silver Leaf color. You can buy it at Michael's or Hobby Lobby in the aisle with the silver and gold leafing supplies. The decals are various decals from the kit. The kit I used is the most recent release of the Cobra, the green colored kit with the white flame decals. These are the optional decals that come with the kit.
  13. Last model kit of 2011 for me. I finished this one up last week. It's the Revell kit made to look like one of the bare aluminum bodied Cobra's. Painted with Krylon Dull Aluminum then rubbed out with Rub-N-Buff Silver Leaf paste to bring it to a natural metal sheen. Otherwise I added spark plug wires and various decals to give it a racer look. Thanks for looking...
  14. Here's one I finished up several weeks ago. Brabham BT50 built out of the box. Slight weathering on the tires and exhaust. Painted with Tamiya paints and also used the Tamiya kit decals. It still needs a little wash in the radiators but by the time I got to that point I was ready to be done with it. The biggest issue with the kit is the decals are not great and the upper portion of the body doesn't fit well to the chassis. Thanks for looking...
  15. Love this livery. One ove my favorite GT40's.
  16. This is fantastic. Awesome work and really cool idea.
  17. Beautiful work and looks great in that color.
  18. Thanks guys. Mark, this kit does have it's challenges for sure. Like, getting the rear cowling on over the upper exhaust pipes without splitting the cowling in half. I think that was my biggest (at least the most intense) challenge.
  19. Here's my latest finished kit. It's the original release 1/12th scale kit from Tamiya. This kit came with the rider (still being worked on). The kit was released in 1985 and represents the 1983 bike, I think. It's built out of the box with Tamiya white and Tamiya Flo Red cleared with Tamiya clear and polished. I also used the original Tamiya decals. They looked a little yellow on the paper but applied to the model nicely with the help of a little hot water and a sponge to get them to conform. After applying the decals, I polished them with "The Treatment" model car wax to get a shine on them. I wasn't going to take a chance of messing up the decals with clear coat. I found it difficult to photograph the white and red. A different background may have helped with the contrast. Thanks for looking...
  20. Great job so far Dave. I told myself I would wait to see how your build turned out before I decided to buy or not to buy. I'm leaning towards "buy". I realize you're doing this as a review but for anyone wanting to build one for themselves, the engine with just a few extra wires and hoses would look great.

    "Miller Time"

Awesome. One of my favorite race cars. I have got to build this kit one of these days... (or, maybe I should re-phrase that to say "finish" this kit some day)
  22. Looking good Dave. Those wheels look great and much more realistic than kit chrome.
  23. Thanks guys. Kaleb, I didn't do anything special to keep the bumper on. I glued it on early in the process with superglue before I ever did any priming or painting. This, in fact almost turned out to be a problem in itself because I had a hard time getting the headlights in place once the bumper was glued on.
  24. I kept scrolling through the pictures wondering when I was going to get to the model. AMAZING!!!

    911 GT3

Very nice. I like the yellow paint and dark wheels. Great job on the chassis detailing.
