  1. Very nice. I also like using the BMF before paint trick. Works really well.
  2. Both cars look awesome to me. Great work!
  3. Hmmm, I think I know where he got that one. It's great for heating up the paint cans before painting. I personally don't use a dehydrator. I've never had a good experience with one. I know the problem is me though because Bob and the rest of our gang use them with great success.
  4. John, I used the kit decals except for the small one that covers that rear intake. I had very little problem with the decals. A little micro-sol and they laid down pretty well. I had to cut them to lay down over the lights in the door and then touched them up with Tamiya white acrylic paint.
  5. Wow, that is some nice black paint. The color scheme of Black, red and gold look great together.
  6. Thanks, the kit comes with a separate decal that lays over the rear intake but I chose not to use it. I painted that part on. I figured it would be easier to do it that way than it would be to convince that decal to lay down flat.
  7. Excellent looking Monte Carlo. Very realistic looking build too. The color and wheels are great.
  8. That's awesome paint work!! Very Impressive.
  9. Yep, that's the car. I would love to build an open top version to go along with this one. I love the GT40... period. It has to be my all time favorite car. I have a detailed build, with engine, planned for someday but who knows when I'll get around to it. I thought about covering my headlights to make it just like the picture and may still do it someday. There are also a few other things that really need to be done to make the car accurate, like the second light at the top of the side number on the door should be added, etc... My Autolite sparkplugs decals are in the wrong place... LOL. I have seen a couple of the GT40's in person at Amelia Island and I was lucky enough to get to hear them fire up the engines. Music to my ears!!!
  10. Thanks everybody. Billy, the PE grill came with the kit, it also include the hood pins and seatbelt buckles. I made the seatbelts themselves out of medical tape colored with a sharpie.
  11. Just finished this up tonight. It's the Revell/Fujimi GT40 from Sebring 1966. Built OOB. Painted with 4 light coats of Tamiya TS-15 Blue then 1 light coat of Tamiya TS-19 Metallic blue topped off with 2 coats of tamiya Clear then rubbed out with Tamiya compound and wax. I like the effect of the metallic blue over blue. It keeps the color nice and dark and give just enough metallic with going over-board. I'm sure it's not the exact color of blue as it should be but it's close enough for the shelf. The wheels were painted with Testors Magnesium metallizer and cleared with testors dullcoat. The blue stripe on the tires was hand painted with Tamiya flat blue acrylic. Thanks for looking. More pics here.... http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/just...Sebring%201966/
  12. Awesome color and finish. Engine bay looks great.
  13. That's beautiful. I really like the color you chose. Nice and clean, very well done.
  14. This is looking really sweet. I like the roof lines and what you've done to them. Inspirational stuff.... This is the kind of work that makes people want to try new things.
  15. Add me to the list of BMF lovers. I really enjoy building muscle cars and using BMF for the window trim, scripts, etc... It also makes a good masking "tape" and will get into some of those tight spaces and compound curves that even Tamiya tape has a hard time with.
  16. Thanks everybody, Bob, I still have just a few small things I want to do before I consider the 935 done, then I'll post some completed pics. For now here's a link to the in-progress pics: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/just...0Turbo/?start=0
  17. Hi Folks, I've been lurking for a while and decided it's time to become active Looks like a cool place to hang out!!
  18. Here's a quick OOB build of one of Tamiya's Porsche 962's. It's not one of my favorite models because of the molded in windows and headlight covers but overall I'm pretty happy with the look. Painted with Tamiya spray Chrome Yellow and polished. Wheels are painted with Tamiya's spray Silver Leaf. My panel lines are a little darker than I'd like against the yellow paint. And I realize after taking all the pics that I haven't painted the exhaust yet.... More pics here: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/just...rs/FromA%20962/
