  1. Hey thanks Skip for the link, When I saw the work Ken was doing I had to join that forum , His work is incredible! I only hope to be that good one day.
  2. Hey Hunter long time Bro .... I bet you showed up to that show and rocked there socks off with that truck. Thats one of my favs that you have built. good to see ya.
  3. Does it really ?? or could it be you dont know the whole story?? Honestly I post my work for the benifit of others , it takes time to build and document a build. I post pics of works in progress and the finished work so that people can see the steps it takes to get from point "A" to point "B" so that if anyone has any questions they can ask and hopefully I can give a answer that helps. When people give constructive criticism its accepted kindly and alls good in the hood. But if im harassed or insulted am I exspected to lay down and just take it? Well I try that, and when I do the same people keep comming back and doing the same. What you dont see is when I try to go to these same people in a PM to try to work out any differances we may have. What eles you dont get to see is the insults I recieve in return. This all makes me tired to the point I dont even want to share my work, but i do for the sake of the guys who uphold honorable standards and truely enjoy the art of modelling, those who come to learn and teach. If I give a guy a PM Im extending the peace pipe if he refuses then I have the right as a mod to take apporpriate steps, Im tired of the fire starters and pot stirers, they are the only thing that hold this forum back from being the best model building forum around. So dont get upset when I do my job and want to get rid of the problems.
  4. Hey Bryan nice job on the truck start but how about you just add a link to your thread to show John your build instead of all the pics, this could be considered Thread Highjacking.
  5. If thats the case your lowering your so called standards by even replying in my thread, why dont you do yourself a favor and find better hunting grounds. Ive done my best to keep things civil with you Michael and over look the fact that you have been harassing me since I banned your buddy.
  6. Just keep ur eye on the prize and it'll all work its self out.
  7. Thanks for your honest opinion Dave Its true my mill would make things alot easyer, but I cant use my mill as of right now because my shop has been dismanteled because of my move. I believe I can make a go of it with the tools I have at hand and i believe i can make em look good. As a matter of fact they are (the parts) starting take shape. What you have seen so far are early works alot of refinements have taken place since the first photos were taken. I invite you to stay tunned and see how it all turns out.
  8. When I build with Brass I use a soldering gun as apposed to a soldering wand (the long stright heat stick with a handle). Well I broke my gun so I purchased a new one on eBay and while waiting for delivery I decieded to buy a soldering iron from the LHS. Somewhere in the middle of working on my project I forgot I was working with a iron and I reached over to grab it (keep in mind irons stay hot). I ended up with 1st degree burns on both my index and pointer fingers cause I grabed it like it was a cigar between those fingers. Oh man that hurt sooo bad!! Ok so I run to the fridge and ice the fingers up. I sit back down at my work bench and no more than 3 mins later I repeat the dumb move again! Same fingers burned again. Needless to say that soldering iron went in the trash.
  9. Its a work in progress Micheal... I sure hope you dont live in a glass house buddy.....But I invite you to make one from brass.
  10. Hey Bart thats a ruff pic i still have plenty of work to do on the heads and I have already filled the holes for redrilling. once the basic shape is finished i will go back and smooth it all out. Thanks for your confidence in my abilitys all of this is still new ground for me so I learn as i go.
  11. Im building this as a kit that will later be cast in resin and sold , the kit will include rods, pistons, heads, crank, tunnel ram intake, oil pan, and a few other goodies.
  12. Bart which 5.3 are you building? Im building the Reher-Morrison Raptor I have the specs book from them thats where im getting my info from. 13. Hey fellas vacation time is over and its time to get started on another build. Actually I got started on this one a couple weeks ago I never stoped building once the daytona was done. I'll be fabricating a Reher-Morrison 5.3 nitrous motor from brass and aluminum. As a side note I will be using parts from my buddy Jim Littken of http://www.micronitro.net/ And from Charlie Of http://www.protechmodelparts.com/ and any other source that will make the job easyer. Anyway Sassy and I invite you to come along on another journey as we endevour to build a better model. sassy says Hello...... Ok I started with some brass stock and drew my pattern out for the motor block ends, which were then cut out.... its a good thing I cut out four because my first set cam out loped-sided, sorry I didnt get alot of pics but heres where the engine block is as of now..... Oh and before I forget heres what I built a couple weeks ago. The guys at the DSC have already seen it. Notice my special jig (which is still under construction) it will help me to pump out the chassis for RR Speed. Hope you enjoyed see ya real soon.
  14. Hey Greg just imagine a 1/16th scale version of the 70's funny car CopOut all done up with a brass chassis and full detail and you'll be imaging my project. And youre right I was a happy camper it was also good to meet you in person.

I hope you enjoyed!

  20. Fellas lets face it our hobby is one that is dying, but its not the fault of the manufactors. Its modern techknowlogy 2 million things for a kid to do other than build models. Kids today are givien the choice to drive race cars , kill invading aliens, explore new and fascinating worlds, Be the hero and get the girl. All of this they can do from the comfort of home thanks to video games. In our day we didnt have all that so building models was our way of adventure. As a kid i could never have owned a 63 corvette , but if I had the model I could pretend I was the owner and driver of that beautiful car. Will our hobby die off after we pass? .....it could but if each of us takes the responsibility to teach others what we know it could definatly survive. This is a hobby of hand-me-downs and if we stop handing down the knowledge it most defanitly will grow cold and die. I think taking new ones to model shows and showing them the intrest in the hobby will help people to see how much fun we have and how great model building can be. On the flip side of that same coin the internet has provided a outstanding tool for young one interested in building, and thats model building forums like this one. Here is where we can shine and show. Most kids spend countless hours on the internet and I have fould it really easy to give a youngster the website address and from doing that it has sparked an intrest in building for that youngster. So if you dont have the oppertunity to teach ones directly, try giving a young one the web address lets try to build this hobby back up. ps. sorry for writing a book..
