  1. Hey Guys, I'm wondering if someone could help me out by casting some parts for me. I have a wheel that I slightly modified and I would like to have cast for a build I'm working on. I also have a tire that I need cast as I need 6 tires for the project. So in total I'm looking for 2 tires and 6 wheels. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks, Chris
  2. I recently acquired a kit that I've been after for a while. My original plan was to build it box stock. After I got it I was doing research for the build and came across a modern twist on the 1:1 vehicle. The more I look at it the more I like it. So I'm not sure what to do. Stick with box stock or go with the custom job? There's more appeal going custom as I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done in scale (at least not that I can find). I can always continue to hunt for the kit again and build it box stock down the road. I'm interested in what you guys think. Thanks for the input, Chris
  3. I'm working on a build in which I have a body stripe decal but there is a spoiler that needs to be painted the same color as the decal (red). I want to make sure that they will be the same color. Will I be better off to just mask the body and paint the stripe and spoiler instead? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Chris
  4. LEE 3 was the original hero car when filming first began. It was a 1969 R/T SE Charger with a factory Tan interior, black carpet and headrests. It had a 440 Magnum with 727 auto tranny. It was also an A/C car with power windows. The Generals were first painted Hemi Orange. It had a dummy rollbar with padding painted to match the interior. The engine bay was painted black. Building any faithful representation of the General from the 1/16 Kit will involve A LOT of scatchbuilding along with swapping out the Hemi for a 440. Don't forget the crossed flags (confederate and checkered) on the Dutchman panel behind the rear window as this was on the original Georgia-Era cars. The later hero cars had a sheet metal firewall cover and a lot of chrome. If you want more info, I'm a huge Dukes/General fan, so shoot me a PM. Chris
  5. I'm working on a 56 Chevy for my 6-year old daughter and there is a lot of chrome pieces. I didn't want to use super glue for fear of messing up the paint job (especially when installing the hood bird). I didn't want to have to remove any paint for model glue. I decided to use clear enamel paint. Just like installing photo-etched parts, brush a little clear paint of the part, let it set up a bit, and put the part in place. With the slow drying time it allows you to position the piece. Thought I would share my success with you. Chris
  6. Does anyone use a bilge blower to vent their spray booth? I was doing some research as I need to reconsider the exhaust fan for my spray booth. Bilge blowers are used for removing fumes from the bilge of a boat. They have "spark proof" motors, high cfm's and are fairly inexpensive. They are typically DC, but that can be corrected with a power inverter. I was wondering if anyone has any experience using one of these and if there is any reason to not use them. Thanks, Chris
  7. Any thoughts on how to replicate this trim? There was a company that made a trans kit for the Fall Guy truck and it included photo-etched trim. But the kit is no longer available. Custom photo-etch is not in the budget. I thought about using a piece of strip styrene and scribing lines in it. The problem I've been running in to is that the strip is flexible and I can't run a scribe along it to get a straight line. I'd appreciate any ideas or how to improve my idea. Thanks, Chris
  8. I've been working on this for a little while (it probably doesn't look like it ). Stretched the frame, added suspension mounts (shackles and leafs are in the works), and scratched some new fuel tanks. I got a resin long bed too. There are a number of inaccuracies in the kit so some other plans include correct size wheels and tires, correct grille and bench seat, also a Dana 44 in the front and GM 14-bolt rear in the back. I'll have to see how many of those plans can be completed. I was thankful to find a group on Facebook that is building a full-size Fall Guy truck and all there was a large number of pix of the frame and suspension mods--great reference material. I'd appreciate some feedback.
  9. Thanks for the information guys. I found a Dana 44 but are the 10-bolt and 14-bolt axles available in scale? And if so, where can I find them? Thanks.
  10. Does anyone know what the correct axles are for an 81/82 GMC Sierra Grande 2500 (4x4)? I'm working on a Fall Guy Truck and I'm redoing the suspension. The kit looks to have some Dana 60's and if they are correct I'm going to use some better looking ones. But I'd rather try to get the right axles. Thanks, Chris
  11. Hey Guys, Thanks for the help.
  12. I'm going to be doing another General Lee build and want to include the quintessential Dixie horns. I was looking at some air horns from model trains and was wondering what scale would work best for a 1/25 build. I was thinking HO scale train parts would give the correct look in the engine bay of a Revell 69 Charger. I'm just not familiar with model trains. Any input would be greatly appreciated (and would save me time in trying to scratch build them ). Thanks, Chris
  13. I'll chime in on this topic as it is pretty interesting. I grew up going to different races with my dad. We went to dirt tracks to see modifieds and sprints. We went to pocono to see Indy Cars. And we went to the drags too. So I'm no stranger to racing. I started following NASCAR after Dale Sr. died. My family has been Jeff Gordon fans (say what you want ). I've started to lose interest with NASCAR for a few reasons. 1. Jimmie Johnson winning five titles. Nothing against Jimmie but when no one seems to be able to challenge him it gets frustrating. Yes, this past season he had to come from behind to win, but it just makes it anti-climatic. It's like the Buffalo Bills going to the Super Bowl 4 years in a row. It gets repetative. 2. Someone mentioned the loss of character of the cars and characters driving them. So many of the drivers are boring. DW had a rant earlier this season (I think it was this season) about the loss of passion amongst the drivers. It's true. The current generation of drivers are nothing more than pitchmen. And it is very uncomfortable to watch a commercial where a driver has no business being in it. And it seems like they only racing for a paycheck. 3. Guys are being given Cup gigs before they have proven themselves in the other series. Even the guys that have been successful in Indy and F1 come over and it has taken them years to learn and they become nothing more than high-priced also-rans. They may have loads of talent but they're not ready for the big show. 4. It's getting to be a bit like professional wrestling. I'd almost be willing to put money on saying that some of these outcomes are predetermined. Ever wonder why Dale Jr. can only win when the race has something to do with honoring his father? This is just my experience as a fan who is losing interest. Chris
  14. I typically build in 1/25 with an occasional 1/24 build. My pet peeve is when something is clearly marked 1/25 and someone refers to it as 1/24 (and does it repeatedly).
  15. I'd be more interested in a 68/69 Charger hood with the bracing underneath (like the diecast Bullitt Charger). Chris
  16. I know of one person (a fellow Dukes fan) who makes the 74 Monaco body in resin and it looks like he gnawed it from a solid block of resin. I hope that's not who you're buying it from. Chris
  17. Hey guys, a few months ago we moved. I've got my model area set up in the basement. It's a musty basement, and maybe a bit on the damp side. I've done some airbrushing (I have a moisture trap on my compressor). I haven't had any major problems. It did seem like when I sprayed a couple of bodies that the color wasn't going down the best. Is the environment of my basement affecting the paint? Would a dehumidifier help? I appreciate any insight you might have. Chris
  18. Does anyone out there make a the grille from the Yodel 78 Plymouth Fury? Does someone have the grille and would be willing to cast it? Thanks, Chris
  19. Hey gang, I emailed Round2 with a random inquiry about a re-release of the 71 Charger kit. I was very surprised to get a quick response from John Greczula saying that is currently in production and will be available in October or November. Just wanted to pass this on. Chris
  20. It's not a CJ-7, but here's a Grand Cherokee I did. It's a replica of someone's 1:1 car. I scratchbuilt the running boards.
  21. Hey gang, I saw a post on a General Lee fan club website with this link: My link Does anyone know if the kit is really being reissued? I always thought the molds had been destroyed. Thanks for the help. Chris
  22. Hi Guys, I'm making plans to build a model with a broken rear window. It's replicating a rear window that was shot out. So I need to break it, remove a large portion of the center of the glass, and then place it in the location on the model. My idea is to cover the kit glass with a piece of packing tape (it's clear, should cover the whole glass, and will be strong enough to hold everything in place), break it (probably with a hammer), then cut out the tape and pick out the pieces of the glass I don't want. I'm not sure if the packing tape will be too thick, but I need something to hold it all together once I break the glass. Any thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  23. I'm working on the Model King Ford F-350 kit converting it to a 73 F-100. The F-350 has the hide-away box on the passenger side of the bed and the wheel well inside the bed is shaped to provide room for the storage box. Does anyone make a conversion kit for the bed to eliminate that box (ie a stock wheel well)? I'm working on scratch-building one, but if the parts are available in resin, I'd rather go that way. Thanks for the help, Chris
  24. Does anyone have any contact information for Scale Squads? I googled them and didn't find anything. Are they still in business? Thanks, Chris
  25. I was wondering if anyone makes grilles for the 77/78 Plymouth Fury. I was thinking about turning a 77/78 Dodge Monaco kit into a Fury. Just to clarify, the Monaco has a split grille and the Fury has a one-piece grille. Thanks, Chris
