  1. I'm jumping in rather late on the discussion, but my 2 cents have to do more with the fact that as the middle class is destroyed, the few and the filthy rich can still afford whatever their hearts desire . . . I think this is the history of the planet. The few control the many, and the super rich will always spend lavishly on toys . . . I hear in China, top members of the C. Party live like royalty. Personally, I don't like the design on the Juke. For 600K I would much rather spend on the the Mini Cooper for every member of the family and then a nice house. Simple pleasures for simple folk, right?
  2. I just got back after 8 hours on the road, buddy. I am fried. I will ring you up tomorrow. Believe it or not, I am crashing for the night. I'm getting too old for these non-stop road trips.
  3. Nice, your reds are really bright and they make your models POP. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Nice model, I like it. Also, good outdoor photos.
  5. Yes indeed, LONG LIVE RUST. Nice work.
  6. Nice colors, and wonderful model.
  7. Wonderful model, great details. Looks very beefy with that hood.
  8. Loving it, Chuck. You are back with a vengeance, yes!
  9. Just got back myself and I plan on getting going tonight too, buddy. Just printed some in scale dollar bills right off GOOGLE. LOL!
  10. I like your cardboard cars.
  11. Anxious to see more progress from everyone who have WIPS going on . . .
  12. Thanks, my friend. More very soon. I also have to catch up on everyone's builds.
  13. I will return shortly chaps, I am working with Momma Cranky on the curtains and other details of the diorama. Thank you for the generous comments and for staying tuned in. Cheers, DC
  14. Delighted to be of service, Ira. I hope the winner will treasure it. Best, DC
  15. Hey, Donn, if you want enamels, it's going to cost you a few more dollars! Oh wait, you are talking to Terry, I thought you were talking to one of the burlesque performers! Thanks, Tony, Junior, and Jim. Stay tuned in for a bit more progress soon.
  16. Terry, Revell has put out some fine kits in recent years (or at least the retools), but the 49 Merc just goes so well together. I just love the fact that I don't have to chop it, which is a great big plus in my book. The chassis does need a little bit of coaxing to fit into the rear, but it's not difficulty to get it to fit just right. Lots of parts, the fact that it comes with three options for the grill, two for fenders, two wheels and tires . . . it's one of my faves for these and many other reasons, not to mention the interior and the dashboard . . . give yours a closer look you will like it even more after you do.
  17. Glenn, I sure did. They are in fact the 2"x2"s . . .
  18. Lordy, I love this thread . . . because it always reminds me of the neat stuff we find in the crafting isles, including bead and jewelry findings . . . . If you go here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=57601&pid=686117&st=140&#entry686117 You can see all the stuff I'm using from the craft store . . . best, DC
  19. At the rate I am building these 49 Mercs maybe Revell should send me the molds!
  20. Thanks, Junior, they've come in handy over the years for all sorts of things like workbench posters in dioramas, and now this . . . your generosity for sharing is always appreciated. Cheers, DC
  21. I almost ruined the decals when I put them against the black and watched them disappear. I thought quick on my feet and airbrushed a white halo, THEN, put them back on and now they jump out at you.
  22. Here we go, who called for a pinup. I finally found my sheets of pinup decals . . . sweet. HA! Gear Stripper, that would be another great name for a rat rod.
  23. Well, also remember what a wise man told his son once: don't look at the girly stuff too long or you might go blind . . . I think it's a little too late for you, John.
  24. Holy smokes, John, I almost didn't recognize you with your eyes popped out.
