TALES FROM THE STYRENE CRYPT
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I do too, Rick, poor EYEGORE is about to turn 22 years old here and I am worried about him not being able to bring me new bodies to work on! -

Brizio, I love that vehicle. Is there a place I can check out more pictures of it? -
TALES FROM THE STYRENE CRYPT

LOL, Mike, I knew someone was going to say that! That just made my day! -
Trey, you are beginning to sound like EYEGORE!

I relish the fact that when we are talking about Doctor Cranky, the subject quickly turns to his other favorite topic of conversation other than styrene: FOOD. Just as long as the conversation doesn't turn to methane or mustard gas! LOL. If you can't exhibit your sense of humor on a cool Sunday morning, when can you?

We had a place near the Georgia/Florida State Line called JB's and it was a fabulous BBQ place and the same thing happened, the old man retired and the kids I think ran it for a while, but quickly ran it into the ground. A real shame.

Bart, I've had the pleasure of eating at Arthur Bryants a couple of times, and the culinary experience, like P. Bros. in Pittsburgh, is unforgettable. Lucky you. I love BBQ, but where I'm at it's pretty lame.

PURE EYE CANDY. Great details. This kind of fabrication is tedious but the results, well, here you have them: SPECTACULAR. AND YES, DOOZY products are excellent.

Never doubted it one second!

Austin, I like the idea and it reminds me a of a great article Pat Covert wrote a few years back (which then became a chapter in his model truck book) about building a BEAUTIFUL UTE, a phantom pick up truck. I think this could very well turn out to be a fun CB, sure. I have a million and three unfinished projects and CBs, so why not one more, right? I can see a Mini Cooper turned pickup utility vehicle.

SNAKE FINK! AA/MR...Drag Monster! ...Update 4-21-12

A couple of pounds? Let me guess, you must be a STYRENE ADDICT? LOL, that's looking real good, Ira. Very dramatic. -
Scraps and Spares
Dr. Cranky replied to ZombieHunter26's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I do, Rob. I build little projects from scrap (also if you remove the "s" in scrap, it's more like it!). Here's an example of a build I did a few years ago which took me a long time to round up all the little details, including a couple of scratch-built vintage radios I made from styrene, mesh, and watch parts. You can see the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rij3-xTzG2M. -
Does spray paint ever go bad?
Dr. Cranky replied to Action Jackson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, on rattle can, and so far no on all my HOK paints. As long as you keep them well sealed in their cans and jars, you will have paint for a good long time. Also my Vallejo Acrylics are holding up very well, and I've had some for five years or longer now. -
Rob, you know what they say, right? Some people are born CRANKY, and others become CRANKHEADS because of exposure to all the right elements: RUST, STYRENE, GUNK, etc . . . Once a CRANKYHEAD, ALWAYS A CRANKYHEAD.

Bart, NO, but I would live there just for the P. Bros. sandwiches. I also have quite a few good friends from Pittsburgh. I love the fact that Pittsburgh natives are hard core lovers of their city. That's a rare trait these days indeed. I'm a Miami, Florida rat, although I grew up in Los Angeles, out there in John Teresi land.

Thanks for posting some of the pictures . . . did anyone else take pictures? Please post, thank you.

Nice graphics, and thanks for the link.

Well, no, these don't necessarily have to be creepy or eerie stories about models or model building, but in the last few weeks I've been having these very strange dreams about models, model building, and model cars in particular . . . probably because I have not had any bench time in the last couple of weeks. Go figure, real work is keeping me busy. Anyway, I've been having these strange dreams about a night model car museum where everyone in the museum is walking around eating cheese burgers and fries and there are thousands of models on the table and my job is to protect the models, but folks keep picking them up with their greasy fingers, and there are way too many models on the tables. Perhaps these are regret dreams for not being able to attend the NNL East show this year, or last year for that matter. I've also been having build dreams where I start building a model car and it keeps going, and going, and going and I realize I am never going to finish it, and no, it's not a limo build. LOL. I know some of the best builds I've made have come to me in dreams . . . and those ARE some very pleasant dreams . . . indeed. Perhaps you are prone to these kinds of nocturnal visitations and you have your own styrene related dreams you want to share. keep it clean and have some fun. Best, DC.

The Old Man is too grouchy to have any fans, right? I didn't say that, EYEGORE says that because the Old Man promised him some Primanti Bros. sandwiches and they haven't arrived.

LOL! CRANKYHEAD nation is now officially about 3 strong!
-
LOL, aren't you one, Christian? I thought you were a diehard CRANKYHEAD! LOL!

Yes sir, what Jim said, keep it going indeed. It's going to look very cool.
