  1. Nice work, love he swept back look . . . very nice. Thanks for sharing.
  2. But Terry, you are already wearing your helmet!
  3. Thanks, Mark, and thanks Elliott. Yes, you can steal your parts from whatever source you deem necessary. I like the build, and the doggy.
  4. Looking forward to seeing some updates on this one.
  5. Cole, the learning continues. I've been here since 2006 and every day is an adventure on this forum. It's a great place and people like you help keep it going.
  6. It sounds actually like someone switched out the needles on you. Take it back, I am sure they will give you another one. Jim is right, don't leave the store without checking.
  7. Actually, it would be very cool to get some pictures of them up. Just to see a variety of possibilities. I know the 66 Nova comes with one.
  8. Here's a little bit of fun, the body and the chassis as one: Last two for the shine!
  9. All right, folks, got up early this morning to get some of this sanding and buffing out of the way. Here are the results, although I sill have to tweak the engine and the radiator. The body is done, and waiting for decals (hint, hint, Donn! ) You can see some of the bling and some of the shine in this one:
  10. Thanks, everyone. Well, Donn, tell "your friend" to send some of those decals down. I'd love to use them on this build!
  11. Joe, you bring up a good point. That's the difference for me between going to Michaels or even Hobby Lobby and going to my local LHS. My local LHS is staffed with people who care about and build models themselves. They know or try to be helpful when answering questions, etc . . . that's a big plus if you are going to keep an LHS going.
  12. Great topic, Rob. I always try to stay positive, believing that every model a builder puts together is one step closer to perfection. But I also know that perfection doesn't exist or will always be in the eye of the beholder. You learn as you go. You to try to be encouraging and at the same time, as Donn says above, you try to teach patience and the right eye for technique and details. Everything else is part of the learning curve and what I call the styrene journey. We all have our paths to follow, and we also get lots of great examples of what to do right next time on this forum.
  13. Thank you, Ira . . . this next one is going to have some decal work on it too, but I don't know exactly what yet.
  14. Todd, there's plenty of bling in that paint job. I will take some stills of it tomorrow and hopefully it will show. It's got Trublue PEARL EX, Macro white pearl, and the rainbow mini flakes . . . the basecoat is orion silver and the other color is Majik Oriental Blue Pearl, and True Blue Pearl.
  15. I'm glad I caught up with this one . . . you are creating an amazing canvas for what I hope turns out to be one killer paint job. The model is real beast, Congratulations.
  16. Hey, Chuck, I just realized they also carry MCM, that's very cool.
  17. Dirk, in this case I used HOK INTERCOAT CLEAR, then two passes of Clear FX, and then 3 more coats of DuPont Acrylic Spot clear. This thing is so shiny I'm afraid to touch it, even after it's dried. Lately, I've been loving shooting enamel clear with a bit of that PEARL EX, but it's been really humid outiside, well, it's been raining so I had to go with HOK for this one. Oh, one more thing, I like to use HOK intercoat clear on paint jobs where I will be taping graphics, like these stripes . . . this way I seal in gaps, nooks and crannies on the tape. An old trick, but it works really well.
  18. The third and final coat of clear is on . . . and while it dries I am putting the finishing touches on the chassis. This one should be done by tomorrow or Wednesday the latest . . . stay tuned in for more . . .
  19. Wonderful color combination and graphics. This one stand outs. I've always like this kit, but have only build one. Congrats, and thank you for sharing it with us.
  20. Here are a couple of Steven's pictures, everyone: The monster is alive and kicking: And the new build, right?
  21. Okay, let me load it up to my Fotki first. Give me a couple of minutes.
  22. Justin, I am assuming you are taking the good Doctor's name in vain? LOL!
  23. The cool factor in this one is through the roof. Great modifications and phantomi-za-tion! I'm assuming you are going shiny with this one, right?
  24. Oh my, if we all showed up in these machines, they'd have to call out the National Guard!
  25. Beautiful build, backdrop, and photos . . . thanks for sharing and I look forward to much more.
