  1. Jason, Welcome to the forum, buddy. I hope you will keep us posted of Orlando area model car shows. Thanks.
  2. LOL, you've got the TZH bug, buddy. Yeah, it's good to take a little break, which is exactly what I am doing too after SNIPER gets done, and then come back for another round. That's how the blood keeps pumping! Yes, Kill the Zombies, Kill the Zombies, Ooh-Aah! Ooh-Aah!
  3. Beautiful, Ira. Hope you took pictures of it at the NNL tables.
  4. Hey, Greg, welcome, buddy. Glad to have you over here. Can't wait to see what colors you end up choosing. House of Kolor has a bunch of new colors in the Shimrin2 line, but man are they expensive. Anyway, glad to see you here. hope you enjoy the forum and when you are ready, share this build with us. Cheers, DC
  5. This kind of photo reminds me of some of these pictures they take in swimming pools under water to capture some amazing details . . . Like this one:
  6. Jerred, that's been my goal for a long time, to keep reaching out to the youngsters out there so that they can see how much fun a hobby like building models can still be!
  7. Neal, I copied the pictures, boy, I really like how this build came together. Some basic elements and you make the whole thing spark with all the right TZH flavors! Thank you for sharing.
  8. Here's someone who builds weathered subjects as both stand alone builds and dioramas, and he exercises a very deliberate but subtle hand when it comes to weathering.
  9. Ira/John, did you guys bring back pictures from the NNL show?
  10. Frank, is there a donor car you can think of right of the top of your head to achieve that look?
  11. Marcos, that's why I keep making these kinds of posts, eventually someone is going to appreciate the work others bring to the table and get that SPARK to do something wonderful. You, for one, take excellent pictures of your models. I'd love to see that 62 T-bird of yours in this kind of set up. Thanks for sharing, Cruz!
  12. Rob, I know he posted the pictures of what came in the kit with the old box. I'm talking about the new kit when it comes out. If I get my hands on it soon, I will post pictures of it. Just curious to find out what will be different in terms of chrome parts and plastic sprues.
  13. Okay, I've decided, the Mini Cooper it is! Been sitting here for years untouched, it's time to add it to the collection of finished builds.
  14. I tend to agree with Jim on his assessment of how these things happen. Then luckily many years go by and nothing happens to anyone you know. Life is terminal, and we have to get used to the idea, but makes it all much more important to be good and do good work, as Harrison Keillor would put it.
  15. That would be super cool too, but how hard would that be. Luke, I tried to look up Covert's Bubbles picture and struck out. I'm sure someone will probably have a copy of it somewhere. I love the conversation about those "money shots," as you call them buddy.
  16. Here are some channels of interest you might want to check out: http://www.youtube.com/user/modelcarsmag?feature=watch http://www.youtube.com/user/fastjimmy71 http://www.youtube.com/user/FichtenFoo?ob=0 http://www.youtube.com/user/pturley84?ob=0 Again, many of these builders are venturing over here to check out our forum and share their good work with us.
  17. All those types of effects are very exciting, Dave, and it would be cool if people who've done them (like LUKE has) can share their experience with us. Their "field" notes, so to speak.
  18. Good memory, Luke, that gives me a lead. I might be able to track down a picture of it.
  19. Yeah, I like it too, it almost looks like the splattered on there some of the camo colors, which would make sense too, in particular if the engine is going to be exposed.
  20. Has anyone else tried this sort of effect? I know I've seen it mostly in real car magazines . . . I do remember seeing a model photographed on such a mirror surface with soap bubbles all around it. I wish I knew where I had seen it. Special effects in photos, like fire and smoke . . . etc . . . those would all be very cool.
  21. Junior, some of these are perfect for dioramas, which is why you have a great instinct for finding them. Thanks. Love these last two.
  22. Yeah, see, sometimes gas-burning little trips like that are really disappointing which is why sometimes your best option is to do the internet search.
  23. Oh man, now you got me thinking about the glass with color underneath . . . or maybe a shallow tray painted black or midnight blue that you can flood with water, enough to make the model reflect. Love the idea . . .
  24. Not only do models look great like this, but real cars. I did a Google Image search and came up with a bunch of great examples. I think you are on to something here, Luke. That would make a great challenge for people posting their models over in UNDER GLASS.
  25. Luke, the other question I have for you is if you think this effect can be replicated on a table top photo studio? Of course, for those who don't have access to such a great back drop, or who hesitate to take their models out . . . just curious.
