  1. Donn, why can you get copies of the shots he took?
  2. You remember the line from the movie FIELD OF DREAMS: "If you build it, they will come." Well, I am thinking if a thread like this exists--a place where we put our memories, observations, plans--of these two kits, maybe our wishes will be fulfilled within the next couple of years . . . I think the 70s will then be pretty complete, now that all those great vans (not to mention the Gremlin and the Pacers) are making a triumphant return. If you have vintage VEGA and PINTO kits, boxed or built, feel free to share them . . . I hope this will start a wonderful pre-review conversation.
  3. Rob, taking little breaks is very good for each builder. It allows you to recharge and regenerate after so much draining of the imagination. Rests come in very handy.
  4. I think he is slowing down, LOL!
  5. This is one of those kits you don't see often enough. Great canvas for paint. Looks good, keep it going.
  6. You are right about Doug, Gregg, he is one of the best and I've always enjoyed his work.
  7. Chuck, I've been watching this one go up over at your Fotki archives, waiting for every update with few nails left on my fingertips. This thing is just another signature Chuck Most build. Love that engine, and I can wait to see how you are going to detail that cab.
  8. Rick, sorry to hear it, hang in there.
  9. Bernard, I really appreciate all the eye candy you brought back, and thanks for those links too.
  10. LONG LIVE RUST! Nice job, buddy.
  11. This is looking real good. Hope you get it done.
  12. Wow, you guys are super hot tonight with all the great updates. I copied the pics to the vid archives. Keep up the great work.
  13. I think each subject calls for its own level of weathering, from mild to wild depending on how far you want to take it. How much salt would Salt Flats racer take? How much dirt would a dirt tracker take? You, the builder, decides. That's where some of the best fun is. In terms of how much to charge for a model, I would not know, I do not sell my work, or paint for others, but I most certainly do respect the people who do as a way to counter their expenditures in the hobby.
  14. Great to hear it, Brandon. Keep us posted when you start uploading vids. Best, DC
  15. Chuck D is definitely one of the greats!
  16. This thread is definitely worth its weight in gold.
  17. LOL, ah, the fun continues . . .
  18. Hopefully mine will arrived today, that would be a plus to go along with all the liqueur filled chocolates I'm eating!
  19. Mark, what you are describing is part of what makes these builds so low-stress. If something doesn't fit, you can still make it work without ruining the overall look or feel of the vehicle, the way you would on say a shiny, no-flaw ride.
  20. Those are great shots, Chuck. Thanks for sharing.
  21. And throw in a telephone booth and a couple of Preiser Punk figures and you've got a GREAT scene indeed.
  22. Great eye candy, J. I love that last picture too and wonder how many of those guys who own them grew up watching Magnum PI?
  23. I use a Logictech HD cameral (costs around 69 dollars) and it does a great job. I also use the iPhone video camera and that works pretty well too. Welcome to the forum, Herbert. Stick around and enjoy the sights, plenty of them here. Cheers, DC
  24. Skip, what you are describing so beautifully in the above passage suddenly makes me think that it would make sure a great scene or diorama, a Mercedes in the desert being photographed by a whole bunch of people. That would be so cool.
