  1. Here are some more pics . . . Airbrush + acrylics = CRANKY LOVE.
  2. All right, you CRANKYHEADS, this is what almost two days of painting with the airbrush (except the engine and the bed rack which were rattled canned) looks like: Everything has received the salt/hair spray technique to achieve this look so far. I really like the way the body and the wood on the bed have turned out. So far so good, and so far so much fun.
  3. Thanks, everyone, the painting has begun, and it's going slow. We are in the salting/texture stage which is repetitive but quite a bit of fun. Stay tuned in for more.
  4. Beautiful details and attention to . . . excellent build.
  5. That is wonderful and super cool. Great paint.
  6. Beautiful builds. You gotta do a how-to on those watermelons.
  7. Thanks, Bob, and Jim, laying out the parts like this is therapy for my OCD.
  8. That's a good question, Jim, and I think this is more of a flat terrain type of vehicle, the modifications never really thought-through all the way . . . at least that's the story. I got primer on all the parts finally! I really like using all the different color primers, for different effects as you will begin to see as soon as the paint starts going on.
  9. Who-EE, still shooting primer. Should be done with it all today so I can start the painting tomorrow.
  10. Woah, I though the thread had disappeared, but happy to find again. Thanks for the kind words everyone. Today, I am adding final details and then we are painting primer on everything. This weekend should begin the painting fun. Stay tuned in, my friends.
  11. Yes, definitely, I've been thinking about my contribution to that thread. This build could easily be it. Thanks for the support, everyone. I should have most of these components in primer tomorrow.
  12. Thanks, Chuck. This one will still run although it will have seen better days. We'll see how it goes.
  13. LOL, we haven't seen warranties in the Lab-RAT-ory since 1892. LOL!
  14. The fenders are the perfect size. They come from a milk carton cap cut in half.
  15. The frame was fun and fairly easy to modify and build up to handle the bed.
  16. Don't ask me why that name. I am thinking desert rust and good names for Franken-sh-shteined camp mules. So here we go. Kit = Revell's 57 Ford. Body sawed just behind the front door jamb. Jeep wheels in te back (for the right amount of traction) and regular wheels up front. The frame has been modified and the stake bed is completely scratch-built to give this one just the right level of attitude.
  17. Thanks, everyone. Yes, this is my first big scale build, and I can see quickly running out of whatever little room I have if I can building them. LOL.
  18. LOL! Yes, blame it all on me. This is my first 1/16th scale kit and I think I am hooked on these bigger scales.
  19. I don't know, but I'd love to have one in scale.
  20. Mind freakin' BLOWING! Gorgeous craftsmanship on those parts.
  21. Beautiful work, Dave. Love it.
  22. Oh yeah, the Doctor was feeling it the minute he saw the MINI CRAFT MINIATURES kit on sale at SQUADRON HOBBIES. The I saw the Jay Leno episode with his own MOGGY, and I was hooked. There are several video updates over at THE CRANKY SHOW of this build in progress, but here are the completed pictures. Not a kit for beginners, and certainly a challenge for those of you with welding skills. I'd love to see someone make the frame for this one out of brass tubing. That would be so cool. It's a wonderful kit but a bit finicky at times. Enjoy, Crankyheads! The paint is British Racing Green by Tamiya. Even though it looks grainy on these pictures, the paint has been buffed and shined.
