  1. The copies have arrived, so it's time to start in on the fun. Stay tuned in for some pictures. I might also do a video.
  2. My copy of the kit has arrived. THANK YOU, MODELROUNDUP! It's time to start having fun.
  3. Shane, I see you are lining up the parts . . . cool. I am happy to announce that my van kit has finally arrived. Now it's time to start in on the fun. Stay tuned in.
  4. You can achieve some interesting results with masking tape that has the right texture.
  5. Very cool, Chris, can you discuss the process a bit more. Also, what about backdrop. How did you do that? Thanks.
  6. Jim, no, you put down a base coat of a light color . . . then you spray the water, THEN you spray the next color (could be a transparent color sure) from a very low angle and from one direction only. Andy, those boots are scratch-built. I slipped one small tube inside another inside the header. Sometimes I use watch parts as a boot . . . it all works.
  7. Thanks for the support. Please remember to join as a member so you can post messages, etc . . . Mr. Erik Davis is the first official CRANKYHEAD in the lounge! Cheers, DC
  8. Harry, another great point, which is why a lot of States are enacting laws to prevent people from using their electronics in their cars. At least those of us who photograph on the road do so by stopping and getting out of the car! Gee, I hope so! Drive-by photography, any body do it?
  9. Sam, I feel sorry for folks who got replaced by computers, but I also feel sorry for people who have bosses who know more about computers than they do, or who make endless work squeezed into one day, one week, etc . . .
  10. Many people have indeed become slaves to multi-tasking, and many can apparently handle it because they seem to be Techno-Virtuosos. I tend to get overwhelmed, and again I think it has a lot to do with the way we are conditioned from an early age.
  11. I remember when they said that speed scanners caused policemen testicular cancer . . . but they still use them . . .
  12. I find that many of these devices, iPhone included, are very small, they have to put a great strain on the eyes, then comes the idea, hum . . . upgrade to an iPad, and then the idea hum . . . upgrade to a 17 inch computer . . . next thing you know you are surrounded by gadgets and broke.
  13. Harry, that's an amazing point. And have you seen those sleep-aid drugs they are selling late at night. Lots of people are stressed out, on the verge of anxiety attacks, etc . . . perhaps--if you are as paranoid as I am--it's all done on purpose. I know they are blitzkrieging the new generations to keep them totally unstable with all sorts of marketing and useless information, etc . . .
  14. Which brings up something I heard the other day, a rumor involving GOOGLE and some of the other larger internet companies about blacking out for one day to protest Congress trying to pass any of these new Internet laws. I wonder what would happen if we really had a few days without computers or the internet. Gee, wait, isn't that the premise behind all these new Post Apocalypse movies?
  15. LOL, I am too familiar with it, yes!
  16. Greetings, folks, upon EYEGORE's insistence, Doctor Cranky has started a Lab-RAT-ory BLOG/LOUNGE where all things model and diorama building will be considered. Please do visit and check it out, join, post comments, questions, etc . . . THANK YOU: http://doctorcrankys...y.blogspot.com/
  17. Thank you, John, that's an oldie but goody. It's about a decade old, but it's still holding up well.
  18. Jamie, that's a great kit, and a wonderful choice, and I for one am excited to see how you Post-Apocalypse-ize it! LOL! Keep it going.
  19. I think having an inquisitive spirit also helps. I don't know to what extend computers, phones, and other gadgets keep us mentally sharp, but I figure it's best to err on the side of trying to learn.
  20. You know what DOCTOR CRANKY's gonna say: LONG LIVE RUST! Nice work.
  21. Looks very cool in red. Nice job.
  22. Tell me about it, the eyes getting burned out and diminished is a great concern, no doubt.
  23. Here's a picture Ranma sent along to show eveyrone:
  24. For those of us over 50, and you know who you are! LOL! New technologies are constantly arriving on the scene. I know that in the last 10 years or so I've learned quite a bit about digital cameras, etc . . . but ultimately I am not as tech savvy as I should be. There are folks here (Harry P.) comes to mind right away who seems to be very comfortable (if not to say up to date) with Photoshop and other software, computer savvy indeed. Just curious to know what or how you do what you do to stay up with the techno games and advances. Personally, I am always looking for ways to make model related things (like photos) better and easier, etc . . .
